((That's okay. Sorry this has taken a while.))
She nodded, "I suppose you are right. I'm sure we can find something nice that isn't to expensive." The Captain smirked and raked her fingers through her hair. It was a bad habit of hers, though not the worst. "I suppose I just like to live it up on the few occasions that we actually get the chance." ------- He winced at the card. It was a two of spades. "Well...hit me again. Maybe it wont to to high." With that he leaned back and looked at the other man. "What I'm curious about may not be any of my business, but I can't help but wonder. Has the Captain ever given you a reason to think that you may have a chance with her? I hadn't seen anything, other then the fact that she hasn't broken your nose over the nickname you gave her." He paused, "At least I haven't seen her break your nose." |
Faith nodded. "True, but I'd rather spend more doing stuff than on the place we'll sleep. We won't remember the beds we were sleeping in so much as the things we do." She stepped away from the cabinets and levered herself up on a medical bed before hopping back down again. "I need to go check on the food. I don't want it to burn." With that, she dashed out of the infirmary and went towards the galley.
"Th' fact she hasn't killed me over continuously teasing her is a pretty good indicator in my book... but despite all that..." Hermes's eyes took on a pained look despite the fact he kept his mouth more or less straight. "This is a small ship, Will. And this is where I want to be. Do I really want to risk a fallout? I'd rather be near her and not in a relationship than far from her." It was the sappy romantic sort of thing you'd get out of a book, but it made sense to Hermes. If he could get his kicks teasing her and flirting with her without actually having her... he could deal. At least, he could for a while. It would be amazing to actually have her, but he was afraid that they might wind up at the other's throat later on. For all of Hermes's bravado, he was honest enough to himself to admit he was scared. He laid another card down on top of the growing pile. |
She considered following Faith briefly before she decided against it. She had a few things to attend to before dinner anyway. Instead she called after the other woman, "Alright, I'll talk to you later then Faith!" With that she turned and made her way back to her own cabin. There were things she needed to get before heading to her office.
---------- He arched an eyebrow at the other man. "I see. So, there's been nothing else though? Not in the way she's looked at you when she thought you were not looking or anything?" He shrugged, "I think you should broach the issue carefully. I think she may be more responsive than you hope." He looked at Hermes cards and then his own. "Ugh, hit me with another card." ((I love your avatar!)) |
((Thank you. And sorry I was so slow to reply.))
Faith found her way into the galley and began to check on the food. Fortunately, it wasn't burned. In fact, it was nearly done. As such, she decided to stay in the galley and clean a bit while waiting for the baked dish to finish up. Absently, she began to hum to herself, content in her current little routine. He slapped down another card. "There ya go," Hermes chuckled, toying with the now-current top card by sliding it about atop the next. "She might be interested," confirmed Hermes, "But I don't wanna be forced t' look for a new home if things take a fallout. Maybe I need to get drunk or somethin'," he mused, continuing to toy with the card. He really wanted to jump Ri's bones. He really did. He wanted to sleep next to her, and hold her, and love her. |
((I am so sorry for how late this reply has been. I just kinda felt bleh for a while. I'm doing better now. Turns out I need to be on depression medication. So, hopefully I'll be posting more. If you feel it's been to long since the last post to pick up, though, then I understand.))
Once she entered her office she grabbed a couple of the data slates that she would need, and some coffee. It had been a long day already, and she was going to need the caffeine to keep her going for a little while longer. Once she had those items she made her way to the office. She knew it wouldn't be long before dinner was ready, so she did not plan on staying for long. She just wanted to drop off the items and check a couple of things before she went back to the mess hall. --- He grunted, "Well, that's got me beat." The card was a 10 of hearts. That put him well over 21." Will nodded in response to his assessment of the captain. "She does have an interesting way of doing things at least. I think if you take it slow and maybe wine and dine her a bit on Mars you will find that she warms up to you." With that he shrugged, "That's just my opinion though. I could be reading her wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. I think she has an interest in you though, and that's why you haven't been put out of an airlock yet." |
