"Yes you can. And they do have a system of categorzing the books. They have them seperated from their genres and they also use a syatem. I think it's called the dewey decimal system. It codes the book numerically I believe. In any case I heard there is an old crystal gem monumen around here. It is like the temple of beach city but it's more outside of town we can check that out when we're done here."
The blue silver gem finished up with the slime against the wall. Looks like there is a little bit of damage from the acid eating the paint. Nothing too serious. She then got the floors where she slayed the creature and got the ceilings where the humans hung from. |
With the slime all squeegied up and ready to dump, Jade upended the dust pan over the waste bin, squeezing her eyes closed in disgust as the stuff oozed out slowly. Once the last of it was out, she closed up the bag, pulled it out, then put that bag in another bag and sealed it as well.
"That ought to do it," she said hopefully, ready to deposit the doubled bag in the dumpster bin out in the back of the building. "Monument, huh? Well, grandiose works for some, I guess I can live with it." |
Grabbing the buckets, Agate dumps the left over congealed water mix down a grate and into the sewers, not wanting to clog the pipes in the building with the slime.
"As long as I can have my own room I really don't care what the place looks like. It all links to the temple anyways, we just have to be careful not to free any of the bubbled crystals that Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst captured." |
Moonstone nodded.
"Yes of course, we all would like our own spaces. We have to see the state of the monument first. And of course we should drop this Gem in the actual temple to keep everything consistant." |
"So we go through the portal at the beach house first, to deposit this gem, then go looking for this other monument place," Jade asked as she swabbed out the inside of the dust bin out with a soapy sponge. The sponge could be disposed of or destroyed with impunity, she thought, but the larger piece of equipment should definitely be returned in serviceable condition.
|
Seeing what Jade was doing to the dustpan, she in turn begins doing the same thing to the bucket and the map since both still had traces of the goop in them.
"I would thing that the portal would be able to take us to the Monument as well and once we got there we could figure out where in relation it is to Beach City. Unless you think the portal there might not be working anymore?" |
"Well a lot of the rememnants of our race seems to be in a less than stellar condition. I wouldn't even know if the portal from the temple to the monument will work until we've seen what the portal in the monument looks like. We might want to walk to the monument after we check in this gem and look it over to ensure portal traveling is safe."
Moonstone finished the ceiling and dumped the slime out of the bucket once she was finished. "Alright I think we've got the slime off and this should be safer for the owner of this facility to enter and rework this place. Let's head off to the temple now." |
With a satisfied nod, Jade carted all the equipment back to the store room where she found it, then rejoined her teammates.
"Glad I have my boots, I'd hate to get sand in my shoes," she remarked as she peered toward the beach and the path the the Crystal Gems Prime beach house. The figures in the mountain behind the building stirred a feeling of pride in her heart. Maybe someday she'd be worthy of having her own image emerge from the living stone. |
"What do your boots have to do with it when you can just change your form to have boots?" Agate was honestly confused by this statement, changing her form when need be, including her clothing. Following Moonstone out, she tried to figure out what Jade meant with the boots statement.
"I hope the monument is not going to be cramped, I like having plenty of space to move around in, and for practicing my aim as well. Always good to keep in pristine shape after all." |
"It probably has more space on the inside then it appears on the outside."
Moonstone led the way to the temple at the beach. |
Maybe being green and standing out from the humans more had something to do with Jade spending so much time in the library trying to assimilate all she could of human culture. She began a hopping, skipping dance along the beach, chanting, "Bigger on the inside, smaller on the outside! Bigger on the inside, smaller on the outside! OOH! Can we paint it bright blue? Maybe just the door? Bright cobalt blue! And a sign that says, 'POLICE', and a blue flashing light, and a doorbell that goes 'wheeze, wheeze, wheeze' when you push the button and-"
Stopping suddenly, she looked at the faces of her teammates and blushed vivid green. |
Raising a brow, Agate has no idea what Jade is going one about.
