"No Holden..I'm fine..." She gave Alicia a half hug, "I see..." She frowned whispering back, "What are you keeping from him?"
Mystic narrowed his eyes a bit at Holden, "I can be quite nasty you know..." He shook his head, brushing the matter off as he looked to Alicia, "Yes spray tell." Solomon sighed, putting his hands in his pockets, "I want you to stay here. There'd be nothing for you to do over there anyway..." |
"I can't tell. And I thought you knew about this Mystic." Alicia sighed.
"Whatever Solomon, just tell Kali good luck for me." Holden sighed as he went back to Melody. "Come on you three, its bad enough Solomon is keeping things from me, I don't want you guys to do the same." He sighed crossing his arms. "Just because I'm human doesn't mean I can't take news. Good or bad." He sat on the couch. He took off his ring and stared at it, "I don't know." He closed his eyes and leaned his head back. |
Solomon shook his head, "Just trust me Holden.." With that he disappeared.
Mystic shook his head, glancing over as Holden came back, "I honestly have no idea what they're hiding from you Holden. Honestly." "What's going on here Alicia?" Melody frowned, sitting next to Holden. "Don't know about what?" She looked at the ring, pointing to it, "What's that for? It's a wonderful ring." She looked back to Alicia for a moment before looking back to Holden, "What did I miss?" |
"What do you mean they? Solomon is the one lying to me." Holden opened his eyes as he felt Melody sit down. "Me and Solomon are engaged. And I don't know if I want to go through with it. If he would just tell me the truth, I would be fine." He sighed. He looked at Melody, "That's basically all you have missed, other then my ex came here and stuck his tongue down my throat. And Solomon's birthday was yesterday." He tossed the ring onto the coffee table as he crossed his legs. "Alicia is it to early to start drinking?" He rubbed his temples.
"Holden its only 6 A.M., so yes it is." Alicia looked at Mystic. "We have Charun demons after us." |
Mystic coughed, his appearance quickly reverting back to his normal self, "C-Charuns!? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" He ran his hand through his hair, "Dammit...How many?" He looked to Holden, "How long has this..coldness been going on?" He pinched the bridge of his nose, "Dammit!"
"I'm sure things will work out Holden..just give it time." Melody frowned, looking up to Mystic, "Charuns? I've read about those. Wait..T-that means.." She jumped up off the couch, "When were you planning on telling me I was in danger Mystic? Huh!? It's bad enough I've got the damn French vampires after me!" She narrowed her eyes as they flashed red. Jaelynn appeared standing next to Alicia, "Ah..um..where'd Solomon go?" She quickly gathering the information from Alicia's mind. "Oh that's not good...if Christine is a Charun, and I'm assuming Holden's gotten wind of this by that look on his face, then he should not be alone with her." Melody looked over to Holden while Jaelynn went on ranting, "Basically, Charuns are like..the Ethereal world's bounty hunters..and guess who's numbers one through four on their list?" |
"Jaelynn said she was going to talk to you." Alicia crossed her arms.
"About three months." Holden sighed as Jaelynn appeared. He stood up, "I know what a Charun is. I have read some about them." He crossed his arms. "There was some stuff about them in a few of those blood bond books I had." He thought for a moment. "So that's why you were talking to a cat in my bathroom this morning." He nodded his head. "I'm also guessing that Seth and Serus are numbers five and six." He sighed. "Well, looks like it is back to hell for me. Yay..." His voice was sarcastic. |
Mystic looked to Jaelynn, "Thank you for contacting me Jaelynn.." He sighed, "No sense in being upset about it now. Either way, I will be back. I need to speak with a few people." He shook his head slightly and disappeared.
Jaelynn placed her hands on her hips, "Well I've been busy aanndd you're gone. Awesome. Yes, Holden, that's why. I was asked to not tell you, and I apologize. I told Solomon he should tell you. Don't be upset with him alright? He thought it would be best to not tell you so you could focus on your job, but seeing as that's not going to happen...I don't see why he didn't just explain to you what was going on. You're a strong person, you can handle this." |
Holden sighed as he turned around to pick up the ring. "Thank you for that Jaelynn." He smiled slightly as he walked over to Alicia. He grabbed her hand and laid the ring in it, "Teleport that to Solomon for me please." He nodded. "Oh well, but it would be nice if they would just kill me now. I'm the weakest out of the six. There isn't a way to appease Vanth. Soo.. Who wants some alcohol while I wait for death?" He shrugged looking around.
