Solomon smiled a bit, closing his own eyes, even though he was far form sleep. "I know.." He winced, making sure grunt never left his vocal chords. He didn't want to make Holden worry more now that the numbness overtook his torso, "It's never gone this far..." Solomon twitched a bit, then just as suddenly as the sensation came, it drifted away. He closed his eyes tightly, using a bit of power to keep Holden unaware of flinching so he could get some decent rest. "Tomorrow..we need to contact Mystic. It's a shame Azriel is missing...she'd probably know more about this."
|
"We will Solomon..." Alicia trailed off not knowing what else to say.
*** Holden groaned as he opened his eyes when he heard his phone buzzing on his nightstand. "Who would be calling right now?" He rolled over and glanced at the clock, "4:30? Really?" He sighed as he grabbed his phone. "Hello?" His voice was slurred a bit. He sat up, "What?!" He looked to Solomon. "Y-..you can't do that..." He pinched his nose. "You want to know why? It's because it is discrimination." He tried to stay calm. "Its discrimination because you found out that I'm gay. Which doesn't affect my job performance." He clenched his fist. "You had an informant? Who in their right mind would sell someone out like that?" His eyes widened as he figured out who did, he looked at Solomon and mouthed 'Asher'. "Fine, I see how it is..." He sighed. "Ya maybe I will see you in court." He growled as the line went dead. "Son of a bitch." Holden threw his phone across the room, making it shatter as it slammed into the wall. |
Solomon frowned, "Holden..I'm so sorry." He sat up putting his arm around Holden and pulling him close. He knew it was partially his fault. He made Asher mad after all..well, they all did. He sighed, moving to give Holden's cheek a slight kiss, "I know a few..powerful people in the system down in Florida..I can talk to them if you'd like?"
|
Holden sighed as he put his arm around Solomon. "No, you don't have to." He gently rubbed Solomon's chest. "And this isn't the first time I have been fired or turned down from a job because of my sexuality." He sighed again. "I was to good for them anyway. Plus I took a major pay cut." He chuckled slightly. "And now I can go into business with Anne, if she'd have me." He smiled as he leaned his head on Solomon's shoulder. "When do you have to be in Ireland? I'll go with you if it's ok?" Holden looked up at Solomon.
|
"Let's see..you said it's about 4:30? I'll probably have to leave at about 6am." He frowned a bit as Holden asked to come with. He didn't want him anywhere near Christine if she was a Charun...but he didn't want him to be any great distance away from himself either. He closed his eyes tightly as he debated. "You can come along. I'm sure Kali would love to see you again."
|
"Thank you Solomon." Holden smiled giving Solomon a kiss on the cheek. "An I'll make sure she will win her show." He sighed. He looked at Solomon with an evil smile, "We have about an hour and a half... Want to?" He winked as he gently trailed his finger down Solomon chest.
|
He shook his head, "Not right now Holden...I just want to relax for awhile." Solomon put his arm around Holden's waist, pulling him back down on the bed, letting his forehead rest on Holden's. "I don't get too many..rather quiet mornings anymore."
|
Holden pouted but nodded, "Of course my darling Solomon." He smiled slightly as he was pulled down onto the bed. "Oh Solomon~" He brushed Solomon's hair out of his eyes. "How about this?" He scooted a little closer to the headboard. "I hold you for a little while. I do know you like hearing my heart beat." He smiled as he pulled Solomon's head to his chest. He wrapped his arms around Solomon and placed a sweet kiss on top of Solomon's head. "There you go Solomon, just listen to my heart." Holden said in a soothing tone, even though he felt a coldness surround himself...
|
Solomon just let him move. He was too deep in thought to really notice what Holden was doing or saying for that matter. He could feel the coldness around Holden, and around himself. The Charun was getting more aggressive it seemed. He closed his eyes with an internal sigh, wishing he knew what to do.
|
Holden fell asleep for about ten minutes but got shocked awake by a numbness in his abdomen. He winced as the feeling got closer to his lungs. He wanted to gasp out for air but he didn't want to disturb Solomon. He hugged Solomon tighter as the numbness made its way around his heart. He let go of Solomon and rolled off of the bed to his knees. His breathing was become more and more erratic, he quickly stood and ran to the bathroom. He shut the door and leaned on the sink, gasping for air and clenching his chest. "Not another heart attack..."
|
Solomon appeared in the bathroom with Holden, "It's not a heart attack Holden." He flipped the lid of the toilet down and forced Holden to sit on his. He placed his hand on Holden's chest, closing his eyes as he used it telekinesis to push away the Charun's power. "Just relax, alright?" "Alicia..she's at it again.."
|
"I know Solomon... But I don't think this is Christine... This feels like a male..." Alicia rubbed her eyes. She has been keeping tabs on Holden all night.
