It's not so much the believing in me that's the issue so much as trying to draw something and getting disgusted with my lack of natural talent and learned skill and throwing the pen/pencil down and not attempting art again for the next approx 3-5 years. Repeat.

SparX 04-12-2017 10:58 PM

maybe your trying for a style or medium that isn't actually fit to your taste?
I'm trying to think abstract here =x

Kaderin Triste 04-12-2017 11:09 PM

Well, I've tried paint, pencil, pen, and digital. I've tried avatar art, animals, people, plants, etc.
About the only thing left to try would be clay.
And unfortunately, sculptures of my OCs would take up far too much room.

I partly blame my parents. Because my older sister was very competitive, to keep the household peace, anything she was good at, I was discouraged from doing. So she got to learn to play piano and sing and all her art in school was praised. And I learned clarinet and was miserable because my art and other things never measured up.

Glitch Thanks <3
Yours looks super snuggly wuggly. :3

Kaderin I can relate to this so hard.
I have an older sister who draws, but mostly just horses. Since she started drawing, I've been interested in it, too. Sadly, my lack of natural talent is apparent and I have like little to no motivation most of the time to draw anything. That's partly the reason as to why I want to use my Club Thread to kind of force myself to draw something. I could never do it as a job, though, cause I would totally die if I had to draw things for someone by a certain due date.

Kaderin Triste 04-12-2017 11:37 PM

Hey at least you are trying, which is good!
I have moved on to other hobbies and do crafts instead of arts.

Pessimisticat 04-13-2017 12:13 AM

Kaderin Trying but not really succeeding. xD
My style is developing veryyyyyyy slowly. I just can't will myself to draw everyday.

What kinds of crafts do you do?
I've been wanting to get into things like sewing and knitting, and eventually move onto cosplay and armor/weapon making.

Kaderin Triste 04-13-2017 12:25 AM

I do loom knitting, chainmaille (mainly just jewelry, but I really want to learn actual clothes shaping for other stuf), and plan on learning scalemaille. I can do knitted scalemaille with my loom knitting, but would like to do regular for other stuff. I used to embroider some but, of course, my sister started doing it and I lost interest.

Oh and once I can afford a sewing machine, I want to learn to sew also.

Pessimisticat 04-13-2017 03:57 AM

Kaderin OOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo.
I am jelly.
I'm hoping once I move I'll be able to get started on my hobbies.

You shouldn't let ur butthole of a sister ruin things for you. I would know, I have 4 sisters (technically 5 now since my mom got remarried). Its always been competitive and still is, but I try not to let that get to me and ruin things I enjoy doing.

Kaderin Triste 04-13-2017 04:14 AM

Well, to be completely honest, embroidery, while good to know, kind of isn't my thing. The important things that I like are actually the things that she doesn't like, so she can't ruin them anyway.
But I mean...grow up in a family where if she likes something then it's amazing and she's great at it but when I like the same thing it's largely ignored/unimportant and I'm constantly compared (negatively) to her and have that continue through into adulthood too and it really screws up your brain. It is exceedingly difficult to keep myself from instantly "getting bored with"/quit doing crafts, hobbies, etc that she picks up.
So I do things that she thinks are "weird" or just don't interest her. But I really enjoy them a lot so it works out.

Also...sorry. I'm probably coming off as pretty whiny. XP
I'm kind of tired and irritable from last week plus seasonal allergies.

SparX 04-13-2017 10:46 AM

Being constantly compared to someone else is not healthy for you growing up T.T
No need to apologize for venting things off your mind <3

Personal story on my end

Kaderin Triste 04-13-2017 01:22 PM

Hugs all around for growing up in shitty situations!

Pessimisticat 04-13-2017 11:25 PM

Kaderin
SparX

Can relate so much ;(
My parents were pretty absent in my life growing up, so my four sisters and I competed (and are still pretty competitive) over their attention. It's quite annoying.
My dad is a whole 'nother story I don't even want to get into, lol.

SparX 04-14-2017 09:48 AM

-hugs for everyone-
My mother now tells me if she would of known how abusive he was mentally and physically she would of left him, but that goes into a whole other argument how he convinced her I was a pathological liar XD

Man am I so glad the weekend is here even though I will probably have to work both days T.T

Kaderin Triste 04-14-2017 02:53 PM

Nothing like family to screw you up.

Aww...working on the weekend sucks. But yay money?
I'll be working this weekend. Working on some new stuffed animal patterns because the book I ordered arrived! 8D

SparX 04-14-2017 09:27 PM

Wooooo to doing stuffs!
Yeah. Wonder if I will hit overtime =x
I had to do another 200 lbs of dirt today mixing and that makes 600 lbs mixed this week and my shoulders are killing me. Thank god its only office work this weekend .-.

Kaderin Triste 04-15-2017 03:37 PM

Yikes mixing dirt doesn't sound fun at all!
