Raven got up and walked over to Wolfe with the box in his hands. "... I don't want to stress you out even more," he started as he played with the lid of the box. "I hope it won't. But I don't know how long we'll be gone, so I want to give this to you now." So Raven held the box out to Wolfe.
Wolfe paused for a moment before nodding and slowly pulling the lid off.
It was one of the electric violins that had caught Wolfe's eye in the music shop.
Wolfe froze for a moment before slowly pulling it out of the box with gentle hands. He traced it with his hands before looking back at Raven, "Thank you," he said quietly.
Raven slowly smiled, glad it had gone over positively. "Your welcome," he told him.
Wolfe paused a moment before leaning in.
Raven leaned down a little, trying not to crush the violin.
Eventually when Raven went looking for Laurel, he couldn't find her. Snow caught him and informed him that Laurel and Nic had gone to a club.
So Raven went looking for Wolfe again to let him know what was going on and to ask him what to do next.
Wolfe thought about it for a moment, "Wait for them at the docks," he told Raven, "When they return, take Laurel away and tell Nic that I need to speak with him."
Raven nodded, going to pack some stuff before waiting for Laurel and Nic to return at the docks. But Nic didn't return to the club.
Laurel didn't go looking for Nic and didn't return to the resort.
-- Later on in the night when Nic and Laurel still hadn't returned, Wolfe knocked on Yue's door. |
Nic didn't return to the resort either.
-- Yue appeared to be asleep. It took a little while to rouse her, but she eventually opened the door. |
Wolfe peered at her, his expression was unusually blank. "Did you lie?" he asked simply.
"Lie?" Yue asked groggily as she rubbed her eyes.
"Do you know David?" Wolfe questioned.
"Huh?" Yue said, still groggy, but after a moment she shook her head. "Raven already asked."
"Are you sure?" Wolfe replied a little coldly, "I'll give you another chance to answer."
"She already said she didn't know," James voice suddenly called, "Lay off, Wolfe." He was approaching from the side. |
As James spoke, Yue seemed to get a migraine.
James joined Wolfe, "But Yue, we do need to talk you about Nic. We might..." he glanced at Wolfe, "Well we might be kicking him out."
Yue didn't appear to be paying attention to what James was saying. "Can I go back to bed now?" she asked Wolfe.
"Yue!" James snapped, "Stop sulking and listen to me! Nic's done something unforgivable to the neonates."
Wolfe stiffed a little but continued to stare at Yue. |
"It was just a matter of time," Yue snapped. "And I don't know any David. So I'm going to bed."
"You really don't care if he leaves?" James questioned.
"Not right now," Yue replied as she started to go back inside.
James shook his head as he left, "Selfish girl."
Wolfe turned as well. Soon all the neonates had gathered and were now waiting for Nic. |
Nic didn't return that night or the next morning. After noon Nic slowly made his way to see if the boat he and Laurel came on was still at the dock.
It was still there, but Laurel wasn't in sight.
Nic got on the boat, but didn't leave. Instead he waited.
Laurel didn't show.
Nic kept waiting.
Seriously, she wasn't coming.
After the sun had set, Nic turned on the boat and started back for the resort.
Just as he left he heard curses being shouted, presumably at him. Definitely Laurel's voice.
Nic turned to see where it was coming from.
In the distance he could see Laurel, in a row boat. She really looked like a total mess. She was still shouting curses at him.
Nic immediately turned around and drove the boat alongside the row boat.
She was all glares but was also clearly relieved. She looked darker than she had the night before, like she'd been in the sun a lot. She was very stiff as she moved from the rowboat to their actual boat, something had exhausted her. On further observation, she'd lost her shoes and her feet were cut up.
Nic was much dirtier than the previous night and smelled almost like a trash can. He had also had a little too much sun. He put the boat into neutral as Laurel got on board. Then he suddenly walked over to Laurel and threw his arms around her in a tight hug.
Laurel was taken aback for a moment before hugging him back and burying her face in his chest.
