Wolfe nodded.
Laurel was in her room, sorting through the belonging's she'd saved. |
Raven paused before leaving. "... I'll see you at the party," he teased before going after Laurel. He knocked on Laurel's door before inviting himself in.
|
Laurel glanced up at Raven and managed a small smile, her eyes appearing a bit cautious.
|
Raven smiled back, ignoring Laurel's caution. "We have a mission~!" he announced happily to her.
|
Laurel blinked, "A what?" she asked, confused.
Kale was holding Blaze's hand again as they left the meeting, "What do you think about everyone going on tour?" he asked her. |
"We need to bake a cake for Tulip's birthday," Raven explained.
"... Staying on the move is a good idea," Blaze replied. |
Laurel blinked again, "They celebrate their birthdays?" she asked since no one else had.
Kale nodded, seeming to agree, "I believe we won't be preplanning any dates and places this time. We'll arrive at a venue, announce it to the city, and allow the public to buy tickets then." |
Raven shrugged. "Tulip does," he replied.
Blaze nodded a little, not saying anything else. |
Laurel shrugged slightly back, "So... they want a cake?" she repeated.
-- Kale was silent for awhile, "I suppose... I shouldn't be springing myself on you like this," he stated. |
"An angel food cake," Raven replied.
-- Blaze shook her head a little. "I... I'm just still a little surprised." |
Laurel nodded a little, "The kitchens here are well stocked, it should be easy enough to make." She seemed on board.
-- Kale nodded slightly, "... I guess I had more silence to think than you," he mused quietly. |
"Alright," Raven replied happily. "I have my mom's old angel food cake recipe on my pad."
-- Blaze was silent for awhile before she stopped walking. "... That's not..." she sighed a little. "I guess... It seems like you've changed so much," she said as she held their linked hands up. "In a good way... But I feel like I haven't changed at all." |
Laurel blinked, "Your mom made Angel Food Cake?" she inquired, showing some curiosity.
-- "There wasn't much need for you to change," Kale replied simply, "And it took me being by myself for awhile to see that." |
Raven nodded. "She cooks all kinds of things," he replied.
-- Blaze glanced away a little before looking back. "... I really missed you," she whispered. |
Laurel nodded a little before turning, "When do they need this done by?"
-- Kale squeezed her hand, "I wish I hadn't wasted all those days," he whispered back. |
Raven shrugged. "Probably by dinner," he replied.
-- Blaze glanced down for awhile before looking back up at Kale again, putting her free hand gently on the side of his face. "... The only day that really matters," she whispered, "is today." |
Laurel nodded a little, "Okay... we better get started then," she noted before heading for the door.
-- Kale managed a small smile, "Yeah..." |
Raven left with Laurel and a skip in his step.
-- Blaze left her hand there for a little while longer before taking it away, not pushing her luck. |
Laurel didn't have a skip in her step but she seemed to relax a little.
-- The moment Blaze started to move her hand, Kale grabbed it before pulling her closer into a deep kiss. He didn't want to be alone... not anymore... not ever again. |
Raven did his best to cheer Laurel up as they baked.
-- Blaze was very surprised, but after a moment she slowly relaxed and started to kiss Kale back deeply. |
Laurel finally started to warm up to Raven again as they baked, throwing a little flour at him and chuckling.
-- After a long moment, Blaze felt some wetness of her cheek. |
Raven chuckled, playing along.
-- After a short moment, Blaze started to pull away slowly. |
Once the cake was made, Laurel paused, "We should decorated it... for Tulip," she suggested, "Stuff she likes."
-- Kale was most definitely crying though he seemed rather confused. |
Raven smiled. "That's a great idea," he replied.
-- Blaze backed off a little, giving Kale some space. |
"Tulip. So... make the cake explode?" she suggested, perfectly serious.
-- Kale didn't appear to want space but the silent tears wouldn't stop. |
"... Or we could just use those sparkler candles," Raven suggested. By the hungry look on his face, he wanted to be able to eat some of the cake.
-- Blaze paused before reaching up and wiping some away. |
"Let's put firecrackers on the cake," Laurel suddenly suggested, "That should be enough boom without destroying the cake."
-- Kale let her, catching her hand and resting his cheek on it, "I thought you'd hate me," he whispered. |
"... Fake ones, right?" Raven asked. He was really hungry.
-- Blaze shook her head. |
Laurel rolled her eyes a little, "The cake would be perfectly intact even with the firecrackers," she reassured him.
-- Kale took his other hand and cupped her face, not saying anything. |
"And what if Tulip decides to light them?" Raven asked.
-- Blaze was at a loss for words too. So she leaned in to kiss him again. |
"The point is for them to be lit..." Laurel stated, "They're not a stick of dynamite, Raven."
-- Kale kissed her back. -- It looked like Rosen was waking again. He immediately started groaning. Snow sighed, "I'd hoped he would be out longer," she admitted quietly, "There are so many nerves on the hands..." |
"Will they burn the cake?" he asked worriedly.
-- Long was still out of it too. It looked like that time off the medication had brought him back to the start. |
Laurel took a deep breath, trying not to lose her temper with Raven, "If you'd prefer, we could bake a second cake just for you," she stated.
-- So Snow tended to both of them for the time being. |
Raven shook her head. "... Maybe we could do a citrus icing?" he brainstormed. "To add to the 'punch?'"
-- Long was doing his best not to look over at Rosen. |
Laurel shrugged, "Whatever."
-- "The testosterone still that high?" Snow mused as she took some more bloodwork. Rosen started to cry out but she did her best to ignore him for the time being. |
Raven sighed. He had gotten Laurel in a good mood and then he ruined it in ten seconds. This was one of the many reasons he like men. So he tried to put Laurel back in a good mood as they decorated the cake.
-- "... I'm fine," Long insisted, Rosen's cries clearly effecting him. His bloodwork had changed since Zala last took it. His medication needed some adjusting. |
Laurel seemed to get absorbed in decorating the cake, forgetting around Raven and everything else. She was very good at it. She piped on different explosives but also the pink and lace details she liked on her dresses. It was an odd mix but Laurel made it flow.
-- Snow made a few changes to his medication before increasing Rosen's pain medication. It seemed to help a little as the cries came less often. "Do you want me to put you in a separate room?" she offered. |
So Raven let Laurel relax and focus on the cake.
-- Long seemed rather torn. Then again his testosterone level was still too high. |
It took her a long time but finally stepped back and actually smiled. She was pleased with her work.
-- "You won't get any sleep if you stay in here," Snow noted, "There a room next door, you'd still be close by." |
Raven praised Laurel for her masterpiece of a cake.
-- Long sighed a little before nodding. |