Holden tried his best to calm down, but the more he felt the numbness reaching his heart, the more nervous he got. "What is going on Solomon?" He asked in between gasps. |
"Just be quiet Holden..I'm a bit busy here." "Yeah yeah whatever just help me here." Solomon put a powerful telekinetic block around Holden's heart, widening it to allow the organ to beat freely. Suddenly, Solomon's fingers started to bend backwards until they snapped. He winced a bit, but made no other notion of feeling it. He kept his focus on Holden's heart. "Alicia..check the yard..something's out there..I can hear it tramping about."
|
Alicia helped Solomon's TK block on Holden's heart. She disappeared and landed outside to see nothing out there. "There's nothing..." She trailed off as she fell to her knees feeling a huge pressure on her brain. She concentrated as hard as she could and sent a huge wave of TK around the entire house.
|
Solomon narrowed his eyes, "It's there Alicia..just look harder. Remember, Charun's can't technically be seen in their true form, so you have to look really hard."
Seemingly from nowhere, a white cat would be seen in the second half of it's jump as it landed on the grass. The creature's eyes, which were pitch black looked at Alicia for a moment, it's form was smokey and whisped around lightly in the gentle morning breeze. After a moment, the smokey cat ran up the side of the house, jumping through the closed bedroom window. |
Alicia's eyes widened as she saw the white cat appear from nowhere. "It just went into Holden's room." With that she disappeared. She landed in Holden's room, looking around closely...
Holden wanted to know what was going on, but he couldn't bother Solomon... |
The cat was just phasing through the bathroom door as Alicia appeared, it's tail flicking a bit as it did so. It jumped up onto the counter, creeping over to Solomon and Holden. Once it was close to Solomon, it crouched down, extending it's paw to touch him.
Solomon looked over as Alicia told him where it went, rather surprised to see a cat's face right up to his. As he made eye contact with the creature, he felt a sharp pain before mass amounts of numbness throughout his body. "Alicia..call..Jae.." As the cat's paw touched his face he became rather stiff, his skin started to become a palish gray. |
"Jae, Mystic... We need you now!" Alicia felt the pain Solomon was in, she tried to move but couldn't.
Holden felt a deep chill come over the bathroom. "Alicia open the door." He felt Solomon's nails digging into his chest as he went stiff. When the door flew open he grabbed Solomon's wrist and quickly stood up as he tried to pull Solomon along. As soon as Alicia opened the door the chill overcame the bedroom. |
Solomon narrowed his eyes a bit at the cat as Holden tried to pull him. He would have to work a lot harder to do that, considering he was only human trying to haul a man that was about 6 feet tall all by himself.
"Aww, what a cute little kitty cat..." Jaelynn appeared, holding a knife in her hand, "Oh, you've been such a naughty little kitty..." She walked into the bathroom, sliding on the glove she hand brought with her as she approached the cat. "Here Holden, let me help you." She grabbed Solomon from the back of his neck, easily dragging him along the floor until they were at the door. "Ah ah! Get back here!" She lunged forward, tackling the cat to the floor, holding it by the scruff with her gloved hand, "Bad news you two," she said to Alicia and Solomon, "This isn't your demon...this is one of her minions." She stood and opened her hand, letting the cat drop. The cat's ears when back as Jaelynn pulled Solomon and Holden away. It made a break for the window, but was apprehended by the vampire with a silent hiss. When she dropped it, it's form dissipated to smoke then vanished from the air as it hit the floor. |
Holden nearly tripped backwards when Jaelynn pulled Solomon. He narrowed his eyes at Solomon, "What the hell is going on here? First Jaelynn appears and then she talks to an imaginary cat!" He threw Solomon's hand from his chest. "I want and deserve to know the truth, Solomon." He glanced at Jaelynn then back to Solomon.
"What do you mean?" Alicia was totally confused. |
Jaelynn looked at Holden with a slight glare, "I'm not crazy..." She crossed her arms over her chest, looking to Solomon, "He doesn't know? He has a right to know about this Solomon.Solomon?" She frowned a bit noticing he was unconscious, "Marvelous...As for what I mean," she looked back at Alicia, "Charuns can command other spirits to become their..servants. They usually use spirits of animals because their easier to command and give less..lip as they say. That cat was a servant."
|
"I never said you were crazy Jae..." Holden trailed off when Solomon collapsed to the floor. He pinched his nose, "Alicia can you help me move him to the bed?" He kneeled down and put one of Solomon's arms around his neck. "What a day already, a half hour ago I was fired because I'm gay, Jaelynn pops in, and my fiancee passes out. And its only 5 A.M." He shook his head.
