"He'll be fine." Domino looked down at the shirt- it wasn't long enough to cover his hands. "...I'm fine."
|
Neko eyed him for a moment, before he pulled out one of his own shirts - this one in dark red - and handed it to the boy. "This one should be long enough."
Kayen moved over to the window and peered out, trying to catch sight of the mausoleum. |
"Long enough?" Domino raised an eyebrow.
The building outside was much like the church they were in- only much smaller. The gravestones were jutting up around it like jagged teeth on the uneven ground of the graveyard and. The place was actually lit up inside. |
"Maybe we should check on him," Kayen mumbled, frowning.
"I'm afraid all of these pants are going to hang right off of you," Neko admitted, moving over to the bed and gathering up the few blankets that were there. "I think we should. It gets very cold late at night." |
"You're worried about Chess?" Domino asked Kayen- still holding the shirt he'd been given.
|
"Of course!" Kayen said, turning to give him an almost cold look before nodding to Neko. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"Lets take him some blankets," Neko said, finally turning back around - Kayen quickly wiped the cold look and replaced it with a sad one. "Then we can see about getting you three fed." |
"...Food?" Domino blinked.
|
Neko smiled sadly. "Do you two know what this building is?"
"Cold?" Kayen offered. "This is a church," Neko explained. "It's a house of God." "Who?" Kayen asked. "God is the creator of all things," The red-head went on to explain, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. Kayen sat beside him and the man turned to him. "He loves everyone and everything... we are all children of him." "Even the Silver's?" Kayen asked. "Even the Silver's," Neko confirmed. "I am what is known as a Priest. I pass around the word of God... and it's not in my heart to let you three starve or suffer. So yes, Domino..." He turned to look at the other. "I will give you food. Hopefully Ryou will return soon with some." |
Domino was quiet. He wasn't much sure about this 'God' character, but he knew exactly who was responsible for his creation...and Kayen's, for that matter.
|
Kayen, however, seemed to be entranced... and it didn't appear to be fake, either.
"So Silver's... aren't evil?" He pressed, curiously. "Oh heavens, no!" Neko laughed. "They are kinder then most humans!" "But then... why did they create us to fight them?" The young teenager whispered. "Because men are flawed," Neko sighed, resting a hand on Kayen's head - which seemed to relax the boy. "They are consumed with greed. The Silvers have something precious to them and the men want it, but when the Silvers refused, a war broke out. It is not the fault of one man, but rather man as a whole." |
"Makes you wonder why they wouldn't hand over what we wanted in the first place." Domino said as he walked over- looking from Neko to Kayen. "Especially since it seems to be useless to them...and they struck first."
|
"It isn't useless," Neko informed. "Its their energy source... kind of like electricity to us. If a strange species came and tried to take all our electricity, would you be willing to just hand it over?"
"No!" Kayen said, standing up. "Not to mention that it was the humans that had us locked up!" He turned toward Domino. "We've been mad at the wrong people this whole time, Domino!" |
"Kayen." Domino sighed- not seeming surprised or really that upset.
|
"Come on, lets check on Chess," The boy said suddenly - reaching out and grabbing Domino's hand in a surprising move.
He started off and Neko gathered up the blankets, hurrying after them. |
Domino actually looked surprised as he was drug off- feeling Kayen's hand against his own through the long sleeve of his strap-jacket. He stumbled behind the boy with Neko right behind him.
|
They stepped outside into the cold night air and Neko grabbed the lantern, holding it high above his head.
He admired the way the two boys seemed to glide across the uneven ground, like they were walking on clouds. He stumbled around a little bit, but knew the ground well enough to know places he should not step. Soon enough they had reached their destination and he peeked inside. "Hello?" |
