"Now let's see," Rosen continued as he put his hand over Long's and touched the bow, "Starting over on the bow would be easy, lots of seaweed here for you to do so..." he stated, "Starting over with me would be more difficult, but would you like to, Long?" he asked, still looking at his face.
Long was quiet for a short moment before nodding slowly.
Rosen smiled, "Alright," he replied, "I'll pretend this little kidnapping didn't happen. After all, you didn't actually hurt me, just bruised my ego a bit. But don't try it again," he stated, putting a gentle hand on Long's cheek, "Okay?"
Long didn't say anything, avoiding Rosen's eye contact the best he could.
"You know what you really need to start over?" Rosen continued, still watching Long, "Forgiveness. And guess what Long?" he chuckled, "I forgive you for acting on your instincts and attempting to kill me!" He tugged on Long's cheek a little, stretching it out. So much for difficult.
Long remained silent and avoided eye contact, but he seemed confused as Rosen tugged on his cheek.
Rosen continued to tug, "How can I not forgive this cute face?" he sighed with a smirk.
Long still seemed confused, looking rather silly.
"So, you want to start everything over," Rosen mused, finally letting go of his cheek, "Well then, friend, I'll help you. Do you have any idea where you'd like to start?"
Long struggled not to completely slip away again. Everything was seeming to overwhelm him at once.
Rosen paused before hugging Long, "It's okay," he told him quietly, "You can start small."
Long still said nothing, not hugging Rosen back.
Rosen paused for a moment, "Okay, how about sand castles? Have you ever made a sand castle?"
Long paused before shaking his head.
"Then let's make one. It's part of childhood," he explained before letting go of Long and pushing the seaweed away from them.
Long sat there quietly, not sure what Rosen was doing.
Once a big enough space was cleared in front of him, Rosen started scooping up the slightly damp sand, "First you have to make a wall," he explained, "to keep out the ocean." He started dropping scoops of sand into a line.
Long just watched Rosen as he constructed the sand castle.
Rosen explained everything he was doing to Long as he started actually building the castle, when the basic structure was done, he turned to Long, "Now we decorate it," he explained before grabbing some seaweed and handing it to Long, "Help me out."
Long still seemed confused, but after awhile he gave it a shot. And like the bow, he was being very particular about decorating the sand castle.
Rosen sat back and let him have at it, smirking at Long's particularity.
It took a long time for him to finally find something he seemed to like. But this seemed like a much bigger job to him than the bow. Or maybe it was just easier to be particular about the small things than to think about other things.
"I think I've decided what we're going to do," Rosen stated when it looked like Long was done. He'd been tanning again.
Long didn't say anything, sitting down quietly as he looked at his work.
"We're going to channel what would have been your kindergarden grades years," Rosen decided with a grin, "That should help the 'starting over' process."
Long blinked blankly, not sure if he liked that idea.
"It makes sense right?" Rosen argued against Long's blank stare, "I'll help you start over from the beginning. Theoretically I would say the beginning of the beginning but that would involve diapers and I don't want to do there," he nodded with a wise expression.
Long started questioning to himself whether or not Rosen was in any way qualified for something like this.
Rosen, oblivious, was checking out Long's sand castle. "You're really good at this stuff," he praised, "I'm not that patient."
Long didn't say thank you.
Rosen looked up at Long, "So have you figured out why you couldn't kill me?" he inquired as he wrapped a piece of seaweed around his neck playfully.
Long shook his head.
"Hmm," Rosen mused, "Maybe cause I'm so hot?" he offered seriously.
Long shook his head again.
"'Cause of my great personality?" he asked.
Long shook his head once more.
"Hmm..." Rosen mused, seeming lost, "Well, then I don't know either," he decided. "Oh! Is it because I'm your friend?" he grinned triumphantly.
Long shook his head one last time.
"You sure? 'Cause as I recall, that's the last thing you said before you... ya' know, knocked me out." Rosen replied with a raised eyebrow.
Long nodded slowly, not looking at Rosen.
