After a moment, Blaze went on her own way.
Yue stopped and turned around. "I don't need a babysitter," she snapped. |
The woman snorted lightly, "I'm walking back to the maincenter as well."
Yue didn't look like she believed the woman, but kept walking, heading for her room.
As they reached the main area, the woman did indeed break off and left Yue to her own devices.
Later that morning, Yue snuck out of her room and briefly revisited the Juttle she had spent the night in and returned to her room before anyone could notice. Then perhaps in time, someone would take notice that the cupcake sweater was missing. Or not.
Around noon, Blaze was suddenly seen running down the hallways, looking for Kale. |
Kale was eventually found in Rosen's room. They seemed to be having a very intense video game match. It looked like a very old game, Mario cart or something. They looked pretty silly fighting over stars.
Blaze didn't seem to notice or care what what Kale was doing as she burst inside and ran straight into Kale, wrapping her arms around him.
Kale gave a bit of a start. "U-Uh..." he muttered, very surprised and unsure of what to do. After a moment he seemed to collect himself and asked gently, "What's wrong?" Awkwardly he wrapped his arms around her but seemed to increase in confidence as he hugged her tightly back.
Rosen snorted, looking the pair over without trying to disguise the disgust in his eyes. |
To Blaze, there was no one in the room except for Kale. After a few seconds, Blaze started to cry. And that quickly turned to sobbing. After a few moments she started saying something, but it was incomprehensible. But it was the same phrase over and over again. Eventually Kale could figure out what she was trying to tell him, "Twenty one months and seventeen days." She wasn't sad; she just couldn't contain the happiness she felt.
Kale blinked before starting to chuckle, "Well, how about that." he mused before tenderly kissing the top of her head.
Rosen continued to stare at them, "I didn't think I'd live to see this day, Kale. But you've successfully managed to find a girl as strange and abnormal as you." he stated bluntly. Kale either didn't hear or pretended not to as his focus remained on Blaze. |
Blaze kept crying for a long while like this was the best news she had ever heard.
Kale clearly was not used to embracing others or being this close. He tried his best for Blaze but as time wore on he began to feel more and more uncomfortable. "W-Well..." he cleared his throat, "Let's not waste any time of your 21 months and 17 days. You hungry?" he asked, tilting her chin up so he could get a look at he face.
Blaze at least seemed to be somewhat aware of Kale's comfort level. She took a few moments to gather herself a little better and backed off a bit. "... I'm not very hungry," she replied a little hoarsely as she started to become aware that she had interrupted something.
Kale nodded, looking Blaze over for a moment before smiling a bit, "Wanna race?" he asked, "I'm sure Rosen wouldn't mind."
Rosen rolled his eyes, he had just stood, "By all means, don't mind me." and started to leave. Kale just chuckled. |
Blaze glanced at Rosen, looking like she didn't know if she should worry about Rosen leaving.
Rosen caught Blaze's glance and gave her an annoyed 'What?' glanced back. But he relented a little as he sighed, "Kick his ass for me, will ya?" and left the room.
Kale was still smirking a bit, "Don't worry, he needs to get away from his video games more anyway." "I heard that!" came annoyed call from outside the door. Kale snorted, amused. |
Blaze still looked a little unsure, but she shrugged it off after a few more moments.
"Do you know any of these games?" Kale asked, gesturing to the shelves on the wall lined with games.
Blaze blinked as she glanced over the wall of games. After a moment she started to look overwhelmed. That would be a no.
"... I've only really run simulations before," she explained a little shyly. |
Kale shrugged, "Then let's start with the basics." he said, grabbing a snowboarding game to play. "Take a seat." he motions to the cushions on the floor as he sits down on one himself.
So Blaze took a seat on a cushion beside Kale at an angle so she could see him and the television.
Kale tossed her a remote, "You been snowboarding in real life?" he asked as the game started up.
"... No," Blaze replied as she frowned at the remote. She glanced at how Kale was holding it before adjusting it in her hands to mimic him.
Kale chuckled a bit before reaching over and readjusting the controller in her hands a little, "We'll play on super-easy mode first." he reassured her.
"... Sure," Blaze replied as she fiddled with the controls, trying to get a better feel for how this might work.
So Kale when though the basics, push up to jump up onto railing and stuff, down to move faster down the hill and A and B to do tricks while in the air after a ramp. (lol) After he felt Blaze has a descent understanding he started the first level.
Blaze seemed to have some difficulty grasping the basics. And when the first level started, she did everything wrong. But by the end, she could at least steer correctly. "... What's the point of this?" she asked when they were done.
"To get a higher score than the other person and to win." Kale explained with a glint in his eyes, "You get bragging rights."
Blaze blinked at Kale a moment before shrugging. "... Alright," she replied. "And how do you get a higher score than the other person?"
"By avoiding the trees and doing more tricks than the other player." he explained before a small smile before starting the level over.
Blaze nodded a little. She did a bit better this time. Well, at least her points weren't negative.
Kale laughed, seeming to enjoy this. He started to tease Blaze lightly as they continued to play.
The teasing didn't seem to affect Blaze too much. She had a slow learning curve, but once she got something right then she continued to get it right. Every time.
Kale continued to watch Blaze, as she started to progress he made the levels harder and harder, seeing how far she could go.
Every time Blaze started a new level she did very poorly the first time. But she started learning faster. It wasn't long before she could nail difficult moves. If she could hit the railing before running into a tree.
Kale laughed a little, in the next round he purposefully rammed his guy right into hers.
"Huh?" Blaze asked, thrown completely off. She then quickly proceeded to fall off a cliff. She frowned a little as if she couldn't figure out how to compensate for the other player in the game.
Kale chuckled a bit as he leaned over and knocked into her in real life, "Relax a little, it's not so much a puzzle as just random fun." he mused before stretching with a yawn.
"Huh?" Blaze asked as she turned to Kale and yet continued to play the game like she was staring at the screen. "I thought the point was to win," she replied.
"Yeah, but if you're too serious it's..." he paused, wondering how to phrase it. "Well, it's just like life I guess, you have to try and win but you can't take everything seriously. Gotta have a little fun with yourself." he nodded.