Alicia shook her head and teleported the ring into Solomon's hand. "Holden it's 6 A.M. you can't drink yet. And your not going to die." She sighed. "And I know sarcasm is your way of coping. But just give it a rest." |
Jaelynn shook her head, "Don't sound so grim Holden. Things will work out." She shot Alicia a look, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere as they say." She frowned a bit as Holden gave the ring to Alicia, "Holden...really don't you think that's a little extreme?" She closed her hand, intercepting the ring and making it appear in her palm. She discretely put it in her pocket, then laced her fingers behind her back.
"Well well well," a dark blue-black haired woman said as she appeared. She grinned, her red eyes looking at the people in the room as Mystic appeared behind her. Mystic glared at her, "Don't even think about Acera...I don't want you anywhere near him." He grabbed her shoulder, pulling her back a bit as she moved to step forward. Acera turned around with a frown, "Are you telling me what to do Mystic? I don't appreciate the tone you're taking with me. Do you want me to kill them?" She glanced to Melody, "I will you know..." Mystic growled a bit, but let her go, "Fine, but I will take care of their half...Understand?" Acera smiled then pouted, "Fine." She turned back around to face Holden and Alicia, "Now then...so Vanth wants your heads. I might be of assistance to you." She grinned a bit, forcing Mystic to disappear as she laced her fingers behind her back again, "Tell me what you know Alicia." Her red gaze shifted over to the dirty-blonde haired vampire. |
Holden sighed, "He's been lying to me and I don't like that." He turned around to look at Acera, "Mistress Acera, it is a pleasure to finally meet you." He went to his knee. "May I offer you something to drink?" He stayed on his knee looking up at the woman.
"We don't know much ma'am. Other then the Charun's are after us." Alicia was nervous talking to the most powerful demon. "I'm sorry, I don't have much more to tell you." She looked to Jaelynn. |
Acera smiled a bit at Holden, pulling him up to his feet, "You don't have to be so formal." She looked over to Alicia again, "Do you have any idea what form the demon might be taking?"
"Solomon thinks it's one of his riders for the horse shows..Christine.." She sighed, "And knowing him he's probably getting himself into a world of trouble right now." |
"I'm sorry mistress." Holden bowed his head.
"What is with you Holden?" Alicia looked at him. "I am showing respect for one of the most powerful demons." He looked back at Alicia slightly. "And he yells at me for getting in trouble." He shook his head. |
"While I do appreciate your efforts Holden, it is not necessary." She tilted her head back a bit as she looked back to Jaelynn, "Oh really? And where might they be right now?"
Jaelynn was a bit unnerved by Acera's behavior, "Ireland..I believe.." She didn't dare use telepathy, seeing as Acera had already invaded Alicia and Holden's link. |
"Mis.. Acera, I can go with you if you wish." Holden looked at the same height woman.
"Holden..." Alicia trailed off wanting to pull him away from Acera. |
Acrea smiled rather darkly, showing her pointed teeth as she put one arm around Holden as she turned to face the two vampires, "I'm going to borrow him, as per his request. I'll bring him back...mostly unharmed.." She looked to Holden, leaning by his ear, "Close your eyes darling~"
|
"Yes ma'am." Holden closed his eyes tightly.
Alicia's eyes widened slightly as Acera put her arm around Holden. She wanted to protest but she knew that Acera would be able to kill her easily. |
Acera gathered up her power as Holden closed her eyes, then disappeared. She had reappeared right next to Solomon with a smile, "Oh Solo~ Look who I brought~ You're darling..ex..? fiance? I don't know..." She let Holden go, lookin to the horse in the arena and the woman riding him, "Oh is that her? She's harmless.."
Solomon jumped a bit as he felt someone appear. He was rather surprised to see Acera..yet alone Holden. "E-excuse me?" His eyes shot down to Holden's hands, his expression becoming mildly irritated. Without a word he looked back to Christine and Damien, "That would be her, or so I believe...I'm surprised I didn't have any issues with her before the show...I don't really understand why she continues this charade." |
Holden opened his eyes and instantly looked at the ground when he heard Solomon. "I'm just going to go talk to Kali." He pointed and skittered off.
