James didn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon as his voice became only more panicked. THen suddenly he shouted at the top of a voice that was not his own, "WHO AM I?!"
Yue kept sobbing, still unable to perceive the world around her.
James fell back into muttering, then slowly his voice became more like his usual one. "I... am..." the pitch was too low. "I am..." too high. He took a deep breath, "I am James Taylor." It was his normal voice. "James... Taylor." He concentrated on breathing in and out deeply.
Yue's condition still hadn't changed.
Slowly James removed the arms from his face and looked at Yue. He said nothing as he watched her.
Yue's mind was still lost. There was no telling when she might find her way back.
James stared at her for a long moment, not moving. Then slowly he stood and went over to her, picking her up in her arms.
When James touched her, Yue started screaming in Chinese. Screaming for her brother to come and help her. To save her from the one that was trying to hurt her.
James didn't let her go, it was a very short trip in his arms. He quickly deposited her in the front seat, strapping her in before backing off.
She kept screaming for her brother, hands still clamped tightly over her ears. But after another minute, she started to calm down ever so slightly, just sobbing for her brother now.
James said nothing as he took a seat in the pilot's chair. After a moment he stripped off his sweatshirt and draped it over Yue. Then he buckled himself in and started up the Juttle.
All the way back, all Yue did was ask for her brother, tears still falling down her face.
James never responded. When they landed, James left Yue strapped to her seat and went on inside.
He went straight to Wolfe, who happened to be speaking with the older woman who had tended to Yue. James went right up to Wolfe, stopping right in front of him as he glanced at the woman. "Yue is in the Juttle... tend to her again." he said quietly and the woman nodded. Wolfe looked terribly worried as he took in James's condition. The woman stepped into the Juttle and glanced around for Yue. |
Yue was right where James left her, still asking for her brother.
The woman looked her over before heading to the Juttle's kitchen and coming back with a damp towel. She took a seat beside Yue, gently unbuckling her before starting to wipe the makeup off her face with the cool towel.
Yue tried to fight her off a little, but it wasn't too difficult to keep her in check with her hands over her ears like that.
The woman hummed a bit to herself as she continued to clean Yue off. When she was done she left for a minute and came back with some water which she held to Yue's lips.
Yue refused to drink, spitting the water back out. The tears started up again, and she persisted for her brother to come.
So the woman put the water down and draped the cool cloth over Yue's eyes. She seemed content to wait Yue out.
It looked like she wasn't going to stop until her body wore out or her brother arrived.
The woman watched Yue for awhile before leaving again. This time she returned with a handful of pepper which she promptly held under Yue's nose.
Yue started to sneeze, which seemed to frustrate her more, calling louder for her brother.
The woman kept her sneezing. Whenever it looked like she had stopped, the pepper was back under her nose.
Yue started throwing a fit, screaming for help. But after a few minutes Yue's hands suddenly flew forward and grabbed the woman's hands. "What the terra is your problem, James?!" she demanded, pissed off. But after a moment, she blinked as she started to come back to herself. She cussed as she found herself falling back into her mind. She fought it, but it looked like it might be a loosing battle.
The woman promptly threw the remaining pepper in her face, "Don't you dare." he stated as Yue started to fall back.
Yue coughed as she inhaled the pepper, helping her a little bit. She kept fighting, but her body was just too weak. She seemed to start settling somewhere in between here and the place she had been.
"You want a drink?" the woman asked.
Yue was quiet for a long moment before shaking her head.
"Want something to eat?" the woman asked, rubbing Yue's hand
Yue shook her head again. She tried to stand, but that didn't work so well.
"Want to do inside?" the woman inquired as she watched her fail to stand, "I can piggyback you." she offered with a nod.
Yue shook her head again. "... I'll... just rest here," she replied in a quiet, hoarse voice.
"Want to go to a pod?" she asked, "There's a couple in the back."
Yue shook her head as she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. She blinked at the cupcake sweater slipped off and fell onto the ground.
The woman blinked at the sweater as well, "... want an actual blanket?"
"... I'm fine," Yue replied quietly, pulling her legs a little closer.
So the woman picked up the sweater, tossing it in the back before settling back into the chair next to Yue and closing her eyes.
Slowly, Yue closed her eyes as well. It took a long time, but she finally fell asleep.
Kale woke with a yawn. Man, he had gotten too much sleep yesterday. He slowly blinked his eyes open and cried out slightly at the sun, hiding his face in... Blaze? He felt around, yep... that was Blaze. He'd somehow ended up right beside her. He tossed the blanket over his head and began feeling around for his bag.
As Kale started moving around, Blaze let out a yawn. "That's not your bag," she noted groggily as he felt around. "Try under your head."
