James smiled before kissing Yue's hand and turning to greet some of the girls.
Long woke to Rosen's quiet cursing. He was too tired to make more noise but the great pain was clear in his voice. He clearly had no pain tolerance at all. Snow was no where to be seen. Laurel watched Nic for a long moment, "Are you sure you want to know?" she whispered. |
So Yue let James socialize, going to clean up a little.
So Long slowly got up before finding some strong pain medication and giving it to Rosen. Nic paused before nodding. |
Rosen blinked groggily as the pain medication ran it's course. He glanced at Long before wincing. Even the potent pain meds didn't seem to be fully covering his pain.
Laurel took in a slow breath, closing her eyes for a moment before looking back at Nic with a look of determination, "I know where the lab is." |
Long didn't give Rosen any more since he didn't know more about how much his body could handle.
Nic didn't say anything, expression somehow remaining the same. |
Rosen groaned a little, "Knock..." he muttered, "out."
Laurel didn't seem surprised as she continued to stare at Nic. |
Long paused before nodding. He put a hand on Rosen's shoulder, feeling around before knocking him out painlessly. Then he gave Rosen an injection to keep him out for longer.
After a long moment and asked neutrally, "Why not tell anyone?" |
Snow came back, "Good, you knocked him out," she observed, "Now's a good time to move him in then."
"Because I'd die," she stated simply. |
Long nodded, moving to help Snow.
Nic nodded a little, running a hand on her head gently. "Don't tell anyone," he agreed. |
Once they got Rosen in the infirmary, Snow suggested Long get hooked back up on what he was on. "I'll go get your box," she noted.
Laurel's eyes filled with relief, "Then you understand why I can't stay here," she choked quietly. |
Long nodded a little. He was starting to look worse for the wear again. So he collected what he remembered before putting an IV in himself and laying down on one of the beds.
"Shh," Nic told her. "Try to rest." |
Snow looked after both of them until Zala showed up, then she went to look for Wolfe.
Laurel couldn't help but feel Nic was patronizing her but she didn't hate it. After a moment she closed her eyes and tried to do what he told her... rest. It wasn't hard for her to do, she felt relieved for having told Nic about at least part of her secret. |
Nic stayed until Laurel fell asleep. Then he went about sorting things out, figuring Wolfe would want to talk to him.
|
Wolfe met with Nic and Kale first before calling everyone together over. Even Laurel showed up to the meeting.
|
Raven and Yue came to the meeting. Long remained in the hospital.
|
Wolfe looked around at them, "There is no doubt that it was CLIKZ that attacked us," he stated simply, "Both Kale and Dominic have confirmed their base in the area. It seems that CLIKZ's reach is farther than I had anticipated." He sighed a little. Most of the neonates looked in low spirits, well, except Tulip. "We don't know how they found us. It's possible they spotted some of us around but the odds of that are slim."
"I saw Hayden, I think," Laurel stated quietly. Wolfe blinked at her, "When?" he demanded. Laurel explained about the first time, when she'd gone to the club with Nic. She thought she'd seen him in the crowd and chased after him. The second time when she'd been racing Nic on the motorcycles. "Why didn't you tell us this?" Wolfe questioned. "I wasn't sure I actually saw him. I'm still not sure," she murmured. Wolfe sat back with a sigh, "Regardless, he traced our vary location even though we were constantly on the move. It doesn't make any sense to me," he admitted and Laurel stared at the table, shifting a little. "... Where's Rosen?" James suddenly asked. "In the infirmary," Wolfe replied, "He injured his hands badly." James frowned before falling silent. Laurel fidgeted a little more, wishing she hadn't come. |
Nic frowned a little, still not sure he believed that Laurel saw Hayden.
|
Wolfe stared at Nic, "You didn't see Hayden?" he asked.
|
Nic paused before shaking his head.
|
Wolfe nodded a little, glancing at Laurel for a moment before looking around the room. They went on to discuss where the best option was for them to go. Eventually it was concluded that going on tour again would be the most convenient. James seemed to have mixed feelings about it.
|
Yue seemed to be doing fine. Nic was neutral as always.
|
Eventually it was decided, they were all going on tour. Except Rosen and Long who would stay behind until they were well and then join the rest of the group.
|
So everyone started to leave. Nic took Laurel back to her room. Raven stayed behind.
|
Laurel seemed rather upset by the events of the meeting. When she got to her room she turned to Nic, "When can we go?"
Wolfe looked at Raven with a small, weary smile. "We're lucky no one was killed," he stated quietly. |
"... We should stay until we learn more," Nic replied.
Raven nodded a little. After a moment he walked over to Wolfe and gave him a hug. |
"About what?" Laurel asked quietly.
-- Wolfe hugged him back, "Sorry for not finding you right away," he said quietly, sounding a little guilty. |
"How to keep you safe," Nic replied simply.
-- Raven shook his head a little, pulling away. "I can take care of myself," he replied with a small smile. "You worry about everyone else." |
Laurel paused before dropping her gaze, "I just... can't be as guilt-free as you are," she whispered.
-- Wolfe nodded a little, seeming relieved, "... Can I ask you something... odd?" he inquired after a moment. |
"We'll figure something out soon," Nic promised.
-- "... Sure," Raven replied. |
Laurel slowly looked up at Nic, her gaze seemed trusting as she nodded and suddenly hugged him rightly.
-- "Do you feel that Laurel is... acting strangely?" he asked quietly. |
Nic hugged Laurel back, but it looked like he had other stuff he wanted to get done.
-- Raven paused before nodding a little. "But I'd probably be off if I was dating Nic too," he joked. |
"I'm glad you're back," she told him quietly as she let him go, recognizing he had other things to do.
-- Wolfe smiled slightly, "She doesn't seem to be holding up very well..." he noted. |
Nic kissed Laurel lightly on the forehead before leaving.
-- Raven paused before nodding again. |
"I don't think there's much we can do about it," Wolfe sighed, "Our last effort to intervene didn't... exactly help."
|
Raven sighed a little. "... Hopefully it will work itself out," he noted.
|
Wolfe nodded a little, "At least tension between other pairs seems to have decreased." Which seemed like an odd statement coming from Wolfe.
|
Raven paused before nodding, surprised to hear that observation from Wolfe.
|
"Gives me headaches," he muttered, "Oh, and it's Tulip's Birthday today and crisis or not... she expects a cake," Wolfe sighed, "Can you see if you can talk Laurel into making one? Perhaps that can brighten her spirits."
|
Raven nodded. "I'm on it," he said happily. "What's her favorite kind?"
|
"Angel food cake," Wolfe replied.
|
Raven chuckled a little. "My mom made me bake that a few times. I better get Laurel to help."
