Gaia was a wonderful place back then - if you wanted to do more and could prove you were ready, they always had something for you. I learned a lot during my years there, and the staff really was a family. I miss a lot of them. *nods*

I was a helper for half a year in 2005. Then in December 2005 I became a moderator. I was stoked because Gaia at that time was so exciting! What a great place to be able to help out and also be a user. I really liked it. Nowadays, it is confusing there for a lot of people I think because of not getting the financial mindset and not trusting the people in charge.

I knew your name looked familiar! I do remember you, although I don't think we ever really crossed paths. By the time you were a forum mod I was moved to the bottomless pit that is A/H reports. xD

I gave away all my items on Gaia when Trisphee went into open beta. I decided that I never wanted to go back to Gaia, so I gave everything away to my friends and my favorite charity.

Well, yeah! That's the plan for Trisphee, and hopefully within the next year we can make that more of a reality. If we even got one eighth as big as Gaia, I would be ecstatic.

pfft apparently I haven't logged into my first account since 10/12/11. Since it's been more than 24months they locked the account and I have to jump through hoops to open it up again. I'm not willing to despite the items on there. But man do I wish youtube did this. I was a member of youtube in 2005 and I have no proof cause they deleted it. -lesigh-

I can still log onto my Vanishing Illusionist account though. I remember when monthlies were 20k and I'd play games and chat like crazy to get them. When the cash shop open I did shell out money to get Faust's Bottle. But then suddenly it dropped in price like a rock. I could've then bought it with my gold. I was so upset.

I used to donate $10 a month - one of each item for me and two letters to save. I know one of my bank mules has rows full of unopened letters, but probably only the unpopular ones. xD

I actually only ever posted in the Gaia forums twice. I didn't really get the point of /forums/ back then, and both times, I accidentally posted in the wrong place. Funny thing is, I didn't go back to Gaia for so long, that it was /years/ before I saw the rude and abrasive comments on my threads.

....and by then, I'd already gotten a decently-tough internet-skin.

Oh speaking of internet-tough skin I remember some art I did for a shop got bashed so bad I was literally crying.

So I decided to browse Gaia's Forums and Market today (didn't log into my account though)
I see nothing but Gaian's bringing up doom threads, everyone knows there is a problem and.. When I look into the marketplace I almost had a heart attack.
Simply sad.

Me too, I had like autocash for $10 but that stopped a long time ago. A year ago or more I liquidated most of my letters and started using gold for everything I wanted. I still have letters to sell and my mule sells them and they are profitable so I suggest you do it. Even the ones you think have no value have some value. May as well get rid of them and have the gold to spend.

Well, I will definitely consider it if I ever go back. Right now gold would do me as much good as the letters sitting in my inventory. I will hope there is a day I want to go back. *nods*

So. Did you guys hear what they're doing now? They're PMing Cash offers to people.

No shit. They are spamming up inboxes (I already got two PMs) with Cash offers, or some subscriptions of some sort (Oink).

Worst part of it? At every complaint thread, there will be some stooge - some kiss-ass that will be all like "But Oink is a great deal! I subscribed to it! Brought to you by OmniDrink." They're actually creating alts to plug and defend their own crap. In the feedback forums.

That was the last straw for me, hence why I'm here.

I logged into Gaia the other day and saw that. It's not surprising in the least, but I had a hope that maybe our inboxes would be the last safe place from offers like those. It makes me really sad.

It's also technically against their own rules since a subscription offer is essentially asking for card information.

I joined Gaia for a couple of guilds and zOMG!. I never actually went to the main forums except for the zOMG! board -- to this day I don't even know what forums even exist.

I WANT Trisphee to get a multiplayer game like zOMG! but doing that without making the server cry is a lot of work that I don't have time for, and we've got more important things to do first.

I'm all for shiny new features, but for all the fanfare ZOMG got, it sure went to the scrap heap fast. If we do something like that, I hope we take better care of it.

Honestly, you guys really shouldn't take on such a pain. It took even Gaia half a decade to finally bring it out after, well...half a decade of hype and rumors.

If you want some sort of game development, think simpler and smaller. Something...I dunno, turn based?

The reason tons of people are disappointed is because they saw the potential Gaia had back in the day. To see where it has settled now... If someone told me Gaia would be this bad back in '04, I would never have believed them.

What's really funny is, back in the day, Gaia toyed around with the idea that their company changed for the worst for an April Fool's gag.

I used to frequent Gaia back in '05 maybe till about '09. I quit it and then went back when I heard Gaia was changing for the worse because I wanted to check it out myself.
Needless to say, I can never see myself getting back into that site. The inflation is ridiculous and I feel bad for any new user joining the site now.
It used to be a great place years back, now I just don't care for it at all and I really don't care what happens to it. Unless they drastically change things, which I doubt they will, there is no lasting appeal to the site.

I wasn't there for that one.. but to me by that time they were all ready taking a down turn. I went to a Harry Potter only RPG site from 09 to 11 when I joined Trisphee.