Alicia stomped her foot, "I don't like this one bit. Holden going off and possibly getting himself hurt." She crossed her arms in a huff. Holden smiled as he neared Kali, "Can I hide in there with you?" He scratched her head. "I really wish I knew what you were saying." He sighed. "I don't like this being human, not that you know what that feels like." He leaned his head on the stall door. "I wish thing were a lot more easier." He sighed looking at Kali who was nudging his head. |
Acera chuckled, "Well she ain't stupid..." She laced her fingers behind her back, "She's not the one who should stop pretending Solomon..." She peered over at him from the corner of her eye, "You can't really protect him Solomon...You really thought that you two could have 'a happily ever after'?" She narrowed her eyes a bit with a dark grin on her face, "Get your head out of your ass Solomon and take a look at reality. I may be head of the demons, but not even I can dispute Vanth's rule. Sure, I could kill this little Charun, but then you'll simply have another after you..."
Solomon clenched his fists a bit as Acera spoke. Her words did cut him deep, but he would not show it on his face. "Then what the hell are you doing here? If you're here to just watch us all die, then just kill me now. I will not partake in your stupid games." Acera laughed, rolling her eyes as she looked back to the arena, "Oh Solomon, I have much greater plans for you three...and I can't kill you...Unfortunately, I need you and Holden alive..." Before Solomon could reply, she disappeared, appearing by Holden and Kali, "Ah good, you are alone~" She stood outside the stall, her red eyes glowing slightly, "Now that I have a moment to talk to you~" |
Holden was petting Kali's head, he snapped to attention as he heard Acera speak, "Yes ma'am?" He bowed his head slightly.
"What did she say to you Solomon?" Alicia crossed her arms. |
"Obviously something I didn't want to hear." He growled a bit and pushed her from his mind, blocking it off.
Acera frowned a bit rocking back and forth on her heels a bit, "I want you to be honest with me Holden.Pretend I'm not the most power creature you will ever meet..just an average old plain Jane." She narrowed her eyes a bit, "I know you don't like Melody being near me..you and Mystic both share that point of view. Tel me why...I want the whole truth Holden, not some pansy political answer." She brought her hands around, putting them int he pockets of her white coat. |
Holden was taken aback slightly by her question, "Well..." He trailed off stepping back slightly. "No offense to your character or anything but... Your power has kind of made you a bitch." He winced slightly wondering if she was going to hurt him. "And that bitchiness rubs off on Melody, which in turn makes her anger rise." He took a deep breath. "And I don't like the feelings I get off of her when she comes back sometimes." He paused for a moment. "I know I'm just a stupid human here but I still feel everyone's emotions, probably because I still have a magical presence in my soul." He sighed. "I-..I'm sorry for being so blunt." Holden looked at the woman with apologetic eyes.
|
She brought her hand out to slap him, but gently patted him on the cheek instead, "Don't be. I told you to be honest with me." She put her hand back in her pocket. "Yes, you and Mystic share the exact same view...except he called it something else. What was the term he used?" She was quiet a moment while she thought, "Ah, I remember now. He called me a 'Cold, black-hearted bitch'.." She chuckled a bit, suddenly narrowing her eyes very threateningly to Holden as she used her telekinesis to rip the door from the stall and throw it down the isle. "I did not appreciate that...I don't like being called bad things." She stepped forward, getting rather close to Holden, staring him in the eyes, "While he was punished for his rude behavior..and rather severely, you're going to spared such a thing. I told you to be honest with me, and I'm proud you had the courage to do so, I don't think Melody would appreciate me breaking you to pieces." She gently placed her index finger on the base of his neck, just above his ribcage, a numbing sensation traveling rapidly through his body, "..and you've shown me the utmost respect out of everyone...and I appreciate that. I know I don't have to worry about you, but if you ever bring me insult and shame, I will punish you..regardless of what Melody says. Am I clear?" She removed her finger, smiling slightly, "Like I said, I won't have to worry about you. You're a very smart boy, you know the rules."
|
Holden jumped when the door was ripped off of the stall. He looked at the woman, "Crystal clear. And if I ever do anything to insult you I expect you to punish me mistress." He bowed when he felt the numbing sensation go away. He glanced behind him as he heard Kali start to freak out. "Yes ma'am and thank you." He quickly whirled around and looked at Kali. "Shh Kali, its ok..." He stepped forward as she started to rear. He grabbed Kali's halter and started to pull her down. "Stop it right now! She isn't going to hurt you... I need you to trust me understand?" He stared into Kali's wide eye. He exhaled loudly when Kali settled down, "That's a good girl." Holden said soothingly as he petted Kali's neck.
