Long let Rosen stay where he was as he got over the pain.
The pain only seemed to get worse as Rosen's sobs became cries like the first day he had been awake. Slowly he slipped off of Long's bed.
As Rosen was heading for the floor, Long grabbed the back of his shirt before he could accidentally fall on his hands. Then surprisingly, Long got up and carried Rosen back over to his bed, laid him down, and set him up with some more pain medication. He finally glanced at Rosen when he was done, blood still dripping down his face onto his shirt.
Rosen was still sobbing, hands shaking. Even as the pain medication started to kick in, he continued to cry.
Long let Rosen cry, going back to his own bed and laying back down again to stare at the ceiling.
"Why d-did you help m... me?" Rosen finally spat at Long, "J-Just a... nother debt... I-I can n-never repay."
Long didn't reply.
After a bit of time, the doctor came in and blinked at Long's nose. He paused, deciding not to ask, as he took another blood sample.
Long's depression just seemed to be getting worse.
The doctor cleaned up Long's nose a bit before looking straight at him, "What you need is some fresh air," he stated, "I'm sure Zala meant no harm when she locked you in here but..." he glanced at Rosen who was still sniveling, "You both need some sun."
Long didn't meet the doctor's eyes like usual. And he didn't comment.
"Just when you go outside," the doctor stated, "take Rosen with you." With that he started to leave.
Long stayed where he was; it didn't look like he planned on going outside anytime soon.
The doctor left, leaving the door opened on his way out.
Long continued to stare at the ceiling.
The doctor didn't let Long rest for long, soon one of the girls came in and stood by Long. She seemed a little scared of him, "Um... I need t... to clean up in here," she stated faltering a little.
Long didn't move.
The girl took in a deep breath and then poked Long's cheek.
Long raised an eyebrow.
The girl squeaked and almost bolted but she took in another breath, "I-I need to... clean up in here," she repeated.
Long still didn't move. Perhaps he wasn't connecting the dots.
The girl stared at Long, "... Like the b-bed..." she stated quietly.
After another moment Long slowly got up so he wouldn't startle the girl again.
The girl startled anyway, backing away quickly.
Well, the blood still on his shirt probably didn't help. But then he walked over to Rosen to get him up.
Rosen was still cussing, tear stains covering his cheeks. He glared at Long a little, not looking like he wanted to walk right now.
Long watched him for a short moment before walking off to the back before coming back with an IV so Rosen wouldn't have to go off the drugs.
Rosen had flipped over onto his side, back to Long.
So Long flipped him back over.
Rosen resumed him glare.
Long picked Rosen up and put him in the wheel chair before transferring over his drugs and increasing the dose slightly.
Rosen didn't say a word but he looked pretty angry.
The girl was watching the whole thing with wide eyes. |
Long didn't appear afraid of Rosen as he pushed him out.
As they left the room Rosen finally asked in a husky voice, "What are you doing?"
"... I have to take you with me when I leave," Long replied in reference to what the doctor had said.
Rosen slowly turned around and glared at Long again, "He's not going to know," he spat.
"You want me to put you back so that woman can poke at you?" Long asked, not looking at Rosen.
Rosen opened his mouth to reply but then closed it and looked forward with a pout.
So Long pushed Rosen along until they were outside like the doctor had ordered.
"So what, we're just going to sit out here and roast?" Rosen griped.
