Fin seemed surprised when Frei walked in. And he wasn't as excited as he was the last time Frei had wanted to go swimming. He wondered if Wolfe might reconsider his latest decision if there was a repeat of what had happened last time.
|
Frei seemed to read his thoughts a bit because she shook her head, "Island," she stated.
-- "I found a new gamer for our group," Rosen proudly announced to Missy. |
"Island?" Fin asked.
-- "Huh?" Missy asked, not sure if she believed him. |
"C'mon Kitten," she stated impatiently.
-- "The new guy, Long," Rosen explained, "He's injured so he's gonna be in bed for awhile." |
"... There's got to be another animal I remind you of," Fin noted before going through his clothes to see if he had a bathing suit.
-- "... So you're going to force him to play video games?" Missy assumed. |
Frei frowned, "Sloth," she decided.
-- "Once he sees how cool they are, he'll join us willingly," Rosen defended. |
Fin gave Frei a sour look before continuing to sift through the clothes. Eventually he found some swimming trunks and went off to put them on.
-- Missy rolled her eyes. |
Frei waited, adjusting her bikini top.
-- Rosen shrugged, "He's an assassin like Wolfe, let's pick out some games for him," he decided as he started to sift through his almost limitless collection. |
Eventually Fin came out and packed his backpack with what he thought he might need.
-- "I'm tired of being around assassins," Missy wined a little. |
Frei shrugged, "You're driving," she informed him as she turned to leave.
-- Rosen rolled his eyes, "Just help me look," he replied as he continued looking |
Fin took a deep breath and sighed a little before following after Frei.
-- Missy sighed a little before looking for some games that would be easier for a beginner to pick up. |
Frei went to a hovercraft and took the pilot seat, she pointed at Fin and then at the co-pilot seat.
-- "I mean, you could always go hang around Raven... oh opps, then you'd be around Wolfe," he said in fake deep thought, "Or Laurel... oh opps then you'd be around Nic. Oh well, guess you're stuck with me," he grinned. |
Fin raised his eyebrows a little. First a motorcycle and then a hovercraft? He looked a little overwhelmed as he slowly sat down.
-- "Or I could just leave," Missy noted. |
Frei ordered Fin to watch her closely as she started up the engine and slowly took off
-- "True, I'm sure Wolfe could wipe your memory," Rosen agreed before glancing at Missy, amused, "But you won't do that." |
Fin watched, but there were a lot of steps...
-- "That wouldn't be necessary," Missy replied calmly. |
"Now you can steer it," she stated, "Nothing to hit."
-- "That would be Wolfe's call, now wouldn't it?" Rosen shrugged. |
Fin swallowed a little, slowly taking the wheel.
-- "There's no reason for him to do so," Missy replied. |
With the power steering, it really wasn't that hard to keep the ship in a straight line.
-- Rosen glanced at Missy and raised an eyebrow, "You really wanna leave?" he inquired. |
Fin was still a little stressed, but he did alright.
-- Missy shrugged. |
"Seriously?" Rosen asked, looking hurt, "You have some place better to be or somethin'?"
|
"Don't be offended," Missy replied. "I don't usually spend so long in one place."
|
"That's a sad life," he told her seriously.
|
"Sitting on your butt all day every day playing video games is also a sad life," she noted.
|
Rosen chuckled, "At least I'm with people who are my friends and who I consider my family," he retorted, "And I don't sit on my butt every day."
|
"I don't have any family," she replied, "and you pretty much do."
|
"Well I technically don't either. Never did. But I made my friends close enough to be my family. If you keep running away you'll never have that." Then he stuck out his tongue, "And how do you know? You've never seen me work. When I'm on call, I work harder than the rest of them so I relax the rest of the time," he leaned back for emphasis.
|
"Who says I want a family?" Missy asked, and rolled her eyes at Rosen's comment about work.
|
Rosen stared at her for a moment, "'Cause you don't strike me as a loner like Nic."
|
"Just 'cause I don't have family doesn't make me a loner. I have plenty of friends," Missy replied.
|
Rosen shrugged, "Well, whatever you want," he replied dismissively, "Just be ready to deal with Wolfe if you want to leave. But for now, help me find a game."
|
"You're the one that's getting distracted," Missy noted as she kept looking through games.
|
Rosen scrunched his nose a little.
-- Frei handled the landing as they stopped on a little, rather cute island. She unstrapped herself and looked at Fin. |
Fin blinked, surprised this is where their destination was. But he unbuckled himself and went to check it out.
|
The island had tide pools as well as open beach. There were also shells and a small coral reef off shore. It looked like Frei had been around here before and scouted this place out.
|
"Oh, cool," Fin said as he went over to the closest tide pool.
|
Frei looked over his shoulder for a moment before bending down and grabbing a starfish.
|
Fin watched Frei pick it up. "That's a nice one," he told her.
|
Frei flipped it over and played with the little suckers on the back. She let a smile creep on her face as they suctioned onto her finger.
|
Fin chuckled a little as he pulled a bigger starfish out of the tide pool.
|
As Fin bent down, Frei stuck the starfish on the back of his neck.
