"... Lash 'time I wash high?" Long guessed.
"You should laugh more," Rosen replied, "Without being high."
"I ain't sup-osed 't laugh," he informed Rosen.
"Says who?" Rosen demanded.
Long slurred something in quick Chinese again. Something about bodyguards and being professional.
Rosen suddenly cupped Long's face in his hands, "Being professional has nothing to do with laughing. Everyone's gotta have some fun in their life or... what's the point of being alive?"
Long blinked, looking confused. "... N't ev'bery one ish so lucky," he replied. "Life isn't fair."
Rosen snorted, "I know it's not, but it looks like life has dealt you a run by having Wolfe capture you," he explained, "You're going to like it here, Long... I promise."
Long looked confused. "... But I couldn't run," he replied. "Tat's why I got cap'ured."
Rosen shrugged, "It was a stroke of luck on your part," he stated, "You'll be happier here."
Long still wasn't completely convinced. "I couldn't run," he repeated quieter, trying to convince himself of something.
Rosen blinked, "Oh, well yeah, you were so injured it wasn't really fair I suppose. Do you know what happened to you?"
"Burning," Long replied quietly after a moment.
"Huh? You didn't have burn marks," Rosen noted.
"T'er was fire," Long replied, seeming convinced. "And 't was burning... I couldn't put 't out."
Rosen seemed confused, "Fire where? On your body?"
"E'ry where," Long replied quietly.
Rosen's frown deepened a little as he laid down next to Long and put his arm around him, "There's no fire to burn you here," he promised.
Long was silent for awhile before asking, "Do I 'ave 't use yur smelly sha'poo?"
Rosen smirked, "I'll buy you any kind you like," he reassured him.
"... Yur hair smells weird," Long reminded Rosen in case he had forgotten.
Rosen shrugged, "If I ever seduce you, I'll remember to change shampoos first."
"You said you wouldn't," Long reminded Rosen.
"I said 'If I ever' so it's like a joke... ah whatever," Rosen spat, "I never seduce people who have been molested. Ever."
Long suddenly got very quiet.
Rosen blinked, "What?" then he paused, "... oh..."
Long still didn't say anything. But he was looking at Rosen's hair like he was still trying to figure it out.
Rosen leaned closer and flicked his hair in Long's face again.
Long complained in Chinese again, swiping at Rosen's hair a little.
Rosen giggled, "See, no burning," he explained.
Long mentioned something in Chinese about the flame-repellant shampoo that Rosen supposedly used as the reason for the lack of burning. He also babbled something about the color red and a ribbon before closing his eyes to supposedly sleep some more.
Rosen stayed beside Long, his arm still around him. As Long dosed off, so did he.
Early in the morning Raven was snoring lightly, showing no signs of waking anytime soon.
Wolfe woke up a full ten minutes later than his schedule. He was surprised at himself and was about to get up when his eyes found Raven. He sighed a little and rolled over, wrapping his arms around him. One morning of being lazy, whatever.
Raven adjusted himself a little, but didn't wake.
So Wolfe missed his morning jog with Nic. Luckily, there was another person who filled in for him. Snow.
"Morning, Nic," she stated as she caught up with him and matched his pace. |
Nic acknowledged Snow's presence, but he didn't say anything. He preferred Wolfe's silence.
"So, Nic the sniper, huh?" she mused.
Nic didn't reply as he kept jogging like usual.
Snow ran for a little while in silence before sighing, "I need your help," she finally stated.
