Long reacted the same, pausing before shaking his head.
"What about animals?" Rosen asked before preforming a difficult move on the game.
Long took an extra moment, trying to compensate in the game but failed. "... I don't know," he replied.
Rosen raised his eyebrows, "Well, with Laurel around here you'll find out fast," he told Long, shivering a little as he remembered Amela's screech.
Long didn't seem to understand Rosen's reaction, but didn't let it distract him as he kept playing the game.
"What about..." Rosen paused, "clothes? You like clothes?"
"Huh?" Long asked, not understanding Rosen's question.
"Clothes..." Rosen repeated, "Do you enjoy... like... shopping?"
"I've never shopped for clothes," Long replied.
Rosen blinked, "What, you just get like... soldier issued armor at your door or something?"
Long thought for a short moment before nodding.
Rosen blinked at Long, "Seriously?"
Long paused before nodding again.
"I mean, I'm really not one for clothing... too boring to go to stores and dirt like that... but really?" Rosen exclaimed, "Here, let's see..." He suddenly switched off the game, using the controller as a remote as he flipped to an online shopping site. "Do you like anything here?" he asked, the site showcasing all kinds of styles and patterns, girls and boys clothing.
Long looked rather confused. He had clearly never done anything like this before. "... I don't know," he replied, a little overwhelmed.
"Which general style?" he pushed a little, not saying what was girls clothing and what was boys.
Long shook his head, unable to decide. It looked like he hadn't ever given this any thought.
"Nothing draws your eye a bit?" Rosen asked, narrowing down the choices a little.
After a little while longer, Long started to look less overwhelmed. Then he started to shake his head like he didn't want to choose.
"Okay then, shirts," he pulled up a few styles, "Any winners?" he asked, glancing at Long.
Long shook his head, starting to look more interesting in playing the video game some more than keep looking at clothes.
Rosen rolled his eyes a little before effortlessly switching back to the game, "Eventually you'll have to pick out some clothes for yourself," he warned Long, "No one's going to leave clothes at your doorstep around here. And you can't keep wearing James' clothing..." he added, motioning to the clothes Long was currently wearing, "Then Yue might fall for you and you'd have the richest man in the western hemisphere breathing down your neck."
Long frowned and even looked a little disgusted, not seeing how that could ever happen.
Rosen laughed out loud at his disgust.
Long didn't seem to get what was so funny, but he tried to focus back onto the game.
Rosen continued to be as challenging as ever as he laid back and relaxed.
Long still didn't seem to be improving as much. He started to tire of the game quickly, but he didn't complain.
"You know," Rosen stated after awhile,"You don't have to, you know, do whatever I say. It's almost no fun if you have no will of your own." Almost.
Long didn't quite seem to understand what Rosen meant. At least not yet.
"I'm not giving you orders, I'm trying to have some fun," Rosen tried again.
Long still seemed clueless.
Rosen sighed a little but was too lazy to be persistent, Long would eventually figure it out, right?
-- "Hey Nic," Laurel asked over breakfast, "Can we do something fun today?" |
"Fun?" Nic asked, not sure what Laurel meant.
"Can we get out and... do something we both like together?" Laurel asked. It looked like she wanted a distraction.
"... Like?" Nic asked.
Laurel paused, uhh what did they have in common that they both liked? What did Nic even like? "... We could... go look at motercycles?" She offered.
"... Alright," Nic replied.
Laurel nodded a little as she smiled, she was sure they could find a motorcycle store somewhere.
So Nic finished eating before doing a quick search for the closest motorcycle stores.
Laurel was eating less than usual. She stood when she was done, "I'm gonna change," she told him before heading to the bathroom. She'd pretty much moved into his room now.
