#000000 07-26-2014 07:26 PM

Espy 07-27-2014 01:20 AM

Lucid should maybe buy some raspberry cheesecake for me if she visits :P

#000000 07-27-2014 04:16 AM

Sabrehagen 07-27-2014 10:02 AM

Lucid: 07-27-2014 03:36 PM

#000000 07-27-2014 04:37 PM

Lucid:: That's naughty. Teehee!!

jaguarlyra 07-27-2014 04:43 PM

#000000 07-27-2014 04:47 PM

Would you like just one flavor or all of them?

jaguarlyra 07-27-2014 05:16 PM

Give me all the cheesecakes :) at 8:23 until then let me gaze upon them :).

Lawtan 07-27-2014 05:33 PM

Ohhh...celebration time soon? :)

#000000 07-27-2014 05:36 PM

in about 3 hours, but yes. It's only 1:35pm for me at the moment. And my brother doesn't get off work until 3pm. so it'll be sometime after he gets home.

But on a slightly unrelated note, my baby brother got his first job :D

Lucid: 07-28-2014 08:23 PM

Ooooh, congrats to him! :D
My friend from junior high/high school was on the Today Show this morning on a segment about first jobs.

#000000 07-29-2014 12:12 AM

Ooooo! Sounds interesting! I doubt I could ever get on television... that kind of stuff scares the tar out of me.. Kinda like driving..

Lucid: 07-29-2014 07:55 PM

Every time I drive I'm paranoid that my front right tire is going to burst... D: the front right side of the car vibrates differently than the rest...but I checked the tire pressure and it's fine so I dunno. I have a long commute every day so I just have to ignore it and pray I don't die.

IT'S GONNA DIEEEE

#000000 07-29-2014 10:12 PM

Lucid :: eeek! That would scare the poop right outta me!
But sadly I really do need to learn to drive so I can finally stop counting on other people to take me where I need to be.

Espy :: Bu..but.. Not if I ship it in a cooler on overnight shipping.. maybe..

Lawtan 07-30-2014 08:43 AM

Cheesecake can...die? Cheesecake is a lifeform? O.e

Coda 07-30-2014 11:07 AM

<pedant>Saying it can "die" is an anthropomorphism, but certainly a cheesecake can spoil and/or be destroyed, which renders it no longer suitable as a cheesecake, which can be figuratively referred to as death.</pedant>

Lawtan 07-30-2014 01:04 PM

I don't know if that is an obvious statement, or not. *shrugs*

Coda 07-30-2014 01:15 PM

Hence the "<pedant>" tag :P

Lawtan 07-30-2014 05:02 PM

Interesting...that will have to be my new word for the day.

#000000 07-31-2014 12:17 AM

I think my word for the day is anthropomorphism. A word I have actually only used a few times.

jaguarlyra 08-01-2014 09:47 AM

ELI5 what that word means please.

Coda 08-01-2014 10:53 AM

Which word, "anthropomorphism"?

It means to treat something that isn't human as if it were human in some way. For example, having a talking animal in a story is an anthropomorphism, because animals can't talk, but humans can.

jaguarlyra 08-01-2014 05:54 PM

Ohhh. For some reason I thought that it might mean giving the traits of an animal to a human. Thanks for the answer.

Lawtan 08-01-2014 11:15 PM

I think there was a term for that...but I can't recall/find it at the moment. ;~;

Horror Babe 08-02-2014 03:30 PM

Do i owe anyone anyhting?
People havent been leaving me messages to let me know.

Lawtan 08-02-2014 03:45 PM

Not from myself, though I don't know if anyone is still competing...

Coda 08-02-2014 04:33 PM

Nope, that's a common misconception -- that's the reverse of anthropomorphism. The term for it is "zoomorphism" but it's not used very often. The mistake is so popular that the word in common use essentially means both directions.

(I wonder if "zoomorphism" is used by anthropologists researching things like shamans who would dress up to channel animal spirits.)

When I checked up on Trisphee the other day, the site wasn't working. Had a momentary mini heart attack, but now the site is fine and I can breathe again.

Also, hey guys.

It was down long enough to make me very angry. I am sad to say I used unkind words to the tech support guy I had to talk to...although only briefly and not directly at him, more expressing my opinion of the overall situation.

I'm working on solutions to improve server reliability... The host is proving to be less reliable than I would like.

Also, trade improvements are a glorious thing. :D

Yes, Yes we do Coda….. I recall having to explain the difference on a test once because our professor told us if we got it wrong she would call us by an animal name for the rest of the semester. I had many a class mate that got called a talking Donkey for the rest of the year.
