Kale smiled as Blaze rested her head on him. "You're useful." he teased her, "Like my own personal heater."
James was a bit surprised as he took a seat across from Yue, "Is that spiked?" he asked. |
"Haven't heard that before," Blaze noted. It wasn't clear if she was joking or not.
Yue glanced down at the hot chocolate. "... I don't think so..." she replied as she looked at her hand for evidence that she wasn't sober. Surprisingly, she was still sober. |
Kale smirked before looking up again, "Oh, good. I was hoping it would clear up tonight. This spot is the best for seeing the stars." he said happily, a bit childlike.
James looked a bit shocked, "Should I spike it for you?" he asked, not clear if he was serious of joking. |
Blaze blinked a little before looking up at the sky.
Yue paused, but then shook her head before going back to poking at the marshmallows. |
Kale smiled, "One of the source of light I can look at without discomfort." he explained, "I think they're beautiful."
James nodded, "Just wanted to give you update on Laurel. Things seem to be progressing fairly smoothly and much better than I expected. If it keeps going like this, it should be settled before Nic gets back from whatever he's doing." he explained. |
Blaze didn't say anything as she kept looking at the sky.
"Hmm," Yue acknowledged. |
James suddenly stole the hot chocolate away from Yue and took a small sip, "Hmm, really not spiked." he agreed as he set it back down in front of her.
Yue glared at James a little and pushed the hot chocolate in front of him. "Keep it," she told him.
James chuckled, "I see you're as feisty as ever." he chirped.
Yue didn't give him anything else to go off of as she sat there quietly.
James raised an eyebrow before picking up the hot cocoa and sipping it calmly. His eyes never left hers though.
She wasn't looking at James, and she didn't seem to notice he was still looking at her.
"Hey." James suddenly stated, "You're strong!" He made a fist and nodded firmly before taking a large gulp of the cocoa.
Yue gave James a funny look before looking away again.
James chuckled, "How's that coming for ya?" he asked after he had finished the hot cocoa, "You figuring out ways of becoming stronger?"
"That isn't your business," Yue replied. So, not really.
James smiled, "Suuure it is." he nodded, "The more you verbally spar with me, the stronger you get mentally, right?" he argued easily.
"... You mean the more mentally fatigued I get," Yue retorted.
"And the less you get caught up in your own depression." James continued with a smile. "So, what should we argue about today?"
"Your logic is dirt," Yue replied.
"I beg to differ." James replied with a casual nod, "My logic is a boulder."
"That falls crashing down into a million pieces when you test it," Yue replied.
"You mean it flies upward and explodes into a millions pretty sparks when I test it." James grinned.
Yue stared blankly at James for a moment. "Nothing that comes out of your mouth makes sense," she decided.
James laughed a bit, "Like a firework. A firework." he explained, "A big, rainbow colored firework."
"And you're sure you're not gay?" Yue asked. "Or perhaps a little bi?"
James laughed a little louder, "No chance." he winked at Yue, "No chance at all. That whole thing grosses me out, it's a wonder I can stand Wolfe." he chuckled.
"And yet your mind is a big rainbow colored firework. I'm not the only one around here that needs help." She replied.
James smirked a little but his smile was fading, "Yes, because your mind is filled with nothing but darkness."
Yue was silent for a long moment. "... There certainly aren't any rainbow fireworks in there," she decided quietly.
"You've got not fireworks going off." James said sadly, "You've lost the spark."
"I'm pretty sure there never were any fireworks to begin with," Yue explained. "You're the only one with fireworks in your head."
James forced a bit of a smile, "Yeah, maybe." Then he paused, "Yue, something's going on that you're not telling me, right? That night I found you crying in the bathroom... Sheng said something... betrayed you... right?" he asked gently.
Yue didn't reply, turning her head away. It looked like she didn't want to talk about it.
"... C'mon, how can I help if I don't know what's eating at you so bad?" James asked seriously.
"No one can help," Yue replied.
James snorted, "Sure." He watched her for a long moment, "Don't make me get you drunk again." he threatened a little halfheartedly.
That seemed to shut her off a little more.
James leaned forward a bit, peering at her closely, "What are you going to do, Yue? Traveling doesn't seem to be helping you at all." he sighed.
"... I don't know," Yue replied honestly. "Probably just one day at a time."