"Did you read that somewhere or something? I know what police are, but the rest of that I have no idea what any of it is. I think you'll have to teach me some things about humans since me wondering around doesn't appear to have helped much." Affectionately she rubs Jade's head, giving her a small smile. |
"Alright Gems we're here at the temple. I'll drop these off where they need to be.You go find the portal and set it to the monument. "
|
Grinning sheepishly, Jade nodded her agreement to Moonstone's directions.
"Okay! To the portal! And then, to the monument!" Snapping off a cheeky salute, she turned and gave a 'follow me' nod to Agate, then set off to the portal, which practically sang its location to the gem in her belly button. |
Smiling, Agate follows Jade, finding some of the things she picked up from humans interesting. She could sense the portal with her gems like Jade, but her ability for doing so was probably not as strong as Jade's because her's was more focused on communication.
"I wonder what the monument is like, or at least now I should say because I have no clue how much time has passed since I became a monster and then restored to my true form." |
"Oh, I dunno, I mean, maybe it hasn't changed much at all, hopefully. I don't think the humans would mess with it, they didn't do much to this place really. Just put things up around it is all,"Jade theorized, trying to be positive about the passage of time and the mysteries time might have wrought.
|
Moonstoned placed the gem in the proper place and made her way to the others. Hopefully by the time she found them they set the portal.
|
"Aha, here it is!' Jade announced, stopping before an archway where a solid seeming slab of stone stood encased within. "Okay, let's see here. I touch here, and you touch there," she recited as she pointed to the arch on the side opposite the one she had chosen to take her stance. "And then we visualize the monument and see the inside on the other side of this archway with our minds."
Jade closed her eyes, and the green gem in her belly button began to emit light. With the image she intended held firm in her mind, her eyes opened, lit with the same green light that glowed from her waist. |
Nodding her head she does as Jade directs her, touching the locations indicated. Concentrating on the monument, her body pales, becoming a ghostly white color while her eyes glow a soft blue color, the same color as the gems that are also glowing on the back of her hands. The power hummed through her body, feeling her with a warm sensation she hadn't felt for a long time.
|
Jade let her green energy light bathe across her half of the portal archway, seeking to meet with Agate's energy in the center, where the seam for the doorway would at last open on the space they sought to reach.
A smile spread across her face at the feeling of -right- this gave her. |
((Sorry for my lateness))
Moonstone finally tracked them to the room which contained the portal. She nodded with approval. "I see you found the portal, is it set up already? I placed the gem in its proper place." |
"I'm sensing the portal is there, but I'm not sure if I can activate it. To me it feels like something might be blocking it, but Jade would probably be better at this than me. She's been restored longer than me." Her energy twirls around with Jade's energy and creating an aqua colored glow.
|
With the combination of both their energies, Jade felt the portal begin to quiver with magic.
"Here she comes!" she shouted a moment before their aquamarine light became shot through with rays of pale pink. Following that, the swirl of an active portal hung within the frame of stone, waiting for them to step through it. |
"Good work Jade, alright let's go through it together and get a good look at this monument."
|
Nodding her head, Agate removes her hands from the portal and gets on it, smiling at Jade who helped her to open it. "I'm excited to see what the monument looks like, since its been a long time since I've visited it."
|
Jade could only nod her agreement, stepping up into the portal-way herself, already seeing past into the room they would be claiming for their home.
Rather more austere than the beach house by necessity, the inside of this monument seemed industrial in design. Jade was already thinking of ways to give it a 'homey' air before even setting foot across the threshold. There were definitely a number of doors ringing the large main room, far more than three, which made sense, since there were many other gems that could yet be reclaimed and come to join them here. The friendly wooden interior of the beach house would contrast starkly with the brick walls and dark marble floors within the monument building. Jade could almost hear already the clicking her bootheels would make, echoey in the undecorated room. |
Moonstone joined them and soon they were transported from the nice lively warm beach house. To a old cold monument. Looks like it used to be a hub area where Gems would stay to recooperate. It was nice a spacious but it hadn't been tended to in so long. It looked like it was falling apart.