|
Acera watched the horse, that fake smile still plastered on her face, "I'm glad you understand." She looked to Holden, "I have put a block around you, Solomon, Alicia and of course Melody. It's temporary, but while it's in effect, the Charuns and Vanth will be unable to sense you and you should be attack free for a few days. I will speak to Vanth, but I doubt she'll change her mind, even if I were to ask her. So I suggest living these next few days like your last." She chuckled again then disappeared.
|
"Yes..." Holden trailed off as he looked to where Acera was standing to find her gone. He sighed, "I told you she wasn't going to hurt you." He glanced to where Solomon was standing. "I should probably go and get him... Right?" He sighed again. He shook his head as Kali nodded. "Well... Want to come with?" He pleaded. "Oh come on... Please?" He leaned his head on Kali's neck as she shook her head. "I'll give you some alfalfa cubes." He smiled as Kali started to pull him out of the stall. "Kali... Kali..." He said over and over trying to stop her because his hand was stuck in her halter. "Damn horse, you could of given me some time to get my hand out of your halter." He looked at the horse as she stopped in front of Solomon. He looked to Solomon but looked away, "Solomon... I'm sorry about this morning. I just hate it when you lie to me." Holden still tried to pull his hand from Kali's halter.
|
Solomon whirled around to see a copper appaloosa standing behind him, "Well hello there...so it was yours she broke. Damn woman, I have to pay for that." He reached out, gently pulling Holden's hand free from the halter in one, painless movement, "I understand Holden..." He let Holden's hand go, holding Kali's halter, "Now you get back in your stall. I don't want to see a single hair out that door." He let her go and looked to Holden. "I don't like lying to you one bit, but sometimes I find it necessary. I don't like it when you're afraid or worried about your life...I want you to have some sense of security, even if it's only temporary..."
|
"Thank you." Holden rubbed his wrist. "I understand too Solomon, but I can take any news." He smiled as he hugged Solomon. "And nothing towards you or anything, but I have really never had a sense of security about my life. First it was my mother then vampires. And then after I was turned vampires and hit men... Then when I was brought back my heart... Which all of this you know." He sighed and then smiled slightly. "So I'm not worried about death, because I will fight and I know you will as well." He looked up to Solomon, "And if I do die, I will live happily in hell knowing that you and I tried." He let go of Solomon and backed up a step. "And as for the door I will pay for it... I kind of pissed Acera off... So ya..." He chuckled. "But she asked for the truth and I gave it to her." He smiled watching Kali prance back to her stall.
|
Solomon sighed, keeping his hands in his pockets, "I know Holden..but..I can't help it..it's just in my nature.." He tilted his head a bit as he mentioned Acera, "What did she want to know?"
|
"I know that Solomon and I adore that in you." Holden stepped forward and rubbed Solomon's cheek. "She wanted to know why I don't like Melody going by her." He sighed. "I'm surprised you didn't listen to the conversation." He chuckled. He turned and leaned on the fence, "I don't think she is one of them. I can read her emotions...." He trailed off as he thought of something. "I read about something once... it said that they can possess human's... Maybe Chris is being used because she is close to you." He bit his lip. "But that is kind of stupid, I mean me and Hayden are closer to you then Chris is." Holden sighed as he watched Damien run around the arena.
|
"While that is true," he started as he turned around, watching Chris and Damien exit the arena, "She is weaker than the both of you. Her mind would be easy to control compared to yours or Hayden's.." He nodded his head towards the gate as he started off to meet her, knowing Holden would follow, "Jaelynn has been relaying information to me nonstop. They're able to replicate a human almost flawlessly and a false personality to go with it..but who knows..you might be right.."
|
Holden jogged to catch up with Solomon, when he caught up to him he laced his arm in his. "Ya but Hayden is even stronger then me." He sighed leaning his head on Solomon's arm. "I think I know more but I have so much information in my head and I can't compartmentalize it. So it's like a jumbled mess up there." He chuckled. "Oh well." He shrugged. "Did Kali win her show? Or didn't she go out today." He looked up to Solomon trying to hide his left hand.
|
"You don't need to hide it Holden, I saw your finger when you first appeared..." He looked away a bit, "She got 2nd for her show on Saturday...Damien's still waiting for his totals." He met up with Chris and Damien at the stall as she was untacking him, "No issues today I'm assuming?"
