Nic didn't try to argue with Laurel as he finished starting the fire. Then when he was done with that, he tried to make Laurel drink some more water.
|
Laurel refused to drink the water, still crying quietly.
|
Nic kept trying, hoping the warmth from the fire would improve her mood enough to drink some more water before she passed out.
|
The fire did seem to help. She slowly stopped crying but still refused the water. "Tell me you love me," she whispered., face still hidden.
|
"... I love you," Nic told her before trying the water again.
|
This time she took it, staring at it for a long moment before take a long swig. Too long in fact, she choked a bit.
|
Nic patted Laurel on the back and grabbed another water in case she wanted it too.
|
Laurel did, seeming to finally realize her thirst. When she as done she reached out towards Nic again.
|
Nic let her quietly.
|
So Laurel adjusted herself, ending up curled in Nic's lap with her head against his chest. It wasn't long before she was completely knocked out.
|
Nic sighed a little, adjusting them slowly until they were both comfortable for the night.
|
Laurel didn't wake for a long time.
|
So Nic sat and watched the stars for awhile as he sorted some thoughts in his head before falling asleep.
|
In the morning hours a roar of a boat approached the island. Laurel was still knocked out completely.
-- Kale walked silently in the front, eyes flashing from side it side. It wasn't much farther to his hidden boat. He didn't even bother to look over his shoulder at the boy, knowing his threat and presence alone about keep him in line. |
Nic slowly woke up, looking to see who it was.
-- Blaze sighed silently as the teenage boy tripped again. He hadn't said a word since Kale had put the fear of god in him. He clung to his backpack tightly, glancing around, looking for some way to escape. But Blaze pushing him gently forward which kept him in line for another few minutes. Blaze felt a little sorry for the kid, but she didn't let it show. |
"They're over there," he pointed to Raven, "Nic made a fire, I told you they wouldn't be cold."
-- Once Kale reached the boat he turned and motioned to boy to get on first |
Raven nodded as he squinted at them in the distance.
As Nic recognized the boat, he didn't bother to wake Laurel up. -- The boy hesitated, trying to glance around discretely one more time to find a way out. But Blaze nudged him on board. He started to look a little nauseous before the boat even got started. |
Wolfe pulled the boat close and then looked at Raven. There was no way he was jumping into the water to tie her up.
-- Once they were settled in the boat, Kale looked at the boy and sighed. He dug threw his bag before tossing some medication for motion sickness at the boy. |
Raven nodded before taking off his shoes and shirt before jumping in the water to tie up the boat.
-- The boy tried to catch it, but dropped the medication. He scrambled a little to pick it up again, but didn't take any as he looked at it in his shaking hands. Blaze let the boy be as she got the boat ready to leave. |
"Don't you think if I was going to kill you,I'd have for it already?" Kale asked in a bored voice, "Take the pill."
-- Wolfe waited, eyes on Nic. |
The boy flinched a little and tried to open the bottle. But the boy's hands kept shaking, and he couldn't open it.
-- So Raven tied up the boat and went to talk with Nic. They talked for awhile. It didn't look like Nic wanted to move Laurel. |
Kale watched the boy for a moment and then held out his hand for the bottle.
-- Wolfe muttered something under his breath as he grabbed the rope and began to pull the boat closer to shore. |
The boy swallowed a little, hesitating for a moment before handing him the bottle.
|
Kale opened the cap easily, dumping a pill in his hand before holding it out the boy.
-- Once Wolfe was close enough he jumped out and walked over to the group. |
The boy still clearly didn't trust Kale as he shrank back a little more.
-- Raven glanced over at Wolfe as he came over. Nic still hadn't moved. |
Kale paused before popping the pill in his mouth and swallowing. He then took out another pill and held it out to the boy. He didn't suddenly keel over and die.
-- Wolfe looked at Laurel and then up at Nic's face. Nic could tell he seemed somewhat pleased. |
The boy seemed a little surprised at the gesture. After another moment he slowly reached out a shaky hand and grabbed the pill after a few attempts. He looked at it for another moment before putting it in his mouth and swallowing it dry.
-- Nic looked the same as always. Except a little more tan. |
The pill worked instantly, all his seasickness gone. Kale then ignored the boy and went over to Blaze, looking to see if the boat was ready to leave.
|
Despite the sea sickness being gone, the boy still looked a little pale as he pulled his knees into his chest quietly. And Blaze had the boat ready to leave.
|
Kale motioned her to take them out and then returned to the boy, "Your name?" he asked as he put an ear piece in his ear.
-- "She won't wake," Wolfe decided as he watched Laurel. |
So Blaze took them out, making sure they weren't being followed.
The boy swallowed a little, not saying anything. -- Nic didn't say or do anything since that wasn't an order. And he still wasn't on the best terms with Wolfe or Raven. |
"You don't have one?" Kale clarified, seemingly serious.
-- Wolfe paused, reading Nic's mood. "We'll stay on the boat until she wakes," he suddenly decided before turning back to the beat. |
The boy blinked, looking a little confused. Which gave away that he did in fact have a name.
-- Raven blinked, glancing at Nic before following after Wolfe. |
Kale watched the boy for a moment, "I'm Kale. I don't have anything again you... you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Tough luck, kid," he sighed before pulling out a tablet.
|
The boy continued his silence, still looking afraid.
|
"If you don't tell me your name, I'll make up one. No one likes my made up names," he cautioned.
-- Once they were back on the boat Wolfe sat down, "I told him about the bet," he explained to Raven. |
After another moment of debating, the boy swallowed again before replying quietly, "Sometimes people call me Fin."
-- Raven took a deep breath and sighed a little before nodding. He seemed a little surprised his head was still attached to his body. |
Kale nodded and typed something up. Then he held up a sort of scanner and quickly scanned up and down Fin's body before taking some more notes.
-- Wolfe looked over at the beach again. Laurel was still very asleep. But now she was muttering quietly, it didn't seem like a pleasant sleep. |
Fin tried to scoot away a little more, but he was already as far away as he was going to get.
-- Nic let Laurel be for the most part. |
"Don't fall off," Kale replied before scanning Fin with a different scanner. After that he seemed satisfied and joined Blaze at the helm.
-- Finally Laurel seemed to be drifting into a lighter sleep, moving around on Nic's lap before finally opening her eyes slightly with a yawn. |
