Quiet Man Cometh 12-15-2017 05:31 AM

There's a new event? When did this start? I've been sick for two days!

Yes, my first post is in the art thread. ;)

Arting!

Espy 12-15-2017 05:44 AM

Heyo Quiet, was wondering where you were. Event started on the 13th.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-15-2017 05:45 AM

Ah. Yeah, I did something bad and my neck decided to seize so day in bed with nausea and a migraine and another day getting over it. Wee.

Espy 12-15-2017 05:47 AM

Yikes. Getting better?

And you should check out the event announ and shop. Galla says more items will be added to the shop, I think.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-15-2017 05:50 AM

I'm seeing the plethora of t-shirts that are happening.

And yeah, better now. I have to watch that I don't sit in a tense posture for too long (like when I'm gaming) or my neck muscles can harden up and refuse to let go. It's always the one just by my shoulder and up the back of my skull where it connects to that lovely nerve that runs up the back of your head. My physio doc explained a bunch of this. Pretty interesting actually.

Espy 12-15-2017 05:52 AM

....aaaand wow. Brain isn't processing words anymore. Going to go sleep.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-15-2017 05:53 AM

Yeah, sleep is good. And needed. And required. And I'm rambling. Sleep now.

Mekatra 12-15-2017 08:18 AM

Gotta let the spindle cells in your muscles reset every once in a while too or your muscles will start contracting up into a position they're left in for too long! It's really comon in individuals with limited mobility.

arcius 12-15-2017 02:06 PM

That sounds painful, oh man o-o

Den 12-15-2017 08:14 PM

This time of year, I HAVE to wear scarves when I go out and it's below 45F. My neck WILL spasm otherwise (I have an old whiplash injury from a car accident I was in 12 years ago), and then I will be in severe pain with limited mobility. It's not fun, and I have to go to the chiropractor, when I'm already in pain, and get my back and neck adjusted. It's just easier to wear scarves and keep my hair down.

Espy 12-15-2017 08:50 PM

Yeah, I have cold urticaria, which means my skin is basically allergic to the cold. Sometimes it kicks in, sometimes it doesn't. Never happened before I went to Pittsburgh for college, but once it did start, I could get itchy raised patches on my skin just from working out (and hence being sweaty aka wet) in 50F.

It. Kinda. Really. Blows.

It's even worse for me, considering my usual wardrobe preferences (aka t-shirt in the snow). I've taken to armwarmers and gloves not just as a fashion statement, but also to not have my fingers painfully immobile the second I walk into a warm building on a cold winter day.

Den 12-15-2017 10:18 PM

I very likely have Reynauld's Syndrome. I know for a fact that I have a lower body temperature than average (97.7 on a normal-for-me day), and since 2008, I've been prone to being colder than other people, even on warm days, and can distinctly remember a vacation trip where I was in triple digit weather, and my hands were ice cold.

Espy 12-15-2017 10:37 PM

My mom and roommate are also around 97.7, but my average is around 99.2.

arcius 12-15-2017 10:46 PM

I remember when I was a kid, the temp outside could have been like 20c, and I'd be wearing a sweater and jeans saying it's cold LOL
which is funny, because to an extent, I'm still like that, unless it's 25c, then I start to overheat way too easily. Indoors has to be at a very specific temp or else I'm a ball of ice, tip of nose, hands, and feet all colder than the rest of me.

Mekatra 12-15-2017 10:50 PM

I don't have a condition, I just run hot. While everyone else is putting on jackets I'm sweating. I can warm up our bedroom by a couple degrees just by being in it (small space lol)

Den 12-16-2017 12:20 AM

I overheat easily, too. it sucks. and one of my meds exacerbates it, so I have to really watch my fluid intakes and whatnot.

Mekatra 12-16-2017 12:22 AM

Gotta be careful with dehydration! That can cause a lot of other problems too

Espy 12-16-2017 02:52 AM

Yeah, I have problems with dehydration myself.

Den 12-16-2017 03:20 AM

I have to be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing. I have had panic/anxiety attacks before from getting overheated.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-16-2017 04:51 AM

I'm not too bothered with cold but I am bothered with heat. I assume part of that is genetics (British/Nordic + living in Canada) but also I'm a little person so my body temperature tends to shift rather quickly. It's easy enough to re-warm but annoyingly difficult to cool down. I used to walk to work at a coffee shop in -20 weather wearing long underwear, and within five minutes of getting there I'd have to change out of them or run into the freezer from time to time from overheating.

I get dizzy, headachy, and flat out non-functional. I avoid driving if it's hot since I got heat sick in my car and was down for a day and a half recovering.

It doesn't help that I detest shorts and the like.

But art thread! I actually finished a painting today, or as much as I'm going to do with actual paint. I probably should have been finished a few layers ago but I've been annoyed with it not being *quite* right and have been tweaking since. I think I'll make any additional adjustments I feel compelled to make with ink or pencil.

Espy 12-17-2017 02:20 AM

Oh man, I haven't painted in ages.

Panda 12-17-2017 07:11 AM

Aww, Espy is too cute XD

collab paint w me. jk

yeah, i'm down to trade! the 10 minute again one or...?

Quiet Man Cometh 12-17-2017 06:57 PM

Painting is my go-to now. I look at my sketch book but I rarely do much with pencil or pen. My acrylic paints dollar store variety so I can spam stuff without too much worry about wasting.

I find I'm less particular than I used to be. I'm more likely to just buy the closest colour to what I want rather than mix paints, unless it's something I can do with minimal effort.

Except for purple. I cannot, for the life of me, mix a good purple.

I should get my tablet out again and try some more scribbles.

Aiight, I'm fine with anything tbh. My finals are over, so I got more time to do more quality pieces, but I can also do fun, easy breezy stuff!

My references:

Den 12-17-2017 11:15 PM

Good luck with finals, Espy!

Boris 12-18-2017 01:19 AM

I'll do something tomorrow.

I....uh. Am not currently at college.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-18-2017 06:44 AM

I require that festive sand piper!

Reading old stories to my nephews today. It was great! He (the one actually interested in story time) only expected me to say the gingerbread man line and then turn the page. Lots of fun with the Shrek references, too. An entire book of stories in twenty minutes!

One of these days I'll really get inspired and have energy to do a decent art of someone...

bluebird 12-18-2017 10:34 PM

Angry cactus is adorable! XD

Quiet Man Cometh 12-19-2017 12:55 AM

Eeeeeee. I'm so cute! Thanks MDOM!

And really, bluebird, where did you get that bird?

bluebird 12-19-2017 01:05 AM

What's the word? XD
Bird is from Albert F-15; graciously gifted by SparX.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-19-2017 01:10 AM

OMG that's a feather! I thought it was a Santa hat.

I didn't know that item existed.

Mekatra 12-19-2017 01:55 AM

:O That's cute
