"Remember how you made the bow?" Rosen asked, "It's the same thing, only you have more options."
Long glanced around at everything, taking a long time to get his head wrapped around the notion. Then it seemed even longer for him to try and figure out a design. But he seemed to almost immediately eliminate most of the decorations. Even for a pop-sickle box, he seemed to have expensive taste.
(lolz)
Rosen continued to work on his cheap looking box, eyeing Long every once in awhile out of the corner of his eye. |
Like with the bow, Long started over many times. As Rosen was finishing, Long had barely gotten anything done.
Rosen seemed to get bored fast but he liked watching Long. He never mentioned Long's slowness, seeming fascinated by his focus.
So Long kept working, ignoring Rosen fairly well while he worked. In the end it hardly looked like a pop-sickle box any more.
Rosen blinked at Long's work, "Wow..." he muttered before chuckling, "See? I'm a total genius, I knew you had a knack for design!" He continued congratulating himself for awhile.
Long seemed confused, but he didn't argue with Rosen.
"You wanna do a bird house?" he offered next.
"... A bird house?" Long asked.
"This one," Rosen explained, handing him a small bird house, "We can give it to Laurel after. I'm sure her finches could use a new house."
Long stared at it blankly like he was questioning whether or not the small house was fit for some birds.
Rosen rolled his eyes, "They like it... look," he pulled up his tablet and showed Long a few pictures of perfectly happy birds in their bird houses.
Long still seemed confused, but shrugged before trying to figure out what to do with the bird house.
Rosen started on another Popsicle box
It took Long a lot longer to do the bird house. But when he was done the finches had a very elegant and ribbon-y bird house to live in.
Rosen had dozed off somewhere between Long's long ribbon picking and the application. He woke with a yawn and then gasped at the bird house, "What the terr?!" he demanded.
Long frowned, glancing back at the bird house and trying to figure out what he had done wrong.
"That's lava!" Rosen exclaimed and immediately was all over Long and his bird house, peering at it intently.
Long still seemed a little lost.
"You're really, really good at this Long!" Rosen tried to get through to him, "Have you ever had a chance to create before?"
Long paused before shaking his head a little.
"You want to do another craft? How about something for Yue?" he offered.
Long frowned a little before shaking his head.
"Why not?" Rosen pressed.
"Yue wouldn't want it," Long replied simply. He didn't seem upset, just stating a fact.
"You sure about that?" Rosen replied, "She's changed a lot, you know."
Long nodded; he was sure.
"Okay... will you make me one?" Rosen asked, a little eager.
Long blinked. "... Alright," he replied. "... What do you want?"
"Umm..." Rosen looked at the table, "I want a Popsicle box because mine's dirt. I like darker colors and video games and nudity so if you could incorporate that in somehow that'd be great!" he grinned.
"... Alright," Long replied, just accepting it before looking through the supplies available one more time.
So Rosen took another nap.
When Rosen woke up, it sounded like Long was in the shower. But the box seemed pretty much done. It was simpler than his other two designs, but it was very sleek. He had wrapped it in several pieces of black leather that overlapped with a red leader oblong triangle piece of leather peaking through on the top and several red and green jems scattered throughout the cracks of leather. He had also added a small leather loop to the front of the box to open it. When the lid was flipped open, the entire interior of the box was covered in a mesh of red lace.
And so a totally excited Rosen kicked the door in just the right place and it burst open to Long in the shower. "It's amazing!" he shouted to Long with a grin.
The steam made it difficult to see, but Long's figure was in the glass shower. There was a small crash as something Long was holding hit the ground. Then Long seemed to slip a little and there was another small bang as he fell.
"Whoa! Are you okay?" Rosen asked as he reached for and pulled back the door. That's when Long could see he was really worried.
Long was crouched on the ground holding his head with one of his hands, but it didn't look like he had injured himself too badly. "... Fine," he replied quickly, still in a bit of a daze.
On the ground was a small hand-held anti-fog mirror which thankfully hadn't broken. There was still evidence of many of his injuries, but he was defiantly mending up well. Though he'd probably be left with a few scars. |
Rosen quickly grabbed a towel before turning off the water and stepping into the shower. "Sorry..." he muttered wrapping the towel around Long, "Didn't mean to scare you that bad. Guess I didn't think you were the jumpy type," he explained as he rubbed Long's shoulders.
Long was still a little dazed as he shook his head a little. He moved his hands to move Rosen's hands. And as he took his hand off his head, it revealed a small, ugly colored ribbon tied around a small lock of Long's hair. It looked like he had taken it from the crafting table. "I'm fine," Long repeated.