"Well that explains a lot." Alicia shook her head. "Ya I'm sorry about that you got fired Holden.." She walked into the crowded bathroom and put Solomon's other arm around her neck. "1...2...3.." She lifted Solomon up off of the floor with very little help from Holden. |
Jaelynn came over, helping the two move Solomon to the bed, "I don't know how you're going to explain this to him Alicia...He does deserve to know, but at the same time, he doesn't." She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose, "I'm sorry about you getting fired Holden...unfortunately the world still doesn't fully accept homosexuality.." "If you need anything more from me, just give a holler." With that she disappeared.
Solomon's eyes shot open a few minutes later, his hand going for his head which was throbbing. With a quiet groan he sat up, "God dammit..." He looked over to Holden, "Holden I'm so sorry..it appears that I had less power than I thought.." |
"Neither do I..." Alicia sighed as she helped lay Solomon on the bed. "Will do Jae."
"Thanks, Jae... By the way don't be such a stranger." Holden waved as Jaelynn disappeared. He crossed his arms as he watched Solomon stir, "You should of drank the glass of blood I gave you..." He sighed. "Solomon, I deserve to know what is going on here. And your not going anywhere until you tell me the truth." He adjusted his arms over his chest. |
He ran his hand through his hair, "If I knew what was going on Holden, I would tell you." He sighed a bit, "What was Jaelynn doing here?" "What did she say about that cat?"
|
"Whatever Solomon." Holden turned around. "There was an imaginary cat here." He shook his head as he went to his dresser.
"It's one of the Charuns minions. They can control spirits and they choose animals, because they are easier to control." Alicia sighed quietly. |
"I see. Should he know? A cat? What is she up to now?" He sighed again shaking his head slightly, "I'll never understand what goes through their minds..."
|
"I think he should, and you never know, maybe he knows something. And it would help him understand what has been happening to him." Alicia said running her hand through her hair. "I'm going to go and get cleaned up." She put on a fake smile and disappeared.
"I don't know Solomon." Holden sighed as he grabbed his clothes out of the hamper. He walked into the bathroom to get dressed. |
"But I don't want him to try and get involved or even more worried. I don't want him to know I was lying to him either..I hate lying to him, but it's for his benefit...I hope." He frowned a bit as she left and Holden went to the bathroom.
|
"I know Solomon, I hate lying to him to." Alicia sighed as she looked in the mirror. "I could always tell him, I would rather he be mad at me not you." She shook her head.
Holden sighed as he buttoned up his shirt, he opened the door and walked out. "I'm going to go and make some breakfast, want some?" He ran his hand through his hair as he walked to the door. |
"If you want to do that...I won't make you." He stood as Holden came out, "I'll just have some coffee when I get down there..." He disappeared for a moment before returning fully dressed in a black vest, tie and pants and a white shirt. He was a bit thankful Holden was already downstairs by now. He stood there for a moment, "He's mad at me..I know it.."
|
Alicia appeared next to Solomon wearing a peach colored skirt, a white tee shirt, and a button down cashmere sweater. "He knows something is up." She crossed her arms. "I don't know Solomon, I wish he would of let me turn him. He would at least be able to see these damn things." She sighed. She put her hand up, "I know he has to stay human, at least until this thing with the French is over." She shook her head.
Holden sighed as he removed the eggs and sausage links from the pan. "I can never get the truth." He shook his head as he poured two cups of coffee. He dropped two sugars into one of the cups, he poured some hot water into a third cup. |
"I don't want him to be a vampire period, it didn't help him any the last time and I doubt it'll help him this time around." He pinched the bridge of his nose, pacing slightly. "I just don't understand why we can't just be left alone. There's always something happening and tomorrow is that damn meeting crap with the French."
|
"I know you don't Solomon, but I think the last time he wasn't trained to use his powers. Other then telepathy, shape shifting, and teleportation." Alicia sighed. "I don't know Solomon, I wish I did." She pinched her nose.
Holden sat at the counter eating his little breakfast, he looked at the stairs and sighed. "I wish I was turned." He ran his hand through his hair. "If I was then Solomon wouldn't lie to me." He turned around and slowly lowered himself to the floor. He brought his knees to his chest, "I wish there was someone I could talk to about this." He leaned his chin on his knees. |
Mystic appeared, crouched under the table, peering around, "Sorry Holden..I had ot make sure she didn't beat me here." He teleported out, brushing off as he stood up, "I thought I would warn you...Five days in Acera's company did not make Melody any..gentler...she should be coming back any minute now.."
