My parents are old, so that's know I know old things
like record players |
<x} My parents are old, but one is a pre-teen from the 80's 90's and 2000's and the other is a boy from the 1800s, 1970's and 2000s all at once. I know old things, although, it's because I like learning about old stuff. XD
|
>a boy from the 1800s
what. how many centuries old are they |
<x} hehe well, he grew up with toys like, a stick, and a ball and getting into fights with his brothers, and learning to butcher a chicken/pig/goose for food, and likes to think he's a cowboy, and wants to be a cowboy, and by all ethnic and cultural rights, he probably has cowboy blood as a direct descendent of Mexico. :] Sooo, yeh. x} he's a couple centuries old dude. But his actual age is 55. XD

@Kaderin Triste: oh, hun. :c That's just awful. That was how it was for me when I worked at Wal-Mart. I would come home limping every day, no thanks to some horrible shoes some awful woman convinced us to buy at Academy Sports.
I'm now chronically ill, but I just opt to laugh at myself and my illnesses. |D |
My feet aren't usually too bad if I can keep moving, and thankfully at JoAnn, even cashiering is seldom just standing at the register all shift (at least at the store I work at) but I spent almost 6 years as a grocery store cashier and I never want to subject my feet to that again.
Awww. Sorry to hear about your illness, but glad that you aren't letting it get you down! |
idek why we can’t just all go barefoot
like why did society decide shoes had to be a thing |
I imagine that they come in handy in preventing injury/loss of parts in certain professions...
|
loooool I do NOT miss working at retail. Is it just me, or has anyone else ever found their feet hurt less after a day of working on their feet whn they're moving around the store as opposed to just standing in one place?
|
i think it's because when you're moving, you're using other parts of your feet. it also might depend on how you stand and whether or not you tend to shift your position.
|
Why walk at all? Or even stand? :} Floating sounds way better! *floats on belly*
x} But as much as I'd love to just float all the time, legs must still be used, or else they atrophy. |
you can't just float all the time. doesn't that take up energy?
|
That's why oil energy is ending
Merskelly is using it to float!! |
Hey, I grew up with a stick and a ball too ^^ our family had a couple of these diabolo juggling things, plus one supermarket back then did a kid's reward program at the end of each school year where everyone with good enough grades in their report card would get a ball for free. They stopped eventually, but by then I had scored five or six balls.
Have never worked in retail, but I agree that my feet also hurt less when walking around a whole day than when standing still for hours (with only so subtle position shifts). |

Imma have to start stealing alternative energy sources pretty soon. >.> |
i can only juggle two balls at a time. any more and i get mixed up.
|
I can't juggle. <x}
Yet. |
Try scarves that are weighted or have a ball at one end. Easier to start out with.
|
:o woa, really? :d *superglues handkerchief around ball and tosses it only to lose it somehow in the air* :{ aww...I guess I need more than one.
|
Adding the scarves make the balls travel slower -- and easier to track.
|
how does that work, though.
|
Lessens the aerodynamic...-ness. AIR RESISTANCE, that's the word.
obviously you'd get max air resistance if you used just the scarves, but because they're so susceptible to fluid dynamic fuckery, you end up getting really unpredictable trajectories. |
#1 reason to visit the pub: all the new skills you can learn from here
|
<...My knowledge chip is a veritable font of knowledge.>
|
I almost wanna try juggling now.
XD We always had a sort of mini lesson on it in grade school gym class, but only used normal scarves and balls and I didn't really have the hand-eye coordination to handle more than 2. Lol |

Why does Donald Duck wear a towel when he comes out of the shower when he doesn’t usually wear any pants?

I do appreciate the font of knowledge though and will return with more questions.
|
i like knowing a lot of useless trivia.
|
:} Same same. I like spewing trivia from my jabber hole sometimes too. *sips water*
Speaking of which, :D Did you know Bernard Herrmann composed the music for some of the most well known fantasy, horror and sci fi themed shows and movies, like the Twilight Zone, Psycho, The Day the Earth Stood Still, but also Vertigo, Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, Citizen Kane? Quote:

Alright, next question: Who is a really awesome yet often overlooked figure in history? (and yes I'm aware this has multiple valid answers)
|
Me
I'm so overlooked |
currently: wanting to make an idle game based on science.
