i've only done it since 2011. finished and won in 11, 12, and 13.

SolarCat 10-31-2014 02:42 PM

I only did it one year, back in college, although I did hit my count then.

I love to write... I just haven't had the time in a long time.
And now I'm back in school again, so there goes that theory! :p-cry:

One of these years... I really want to finish my book(s) - I have lots of beginnings but no endings.

Have you ever read a book by Italo Calvino called If On A Winters Night A Traveler ...? It's the story of this guy who starts reading a book and finished the first chapter. Then goes out somewhere, doesn't have his book, so picks up a book to read while he's waiting and reads ... the first chapter.

Through the book he reads either 9 or 11 first chapters, and all of them except for one, I thought would make great books. I love Calvino's work and this is my second favorite book by him next to Cosmicomics.

I haven't tried Nanowrimo since 2008 I think. This year I know for sure I won't be writing. I can barely bring myself to talk to people most of the time. Although I could get a lot written with my dreams. What was the dream Witch?

trystan830 10-31-2014 07:34 PM

my nano's from 2011, 12, 13 were all started with a scene i dreamed.

i know a lot of HPLovecraft's stories were based on things he'd dreamed. that guy's head was probably one scary place!

That's really cool! I had never even considered anything like that.

Mostly I just write poetry right now, although someday I'll get back to the novels. In case you're interested, I keep all my writings here for the time being.

this sounds really cool... i'll have to see if my library has this book!

Witchchylde 11-15-2014 12:55 PM

Okay, so it's halfway through November and I haven't started writing,s o I guess i"m out for another year of NaNoWriMo. *shrugs* Like I said elsewhere, I like reading even more than writing.

trystan830 11-15-2014 05:07 PM

aw, it's ok, witchchylde.

*hides my wordcount widget in my sig...*

Ginger 11-16-2014 02:48 PM

That word count widget seems like a fun idea. I'll have to get one for my sig when I can get around to it.

trystan830 11-16-2014 03:23 PM

i quite like the widget. you can add other things to it, like the percentage complete, how many days... and there's other types of widgets, like a calendar that color codes your word count for each day.

Ginger 11-16-2014 04:44 PM

Oh wow. Yeah that's pretty cool. I remember the little games people would add to their MySpace profiles. I tried going to the site a couple weeks ago and it's blank. I had playlists on there of newly discovered music and that's all I used the site for.

trystan830 11-16-2014 04:49 PM

i haven't been on MySpazz in like forever....(well, hubby calls it MyWasteOfSpace...)

Ginger 11-16-2014 04:57 PM

It basically became a waste of space after 2009.

trystan830 11-16-2014 05:09 PM

hmm, good point.

Ginger 11-16-2014 05:35 PM

Apparently Justin Timberlake bought it and that's why he was almost always on the front page. Figures.

trystan830 11-16-2014 05:40 PM

yeah, that makes sense. i don't pay attention to stuff like that... especially if i've stopped using a site...

Ginger 11-16-2014 05:44 PM

I looked up information about the downfall of MySpace. Curiosity for me leads to research, and scoping out answers.

nothing wrong with that at all! =)

Ginger 11-16-2014 06:59 PM

Seems to be the best way to solve curiosity. Curiouser and Curiouser.

trystan830 11-16-2014 08:14 PM

as long as i don't find myself down any rabbit holes.... XD

Lucid: 11-16-2014 08:26 PM

When they re-created the website after Justin Timberlake bought it, I checked out the new design and stuff. It seemed pretty cool, but it's definitely specifically a music-focused social networking site now, whereas old Myspace and Facebook were both pretty general in theme. Being niche is good, but it also means it'll never have as wide an appeal as it used to and as Facebook now has.

this is very true. maybe in their case, niche is a good thing?

Tiva 11-16-2014 10:14 PM

Eh, it is in some ways but like how Trisphee is a niche community they struggle to stay active. I have no doubt the Myspace is barely breaking even or not making over 20% profit.

trystan830 11-16-2014 10:20 PM

it seems like there's surges... like right now, i'm sure Tris has had a surge with Unifaction and their move.

Lucid: 11-16-2014 11:25 PM

Oh, is Unifaction part of the reason why a lot of new people are joining? I'm not on any other sites so I don't really know what's up with them. I just thought that it was the event combined with user referrals. I'm sure the event is helping a lot in keeping people posting, though!

trystan830 11-16-2014 11:32 PM

yep. unifaction was going to upgrade to version 6, and it was all big hush hush, but we'll love it kind of secret.... that ended up looking too much like twitter, facebook, tumblr, and a lot of the uni user base was pretty outraged, because they came to uni to get away from social media. as it is now, ver 6 isn't so bad, and it'll be better once they get all the proper links working and such.

i came from Uni, but i wasn't totally outraged like some others were. i'm kinda easy-going when it comes to website communities.

i think this Nox event is awesome!

Tiva 11-16-2014 11:54 PM

I love Nox, in general, because it was my first ever event on Trisphee.

trystan830 11-16-2014 11:57 PM

it's my first event here too!

Tiva 11-17-2014 12:04 AM

I came here during Nox 2011, just a little bit over 3 years ago. God it has been so long.

trystan830 11-17-2014 12:07 AM

i've been on uni since 2009, and dragoncave since the end of 2008... o_O

Tiva 11-17-2014 12:15 AM

I have been on Gaia forever but i dropped it, in 2009 and I didn't bother picking it back up until i got into college.

Lucid: 11-17-2014 02:14 AM

I dropped Gaia a few months after coming here, and then about a year later I went back and gave away all my items to friends because (1) I felt bad letting some of my nicer items rot, and (2) it helped me to feel like I had "officially" cut the cord.
I missed the people on the site, but I hated the site itself, so it felt like if my friends had my items, they'd have something to remember me by. But, I had anonymously gifted most of it with messages that would point to me, because I like feeling sneaky.

dragoness129 11-20-2014 12:52 PM

I need to be more active because I am still trying to complete the Achievements.
I have been away from the site for a couple years, so trying to catch up on some things.

trystan830 11-20-2014 12:55 PM

hi there dragoness! i'm quite new here myself, just joined like a month ago.

btw, i LOVE your wings. =)

dragoness129 11-20-2014 01:52 PM

Thank you, they are Niya's Wings.

Welcome to the site! ^_^
I joined in 07-30-2010 myself, but went on hiatus for a couple years because of things in real life and lack of Internet connection.

trystan830 11-20-2014 02:02 PM

i'm guessing Niya's wings are an older item then?

don't you hate when your real life intrudes on your internet life? ;)

dragoness129 11-20-2014 02:24 PM

It is an old event item bundle. I think it is from the Taskal War 2010. Not 100% sure though.

trystan830 11-20-2014 02:35 PM

oooh. it's still cool. =)

Tiva 11-20-2014 03:47 PM

Yes those are from Niya's bundle, a pretty old one from 2010.