"Wow, it's in even worse shape then I initially thought." |
Once Moonstone got on the portal and they were ready, they were transported to the monument, which once they got there Agate knew why it was that she couldn't activate the portal. Near the teleporter there was some ruble laying about. Sighing, she looks up at the ceiling to see the damage. Luckily it was only that portion that fell down, easy enough to fix. Using her magic she levitates the ruble back up to the ceiling and binds it back together with the ceiling.
"Well hopefully that won't come back down again for a while." |
"Gonna be pretty in here once we get it cleaned up and all," Jade said hopefully as she got busy shoving detritus into a manageable pile. "But at least there's nothing to fight in here over ownership. I mean, nothing magical, I figure there's probably critters in here like raccoons in nice little hidey holes. Not that we'd have to kick them out, really, just, divvy up the space. You furry guys on your side of the monument, us Gems on ours?"
|
"I don't know if raccoons would live in a cave of this magnitude, I'd think more of something like a bear, wolf or lion, maybe even wild cats and bobcats." Going around to the different areas she tiles larger pieces of debris from Jade's pile and begins restoring what she can of the walls and ceiling. "Either way though, they shouldn't be too much of a problem. If need be we could just set spells to ward them off."
|
Moonstone looked around the area. It was indeed in worse shape then she could imagine...however it seemed some of parts of the monument were still working.
"Hmm looks like some of the magical aspects of the monument are still in tact. Seems the camoflauge and the shields are still up. I doubt there are any animals in here we have to take care of. Although..." There was a slight rumbling that rang through out the monument. "It seems there might be a remenent of the what this once was in the deep end of the cave. We ought to check it out, I hope it isn't another monster." |
Agate turns her head towards the sound of the rumbling, sighing as she finishes replacing the ruble she was levitating. Her gems glow as she summons forth her bow and notches an arrow to the string.
"I'm hoping its something friendly over another monster to have to deal with..." |
"Sounds more like a cave-in, to me," Jade responded, casting a dubious gaze around the rubble-filled chamber into which thy had entered the monument in the first place. Kneeling down, she placed a hand on the floor and murmured, "Remember." The remaining debris all flew into their original places in the walls and ceiling, fusing into place as though they'd never been parted.
|
"Well hopefully it is, that would be much easier to deal with right now."
Moonstone said as she started to make her way into the area where the rumbling came from. As they entered the gems could feel this reverberation going on. "I hope I am not the only one that feels that." |
"No, you're not, I feel it too but I have no idea what it is or what's causing it. If a monster somehow got in here I'm going to be pretty mad, the spell seem intact so that means a gem would have had to become a monster after coming to the monument." Agate's back stiffens at the thought, which meant even this place wouldn't be safe.
|
"Pfft, chickens," Jade teased, then moved forward several steps and shouted out, "HEY! ANYBODY THERE? COME ON OUT AND PLAY WHY DONCHA!" loudly enough to enact a counter reverberation which should either cancel out the effect of the reverberation already happening, or quantify it enough to speed another collapse of structure around them.
|
Moonstone waited for a reaction.
"No reaction, I suppose it isn't a monster then. It's safe to check it out then." Moonstone entered the area and noticed a large contraption at the center of this room they entered in. She walked around it and glanced it over a few times. She'd never seen anything like this before. "Well, this is a rather interesting piece of gem architect. Although I am not quite sure what it is." |
Agate tries not to laugh at the simple way Jade handled it, finding her defensiveness silly after what Jade had done. Unsummoning her bow, Agate follows Moonstone, also confused by the contraption.
"I wonder who made it and what purpose it serves." Walking silently she approaches the devices to have a better look at it. |
Jade prowled around the circumference of the machine. There was something vaguely familiar, somehow, about this thing.
"That tubey thing, going up into the ceiling, is that giving off heat, do you think," she asked her compatriots. |
((Sorry for lateness been a bit busy))
"Why don't we find out?" Moonstone said looking up at the strange machinery. |
