I am Legend is good so different from the movie but so good.. It is normally a short story in a collection. Also... it was named the best Vampire literature in the past Century!

And besides, Vampires have been created since the birth of time. Known just like mythical creatures such as mermaids or trolls. Nothing can be changed because it's already there. Imagination is when you create a story out of it but not changing one thing about the said creature.
Also, imagination is when you create your own creature and its features and stuff.
