No one contacted them and Rosen didn't return from his one night stand.
In the early afternoon Long finally went looking for Rosen. He went to the clubs that were most likely to draw Rosen's attention first. Someone had to remember him.
Surprisingly few people remembered him at all, which was odd considering how much he must have stuck out. Eventually Long learned that Rosen had taken a girl upstairs at a particularly flashy bar.
So Long followed the trail, going to the bar and heading up the stairs in his sweater and tight pants to find Rosen.
Eventually Long found the right room, it reeked of alcohol. Rosen was sitting on the floor, facing the bed and surrounded by bottles. On the bed, wrapped up on sheets, was a woman who appeared to be unconscious. Rosen took a big swig as Long walked in, his eyes staying focused on the girl.
Long walked into the room slowly, not keeping his presence hidden. "... We should head back," Long told him quietly.
Rosen paused, "It's ironic," he spat out before taking another large sip.
Long didn't say anything as he walked over to Rosen, figuring he would need help getting up.
Rosen tilted his head to the side, "I just gave her the best night of her life... and she won't remember it," he mused.
Long didn't say anything as he grabbed Rosen's arm to help him stand.
Rosen attempted to shake him off, swinging his bottle at him.
Long caught the bottle with his free hand, dragging Rosen up with the other.
Rosen suddenly shoved himself into Long with his full strength and mobility. Not unsteady on his feet in the slightest.
Long stumbled backward, stepping on a bottle which threw him off balance. But as he tried to regain it, he stepped on another and his feet fell out from underneath him.
Rosen landed right on top of him, "Surprised?" he hissed, "Well guess what, I can't get drunk!" he spat, "I can't get drunk, I can't get high and I can't forget! I can't forget anything! Thomas gave me no escape, do you know that? No escape!" he shouted at him.
Long swallowed a little. He looked a little afraid, but he didn't try to get up. After a few moments he started to say something, but stopped.
"Do you..." Rosen choked, for not being drunk he was getting pretty emotional, "know what it's like to never... forget? To never... be able to forget and yet to be... alone?" He swallowed, eyes tearing up, "Utterly... alone?"
Long swallowed again. After another few moments he replied quietly, "I don't know what it's like to not forget... but I know what it feels like to be utterly alone."
Rosen's eyes searched Long's for a moment, "I don't want to be alone," he whispered slowly, "I... I'm sick of being alone."
Long paused before nodding a little, he could relate.
There seemed to be an eagerness in Rosen's eyes, "You'll... stay, right?" he whispered, face getting closer to Long's.
"... Uh..." Long muttered, finding it hard to concentrate with Rosen getting so close.
"You won't leave, right?" Rosen whispered, getting even closer.
Long started to say something again, but it dribbled off as Long started to blush. He moved a little to try and get up, but his blush just deepened.
Rosen wasn't blushing. He looked perfectly serious as he leaned forward and pressed his lips lightly against Long's.
Long froze, but Rosen could tell that he liked it.
"Don't leave," Rosen whispered before kissing him lightly again.
Long still didn't reply, still finding it difficult to think.
Rosen wasn't making it easier for him to think.
So after a little while longer, Long just stopped thinking and started returning Rosen's affection.
Surprisingly, Rosen remained light and slightly awkward. He almost seemed frightened.
Long had been more frightened, but most of it had melted away by now as he tried to tempt Rosen to go further.
Slowly Rosen started opening up more but then suddenly he was too frightened and immediately backed off. Way off. He crawled backwards until his back hit the wall and then he promptly started to cry.
Long crawled with him for a step or two, but scratched his arm on a broken bottle which seemed to help snap him out of it. He paused, watching Rosen for a moment before quickly turning around and sitting with his back to Rosen, thoroughly embarrassed.
Rosen continued to cry, he truly seemed to be terrified.
It took Long awhile to get over his embarrassment, but eventually he got up and walked over to Rosen, stopping a few feet away.
Rosen shied away from Long a little, not looking at him as he continued to sniffle.
So Long backed off a little. He stood there quietly for a few minutes before bending down to Rosen's level. (Or at least to the best of his ability in those tight pants)
"... I... don't know what you want," Long told him quietly. "You... want me to stay. And go. And kill myself. And be your bodyguard. And not be your bodyguard. And fly... And you don't want me to like you like everyone else, but you keep..." He shook his head a little. |
Rosen glared a little at Long through the tear trails that he hadn't bothered to wipe away, "I've never... I've never liked anyone before! Alright?!" he confessed a bit viciously. "I don't know what you want! You never speak your own mind, you follow orders like no one I've ever seen but you don't think for yourself! How am I supposed to trust a man who can't think for himself?" he demanded.
"... Huh..?" Long muttered after a few moments. His face had gone red again at the confession and he didn't appear to have heard anything after that. "... You said you couldn't."
