Kale chuckled, "You escaped right before the storm broke out, hmm?" he mused as he poured himself another bowl of cereal. "And this all has to do with that chip in Laurel's monkey?" he asked before taking a large bite.
"Eh, not all of it," Blaze replied. "But I probably wouldn't be here if it hadn't been discovered."
"Well in that case I'm glad it was discovered." Kale smirked, "You're the only tolerable one around here." Then he paused, "Hey..." he murmured, leaning in closer to her, "I heard you've read Nic's back story. What's up with that kid?"
Blaze suddenly grew very quiet and stopped eating. "... It'd probably be better if I kept my mouth shut on this one," she decided.
"That's alright, Blaze." Kale chuckled, "It'll come out in good time." he shrugged as he grabbed a banana and began peeling. Then he sighed, "It would be good for everyone's moral around here if we could find some clue to the location of Thomas's Lab." he murmured before chomping down on his banana.
Blaze blinked, looking a little confused as Kale at the banana that wasn't covered in sprinkles or chocolate. But she didn't say anything. "Well, I didn't hear about it until you guys mentioned it. It's like searching for Atlantis."
Kale sighed with a nod, "It might very well be under the sea for all we know." he shrugged before looking curiously at Blaze, "You should eat more sugar." he suddenly stated, "It's more effective than caffeine and your body doesn't grow immune to it the more you eat." he pitched as he dumped a pixie stick on his banana, "Plus, the crash after the fact isn't that bad."
"My body is very particular about what I put in it," Blaze explained.
Kale raised an eyebrow, "You one of those sensitive stomach people?" he asked like it was a curse as he shook his head, "I can't imagine."
"Not so much sensitive stomach as sensitive everything else," Blaze tried to explain. "If I don't watch my diet, everything just starts to shut down."
Kale's see-through green eyes watched her closely, "Were you born with such a sensitive body?" he inquired.
Blaze glanced down as she shook her head. "... I was made to be this way," she replied quietly as her middle finger traced the long scar that ran vertically down the front of her body.
"Hmm." Kale mused, watching her finger trace the scar, "What a crude way to do it." and finished off the pixied banana, "You take meds or something?"
"Sort of," Blaze replied quietly after a moment.
"What happens when they run out?" Kale inquired, turning has gaze back to her, "They will eventually right? You being in 'this side' and all."
Blaze looked away. Her cheeks looked a little red as she scratched her head. "Well... then that's that," she replied almost as if she was embarrassed.
Kale looked a little confused but shrugged it off, "Well, if you let us know what you're taking I can get Snow and Zala to take a look at it. Their both really smart and could probably figure out how to replicate it." he offered before eyeing a donut.
Blaze didn't say anything more, going back to picking at her food after awhile.
Kale munched on his donut for awhile before eyeing Blaze's scar. "James would probably fuss and try to get you to have lazar surgery. He doesn't like seeing 'disfigured' girls." he chuckled, "But I think all this lazar surgery stuff is pretty stupid. Scars are awesome." he smirked, "They tell a story and just look cool in my opinion."
Blaze shrugged a little. "It seems to scare off the useless people," she noted.
Kale nodded, "Exactly!" he agreed, "And it's not like you'd like anyone who couldn't see past the scar anyway." he shrugged, "Sometime I just don't understand James." he sighed. Then he paused looking rather deep in thought for once as he stared at the scar on Blaze's face, "Did you get that one at the same time?" he inquired.
Blaze blinked. It looked like she didn't know what he was talking about. But then she touched the scar on her eye and then she suddenly seemed to remember. "Oh, no, not really," Blaze replied. "I got this just before Sheng found me."
Kale nodded, "Interesting." he stated before the lights suddenly went out. Kale continued eating, undaunted in the complete darkness as shouts of confusion drifted down the hallway.
"... This happen often?" Blaze asked, not seeming too worried either.
"What?" he sounded confused. His chair creaked, "Oh, the lights went out?" He stood and weaved through the tables and chairs with ease. "Hmm, it seems a circuit blew." he sighed, "I suppose I should go fix it." Then he walked back and put a hand on Blaze's shoulder, "Let's go."
"You didn't notice the lights went out?" Blaze asked as she stood. "Your eyes are that sensitive-err-insensitive to light?"
Kale took Blaze's arm as he led her out, "Well, I noticed something was different because my headache went away." he replied. There was still shouting and people ran by shining flashlights which made Kale cuss quietly.
"Oh," Blaze said as if something made a little more sense. She didn't require much leading; it seemed like she could see more clearly in the dark than most. "Then how do you perceive objects that are in front of you?"
Kale shrugged, "I don't know. I guess it'd be like wearing night-vision goggles... except I can still see most colors. Except red. For some reason I can't see red in the dark. It comes out looking more like purple." he explained.
"Huh," Blaze mused as she let Kale lead her onward.
Kale sighed a bit, "Though... I really hate light because of it. It's like... looking directly into the sun, all the time. I don't think Thomas thought me through properly. Then again... Pepper and I among the first." he mused.
"Tch, when do scientists think everything through?" Blaze asked.
Kale laughed, "True, but usually scientists aren't playing with human lives." he retorted. "Nah, but it's all good. I think my eyes are pretty fine."
Blaze didn't laugh or say anything else.
Kale let Blaze be as they continued on. "Ah, here we are." he said as he opened a lid and began working on something inside. "Can you keep those damn flashlights away from me?" he asked Blaze after the third one went by.
"Sure," Blaze replied before taking over crowd control.
Soon the lights flickered back on but Kale didn't move. He had his back to Blaze.
So Blaze took a moment to briefly apologize to the people she had terrorized. Then she waited for Kale.
Kale still didn't turn around.
So after awhile, Blaze walked closer, trying to figure out what was wrong.
