Nic let her walk out on her own, standing and following her out the door.
Laurel slowly headed toward the kitchen.
Nic supervised her for awhile to make sure she'd make it on her own. When he was satisfied, he started back toward his room.
He was intercepted by Wolfe. Apparently he had been waiting.
Nic stopped walking and waited for Wolfe to speak his mind.
"Kale brought back a boy who'd seen him and compromised his mission..." Wolfe started before pausing. He pursed his lips, "He just so happens to be your half brother."
Nic blinked blankly before continuing toward his room. It didn't look like he believed Wolfe in the least.
Wolfe cut him off, "I don't make mistakes with blood, Dominic," he stated, "I cross checked his DNA three times. You have a half brother named Seraphim Bell."
"I'm busy," Nic told Wolfe, getting a little annoyed. He probably wouldn't believe him unless he saw the DNA results himself.
Wolfe seemed to have thought of that as he pulled his tablet from his pocket and flipped it open before handing it over to Nic. On it was a detailed DNA report of Fin and Nic.
Nic sighed a little as he scanned the report. "... And how do I know Missy or Zala didn't help you create this... Seraphim?" He sounded skeptical, but his eyes stayed glued to the report, finding something about it fascinating.
Wolfe was silent for a long moment, "Do you honestly believe I would waste that much time?" he questioned, sounding irked at the insinuation.
"If someone else wasted the time making the report," Nic reasoned, eyes still on the report.
"Do you want to see him?" he asked, ignoring Nic's comment.
Nic shook his head then paused as he looked up. "... How was he found?" he asked.
"Kale," Wolfe replied simply, "Seraphim compromised Kale's position and had to be brought here."
Nic let out a deep sigh. "... What bad luck," he noted. But it didn't seem like he was talking about the kid's bad luck.
Wolfe nodded, agreeing, "Seems to run in your family," he noted.
Nic sighed again, though he looked like he doubted luck was a genetic trait.
Wolfe held out his hand for the tablet.
Nic looked it over a moment longer before handing it back to Wolfe. "I need a copy of his DNA," he told Wolfe.
Wolfe snorted slightly, already ahead of him as he took a piece of plastic from his pocket and handed it over. Pressed in between two sides of the plastic was a single hair.
Nic raised an eyebrow. He had been expecting a digital copy. But he took the hair and put it in his pocket.
"I wouldn't fabricate a hair, would I?" Wolfe explained blankly before turning to leave.
Nic raised an eyebrow. He certainly had the means if he really wanted to. But he didn't stop Wolfe as he continued for his room.
Wolfe went to the Juttle, meeting up with Raven along the way, "Nic's deciding whether or not he believes me," he told him, "For now, he doesn't want to see Fin."
Raven frowned a little, not expecting that. "... We can't keep Fin in that Juttle forever," he noted.
"Until Nic makes up his mind, I won't allow Fin to wander around the resort," Wolfe stated firmly.
Raven sighed, but nodded a bit.
They reached the Juttle and Wolfe unlocked the door, stepping inside.
Fin didn't notice them right away. It looked like he was napping in one of the eggs. He had explored a bit and made himself something to eat, but it looked like he had cleaned up after himself.
Raven could tell that Wolfe was pleased that Fin hadn't made a mess in his Juttle.
Raven was a little glad for that too, for the boy's sake. He glanced at Wolfe before going to wake Fin up gently.
Wolfe stood back, arms crossed.
Raven shook Fin's shoulder gently and the boy woke up calmly with a yawn. He tensed up as he saw Wolfe though. He was still in the same clothes from the previous day.
Wolfe seemed to think about something for a moment before dismissing the thought, "Your half brother does not wish to see you," he stated, "therefore, you are to remain in this Juttle until further notice. You'll be supplied with food, new clothing and entertainments you desire within reason. If, and only if, your half brother decides to meet you, you'll be allowed back out into the rest of the resort."
Fin blinked blankly, mind taking awhile to process Wolfe's words. After a few moments he straightened the hat on his head. "... Is... there any work I can get paid for?" he asked Wolfe, still a little groggy. "Like washing dishes or something?"
"... You don't need money here," Wolfe reminded him simply.
Fin blinked, confused. "... For later?" he asked, starting to sound worried. He would leave at some point, right?
Wolfe gave it some thought, "I'll give it some thought," he promised before turning to leave again.
