Fin didn't say a word, glancing at Frei.
Frei glanced at Fin, "She's the bird," she explained.
Laurel blinked, "Bird?" she chuckled, "I'm Laurel, it's nice to meet a friend of Frei's," she told Fin. |
Fin blinked at Laurel, looking a little confused. But he got over it after a minute. "... I'm... Fin," he told Laurel.
Laurel walked over and held out her hand, "Nice to meet you, Fin," she greeted him.
Fin paused before shaking Laurel's hand.
Laurel pulled Fin into a happy hug, "I'm glad Frei has someone near her age around here!" she declared with a grin.
Fin stiffened a little, but hugged Laurel lightly back.
"So..." Laurel chuckled as she pulled away, "I have to ask... why are you in Nic's room?"
"... It was her idea," Fin replied as he glanced at Frei.
Frei looked innocent.
Laurel rolled his eyes at Frei, "Nic wouldn't like you digging through his things," she warned him, "... Is that his jacket?" she couldn't help but crack a smile at that. |
Fin glanced down at the jacket. "... Probably," he muttered as he started to take it off.
"It looks good on you too," she complimented, "Here, try this one on!" she suddenly ordered with a silly grin, holding out a different style. One she'd recently bought Nic.
"Uh..." Fin muttered. He paused before taking it and trying it on.
Laurel clapped a little, "That looks good too! This one!" and held out another one.
Fin blinked, wondering how his half-brother kept up with Laurel as he put on the next jacket.
Laurel's grin grew as she clasped her hands together, "That one's perfect!" she decided, "You keep it."
"K-Keep it?" Fin asked. "... I just got plenty of clothes."
"Nic's doesn't need all these jackets," Laurel confided, "He mostly just wears the same one anyway. It looks really good on you." She leaned in a little, "I think Frei likes it too," she whispered, pleased.
Frei looked a bit bored at the whole thing. |
Fin blushed a little and tried to hide it.
Laurel giggled a little, "You actually... look kinda similar to..." her voice trailed off, "Hold still for a moment," she said as she ran around the room. She found the fake Nic scarf she'd gotten and wrapped it around his neck before messing with his hair until it looked more like Nic's style. Then she fiddled with the clothes a bit before handing him Nic's mug. She took a few steps back. "Huh..." she mused, "That's a little freaky, you have the same eyes."
Fin glanced at Frei, trying to look for a hint as to what he should do. Laurel clearly didn't know yet.
There was a slight smirk on Frei's face. She seemed to be enjoying this a little. Perhaps... she wasn't totally a 'bunny.'
Laurel frowned, "... Where did you say you came from?" she asked. Those eyes were the same... |
Fin blinked, not sure what to say. Then when he finally had thought of something and opened his mouth, Nic walked into the room. But it looked like had a very specific purpose in mind as he ignored everyone else as he grabbed his laptop and started to walk out again.
Laurel grabbed his arm lightly, "Hey Nic! Wait a sec," she asked.
"I'm very busy," Nic replied as he kept walking. "I'll be back in ten minutes."
Laurel blinked but let him go without another word. Then she sighed and turned back to Frei and Fin. She paused, "Oh, sorry, were you saying something?" she asked Fin.
Fin was blinking at the door. Apparently Nic wasn't who he had expected.
Laurel followed Fin's eyes and then shrugged, "He often has a lot of very important work he has to get done," she explained, "Sometimes he has to just focus solely on that but don't worry," she smiled, "I'm sure he'll come to meet you when he's done."
Fin didn't say anything as he itched his neck a little, looking uncomfortable in the clothes Laurel had put him in.
Laurel watched Fin for a moment before nodding, "You can take it off now, sorry if that seemed strange..." she apologized quietly, "You and Frei should probably leave before he gets back."
Frei nodded and went over to Fin, reaching for the mug. |
Fin let Frei take the mug as he started to take off the scarf and jacket.
Laurel still seemed a little lost in her own thoughts. Frei took the jacket and scarf from him and laid them on the bed.
When Fin was done, he slowly started to leave, trying not to look Laurel in the eye again.
Laurel turned, "See you around, Fin," she smiled. Frei grabbed Fin's hand again as she led him out.
"... See you," Fin replied as he let Frei lead him out.
So Frei walked him back to the Juttle, "He's... researching you," Frei stated.
-- Laurel sat down on the bed and waited for Nic. |
"... Who?" Fin asked.
-- About ten minutes later, Nic returned like he had promised. |
"Cat," Frei replied.
-- Laurel glanced up at him, wondering what had suddenly gotten into him. |
Fin didn't say anything else as he let her lead him along. Anyone else, he wouldn't like it. But holding Frei's hand wasn't so bad.
-- Nic was finishing up something on his laptop as he walked in, closing it before turning to Laurel, waiting for her to talk. |
Frei led him back to the Juttle before shutting the door and letting go of his hand. She looked at him for a long moment, "Fun?" she inquired.
-- Laurel didn't say anything as she continued to watch him. |