Christine looked back as she hauled the saddle from Damien's back, "Nope! He was perfect, in my eyes. I don't know about the damn judges though..they're so particular." She quickly put the saddle on the stand outside the stall then went to brush him down, "What do you think?" "He did good...I could sense a bit of tension between you two. He's such a pansy ass some times..." He shook his head a bit, "Oh well...he still did marvelous today." |
"I'm sorry Solomon.... I was just upset with you is all. I'll get it back from Alicia." Holden nodded slightly. "Well at least she placed, but she could of done better." He sighed. "So you must be the amazing Christine, its nice to finally meet you. I'm Holden." He stretched out his hand.
|
Christine took Holden's hand as she came out of the stall shaking it once before letting go rather quickly. A slightly confused look came over her face for a brief second before disappearing to a smile, "And you must be Holden~ That man over there," She pointed to Solomon with her thumb, "never shuts up about you. It's kinda cute~" She threw the brush down in the bucket, patting her hands off on her riding uniform, not really caring about keeping it clean now that her shows were over, "But more often than not it's rather annoying..." She chuckled a bit, punching Solomon lightly on the shoulder, "You know I love you boss."
Solomon narrowed his eyes, rubbing his shoulder even if it didn't hurt, "You know, you could be out of a job just as quickly as that arm of yours Chris." He chuckled weakly, putting his hands back in his pockets. |
Holden stared at his hand because it was numb. He cleared his throat, "Yes. And you talk about me Solomon? You are just so sweet." He put his hand be behind his back as he tried to make it stop being numb. A look of concern came over his face as the numbness moved to his arm. He quickly wiped it off and looked at Damien, "¿Se sintió un entumecimiento cuando te toca Damien? (Did you feel a numbness when she touched you Damien?)" He winced as the numbness became stronger. He nodded when Damien shook his head, "Ok... Ummm, sorry his last owner spoke to him in Spanish a lot. And I just wanted.... Ya..." He grabbed his arm. "Kali must of twisted my arm... I'm going to go and have a talk with her." He glanced to Solomon. "It was nice meeting you Christine." He waved as he quickly ran to Kali's stall.
|
"You are such a bad liar Holden..."
Christine tilted her head, "You're right..he is spontaneous.." She placed her hands on her hips with a sigh, "I'm going to go get me some food, then maybe sleep a bit. I'll see you at the next show Solomon. Bye~" She waved and walked off with a slight bounce to her step. Solomon shook his head, whistling softly at Damien. He followed him out to Kali's stall, "He said 'No', by the way. How's your arm now?" |
Holden sat on the floor of Kali's stall and pulled his knees to his chest as the numbness went to his shoulder. He looked to Solomon as the numbness started to recede. "Sorry... It does, and I know he said no. He shook his head." He looked at Kali who was resting her head on Holden's knees. "Thank you for your concern Kali, but I really am fine now." He slowly scratched her neck. "And we need to talk girl, you placed second in your last show? You should be placing first in every show." He sighed. Kali stomped her hoof. "Don't stomp your hoof at me, its the truth. The more you place first, the more I will see you~" His voice was in a singsong tone. Kali snorted. "You know you love me." He chuckled as he wiped the snot off of his face.
|
Solomon sighed, leaning against the stall as he watched Damien, "It's a shame everyone knows my horses to be so well tamed...I would love to have one of them trample her...it would do us no good in the long run, but it would satisfy my urge to stomp her myself." He shrugged, shooting Damien a glare, "No, you stay right here or no more shows for you. Understand?" The horse snorted, bouncing off back to his stall, sticking his head in the corner. Solomon closed and latched the door with a bit of telekinesis, "Demon horse..."
|
Holden chuckled as he stood up, "You would be lost without him Solomon." He smiled as he stood in Kali's stall doorway. He went to say something but stumbled forward as Kali headbutted him in the back. He turned around and threw his hands on his hips, "Excuse me young lady... And I didn't forget ok?" He sighed. "Where can I get some alfalfa cubes? I kind of promised her some." He looked at Solomon. Kali nickered. "Happy now? I asked him." He narrowed his eyes at Kali. Kali nodded her head a lot. "You want to talk about a demon horse... There is your demon horse." Holden pointed at Kali.