Solomon narrowed his eyes slightly at Alicia, "I told him I would turn him..and I will...but not for awhile yet. I want things to calm down so I actually have time to teach him." He shook his head slightly and headed for the door, "And now Mystic is here...marvelous..that means she isn't too far behind." |
"Fan-fucking-tastic Mystic. You shouldn't of sent her to Acera's!" Holden stood and put his hands on his hips. "She would of been safe at your house! And now I have to contend with the fact that Solomon is lying to me, Melody is gonna be on another fucking rage trip, and that I keep feeling a fucking coldness!" He was yelling by now. "And on top of all that, I have to deal with the motherfucking French tomorrow. Who probably aren't going to just let Melody fight for herself. They are gonna find a way to toss me into the mix!" He grabbed his hair and pulled on it. "I honestly sometimes wish I would of stayed dead." He threw his hands down in a act of defeat.
"I know Solomon..." Alicia trailed off as she heard Holden yelling. She opened her mouth to say something but quickly closed it. |
Mystic cringed, "I didn't have a choice Holden. I would much rather have just kept her locked downstairs at my house, but unfortunately I couldn't." He ran his hand through his shoulder length hair, "I'll be monitoring everything through her, if they touch you I'll be there to stop it. Wait what..coldness?" He looked to Solomon as he came in, "What haven't you told me Solomon?"
Solomon sighed as he entered the kitchen, "As if I didn't have enough to worry about...and I have no idea what you're talking about demon." He grabbed the cup of coffee heating it up a bit with a bit of power before taking a drink. |
Holden glared at Solomon, "Whatever Mystic... Just go get out of my house." He pointed to the door. He shook his head, "I can never have a moment's fucking peace. I'm a damn human here with a bad heart and everyone keeps piling it on there." He muttered as he walked out of the kitchen. "And I still have a shitload of stuff to do yet. But no, I can't do jack shit." He growled. He clenched his fists and punched the wall, breaking a few bones in his hand. He shook his hand and walked to the door. He opened it and narrowed his eyes, "What the fuck are you doing here?" He clenched his fists again.
"I...I just wanted to say I'm sorry." Asher looked at the ground. "Sorry!? That's all you can fucking say!? You get me fired because I'm gay and you have the gall waltz onto my property?" Holden stepped closer to Asher. "Holden I'm sorry... Please forgive me? I was just angry that you moved on." Asher looked up to Holden. "Forgive you? I could never forgive your sorry fucking ass." Holden clenched his fists harder. Asher walked closer to Holden and put his hand on Holden's shoulder. "Please?" Holden's eyes narrowed deeply when Asher touched him, he grabbed Asher's arm and twisted it. "Don't you fucking touch me!" He bent it backwards until he heard it snap. "Now get off of my property before I kill you." He let go of Asher's arm. Asher cried out in pain as his arm snapped, he quickly ran away when Holden let him go. Holden looked at Alicia who was coming down the stairs, "Not a fucking word. Got it!?" He slammed the door as he felt a twinge in his chest. |
"And that's why you're still human Holden..." Solomon set his cup down, crossing his arms over his chest, "Well, I need to get going...Holden I want you to stay here. You'll find it rather boring there, trust me."
Mystic came over, swatting Holden upside the head, sending his heart back into a steady rhythm, "First off, you do not talk to a demon like that. Secondly, I can't leave. I need to stay here to make sure Melody doesn't go ripping your damn teeth out...or kill your ex out there." He opened the door with a heavy sigh, "Melody Clair Rousseau!" Melody had appeared on Holden's front lawn as Asher came running and crashed into her on his path to the sidewalk. "Hey! You better watch it jack ass!" She quickly regained her balance and grabbed his other arm and forced him to the ground, looking up as Mystic called her name, "What!? Gah! Fine!" She let him go with a kick and cam eup to the door, "Happy?" Mystic sighed, changing his appearance so he didn't have purple skin, pointed ears and his wings, just in case. He grabbed Melody's arm and pulled her inside, "I should've kept you in the damn doll..." Melody pulled her arm away, "Yeah, yeah..." She sighed, running her hand through her hair, "Keep saying that..." She laced her fingers behind her back, looking to Holden, "It's my fault you're in trouble with the French again Holden and I'm really sorry." |
Asher skittered to his feet and ran away.
"No offense, but I don't consider you a demon. Your way to nice." Holden ran his hand through his hair. "You should of let her kill the fucking fool." He sighed. He pinched his nose, "It's not your fault Melody." He waved his free hand. "I'm the idiot that fucked with them in the first place." He sighed again. "I'm not saying that I'm not glad I met you..." He trailed off shaking his head. "Anyway, are you hungry Melody?" He looked at the girl. He sighed hearing Solomon speak but couldn't make out what he was saying. "Just a sec." He sighed as he walked to the kitchen. He peered in, "What were you saying Solomon?" He nearly falling over. "Well that certainly was interesting." Alicia said walking down the rest of the stairs. "Welcome back Melody." She gave the girl a small hug. "And don't worry about Holden, he is just upset with a lot of things right now. Solomon and I are lying to him, he got fired this morning." She whispered so Holden wouldn't hear her. |
