The little boy giggled and clapped his hands.
"What the fuck was that!?" Red burst in alarm. "Jesus!" Another of the guards pointed at the patch on the wall that had been his comrade. |
"Run!" Quarrel cried at Red, carefully balancing the boy in his arms as he grabbed Red's hand and took off down the hall.
"Hey, stop that!" Someone shouted before stun blasts were going off around them, just barely missing the three.
"What the hell happened back there!?" Red breathed. "Did he do that!?" |
"Can we not talk about this now?" Quarrel wheezed, seeming a little out of breath - in fact, he'd been moving slowly this entire time, ever since they had been chased by the creature.
"Q, are you okay?" Red frowned.
"Ooohh-keeey." The little boy said slowly. The burst into the lobby and headed for the door. |
"Not the time," Quarrel breathed again as they headed toward the exit.
Red pulled Q closer and held him close as they pushed through the electronic doors out into the wilderness.
The groups of children were gone, most of the Silvers having disappeared. However, Quarrel's parents came out of the brush as they stumbled through.
"Thank the great spirit that you are...what is that?" King frowned and pointed at at the small form in Q's arms.
"I'm going to hand you to your grandmother, now," Quarrel told the little boy. "She will protect you, okay?"
He slowly handed the boy to his mother, before collapsing into his father's hold. |
"Quarrel!" The Silver gasped with Red.
There was no transition whatsoever, the emotions suddenly changed like flicking on a light switch. At first the little boy was quiet and smiling up at the woman and then he was just bawling his eyes out- thick tears running from his closed eyes. |
"Red," She breathed as the child cried. "He needs someone connect to him, please-!"
She handed the child to the human and moved over to Quarrel, pulling up his shirt to reveal deep scratches along his chest and side. "We need to get him to medics," She told her husband. |
The King scooped up Red and started to carry him off. Red held the little boy in his arms awkwardly. He'd stopped crying as soon as being handed off to Red, miraculously.
Quarrel's mother followed after her husband solemly, inwardly wondering of Alec was still alive inside of The Facility.
There was no time to think about that, though... she also forced herself to ignore the thought of Luda trapped inside. If he'd been in there, Quarrel would have gotten him out... |

Domino sat in the ruins of the Tacobell across from Kayen- wiping the taco sauce from his mouth with a napkin. |
Kayen hadn't touched his food, staring at the crumbled building in silence.
"...You're not hungry?" Domino asked.
"I don't feel so good," Kayen admitted. "Like... a part of me is far away."
"...I don't understand." Domino tilted his head.
"I feel like I'm missing something," Kayen whispered. "A part of me..."
"...Incomplete?" Domino asked.
The white-haired boy nodded.
"It's weird," He admitted. "I've never felt this way before. It's very sudden... but hard to ignore." |
"This...missing piece," Domino said, "Do you know where it is?"
"The Facility," Kayen whispered. "But it's leaving... heading the opposite direction of us."
"...My...job is to complete you." Domino informed.
"This isn't something you can fix," Kayen told him with a small frown.
"But I will." Domino stood up. "Which way?"
More emergency service vehicles started driving by and Domino contemplated destroying them. |
"South of the Facility," Kayen whispered. "I want to know what it is, at least... and why I can feel it..."
"So do I." Domino nodded. "I was worried I was the only one."
He started to walk out. |
Leaving his food sitting there, Kayen got up and followed after the blonde.
"I can carry you." Domino offered.
"I'd like that," Kayen said, smiling weakly.
"Not on my back this time?" Domino turned to Kayen.
Smiling even more, Kayen moved over and wrapped his arms around Domino.
The blonde put his arms around Kayen and lifted him up.
"Sorry...I like carrying you." He said blankly. |
"I like being carried," Kayen giggled, snuggling into his hold.
"Sorry I'm not good for much more." Domino apologized.
Kayen was frowning, now. "You're wonderful, Domino..."
"Wonderful?" Domino blinked.
Kayen nodded. "Would I love you if you weren't?"
