Well, it would make the site more active overall I would think.

Tohopekaliga 01-09-2017 01:13 PM

It already has. :P There's a fair number of recent active people who moved over from Syndrone.

And "over a month" is a bit of an understatement. It's more like "since September."

ml1201 01-09-2017 01:37 PM

Oh, I don't normally check out the forums as a whole, mostly just threads I follow. ^^;

Tohopekaliga 01-09-2017 03:53 PM

I see. Well, then! :P Now ya know.

Syndrone has been a sinking ship for a while now.

Yokuutsu 01-09-2017 04:51 PM

I only checked that thread due to announcement notification XD

Tohopekaliga 01-09-2017 05:00 PM

lol, well, good thing those are there, then. XD

Espy 01-09-2017 06:47 PM

Man, I was really excited about Syndrone when it first launched, too. Those avatars are nice.

Yokuutsu 01-09-2017 08:42 PM

I was really excited about it too....I joined the day it went up actually.

Lawtan 01-09-2017 09:35 PM

I tried it for a while, but got lost rather quickly.

Yokuutsu 01-10-2017 07:16 PM

Well, I remember the original admin getting pissy at me because I pointed out a problem that could be fixed with a sentence or a bit of coding, whichever they preferred.

Later got banned (created another account since then, also the original got unbanned) and found out from a friend of said admin that they had been looking for a reason to ban me (got a temp ban, then during the temp ban I got perma-banned....can't do anything wrong when I can't access the website)...so more points against that admin....on top of that, the email address to contact the admin? Bounced back ALL emails.

Then Fork happened. That was pretty bad.

Then Fork's friend took over.

Then these people took over.

Tohopekaliga 01-10-2017 07:51 PM

Syndrone was just a series of messes for its whole lifetime, it seems...

Impressive it got as big as it did, and collected such quality artwork.

Yokuutsu 01-10-2017 11:18 PM

That's very true. If Fork hadn't happened, I think everything would be different, you know?

Tohopekaliga 01-11-2017 12:17 AM

I did not witness the Forking of Syndrone, but I poked around the internet some to try to figure it out recently.

And I think the main issue that happened with Fork was that he was really shit at dealing with people.

I mean, what I read about fork-related drama did not say that's what the problem was. There were all kinds of grievances. But that's what it seemed like.

That, and nobody had any idea what they were talking about. (Fork nor the anti-Fork people.) lol.

Granted, all I found was a little thread on Gaia with a series of screenshots and thoughts, but still.

All the same, yes, I believe you're right.

Moonless Midnight 01-11-2017 01:00 AM

The last straw before things totally blew up big time was the stuff with Fork. I can't remember what exactly went down since it's been ages and I've since cooled down and forgotten about it but I think part of it was from the backlash of having something similar already happen from the previous site happen to the current one since alot of people from the old/former site had joined Syndrone. (I was a member of both from the earlier days of the old site). Either way the mods and admins and other people in charge weren't that great or that friendly for the most part aside from a few exceptions. Syndrone was a tad better about it at least though.

Coda 01-11-2017 01:01 AM

I assume the pun of the site getting forked up has been made many times.

Moonless Midnight 01-11-2017 01:04 AM

@Coda: Most definitely it has XD Though I know I've heard a few sites other than Syn have gotten "forked over" too.

Tohopekaliga 01-11-2017 01:04 AM

The information I read was in a Gaia Guld called "Get Forked," so....

Moonless Midnight 01-11-2017 01:07 AM

yeah, that was started by someone i think so that all the gaia Synners could have a place to check out updates and the like on what was happening and what had happened I think?

Tohopekaliga 01-11-2017 01:18 AM

Something like that, probably. Apparently there were a lot of random senseless bannings at the same time?

Moonless Midnight 01-11-2017 01:22 AM

Yeah I heard something about that. There was even a staff member that apparently snuck into the guild to "spy" on the members and report back to the Syn staff to ban some of them... or so I heard at one point.

Yokuutsu 01-11-2017 01:52 AM

Fork used website money for stuff like food and stuff on top of paying himself when he was doing nothing for the website. Essentially, stealing money. I mean he would take his 'pay' out and then still use what's left for food, hookah stuff, etc which not actually working on the website.

I thought krank did more of the senseless bannings, or her administration did, but I'm not sure either way on that.

I knew when Fork took over, it wouldn't be good, I saw what happened to Elidiun. Down for over a year for a 'revamp' and when they brought it back up? Nothing different. Then a few months later, we were told it would shut down in like a month and for half of that month the website was so broken that you couldn't do anything on it.

I knew when he got syndrone, it was the beginning of the end. He didn't kill it though, surprisingly.

(I have anger)

Tohopekaliga 01-11-2017 01:57 AM

XD that's just silly. Hunt for drama and you will surely find it.

Moonless Midnight 01-11-2017 01:58 AM

Ah yeah, that sounds about right. I only vaguely remember it having to do with how he was spending the money but couldn't remember the exact details. In all honesty there's no problem with you being really angry at Fork. Hell I was pretty pissed myself for the longest time after Syn got forked. I just ended up getting to the point where I was tired of getting mad at him/every time the situation was mentioned so eh.

Yokuutsu 01-11-2017 01:59 AM

I am a member of that Gaia guild, they deleted a lot of the stuff documenting the not so good administration. I liked reading it. It made me sad and happy at the same time, because I wanted the website to do well....but I also got screwed XD

I think part of my anger is that I did go to college for business. I know that type of stuff is not something you do....unless you are the only person. Which he was or had made it an llc or whatever....and at that point, it just feels really wrong to do what he did. Now, a sole proprietorship type business? Well, one person is taking all the risks, that if something goes wrong that they'll be sued, so then I could at least let it go with my eye twitching a bit or something.

Tohopekaliga 01-11-2017 02:07 AM

It looked like just nobody involved in administration had any idea how to actually run something.

Yokuutsu 01-11-2017 02:11 AM

That's how I see it.

krank wanted to get rid of syndrone, so Fork got it.

I mean, if I could've bought it, I would've lol

Moonless Midnight 01-11-2017 02:11 AM

Yeah I think the bottom line was that none of them knew how to run a business/site like that so it failed in the end.

Tohopekaliga 01-11-2017 02:31 AM

Also, if you're curious, Trisphee is a sole proprietorship. Revenue is much too low to reasonably be anything else. Maybe an llc, but even then, that's just needless legal fees.

Coda 01-11-2017 03:02 AM

I had actually looked into drafting up incorporation paperwork circa 2013, but no one on staff wanted to bear the responsibility of having actual board meetings to comply with the requirements. :P Also the filing fees were a bit too high (though not unreasonably so).

ml1201 01-11-2017 04:14 PM

Well, things seem to be alright here management wise, I mean besides one or two people on here who weren't stuff I haven't had any issues. .-.

Fulkth 01-11-2017 11:41 PM

It's interesting to hear what is going on on other avatar sites. Now that roliana has closed down, all I have is trisphee. XD

Bassy 01-12-2017 10:15 PM

I am limited to 2 avatar sites. I'm just on Trisphee and Windlyn and That's about as much I can keep up with on a daily basis lol. As for gaia, they should just create a new site (like what pokefarm did) and start over and get new staffing.

Tohopekaliga 01-12-2017 10:17 PM

Making a new site doesn't make sense for a place like Gaia...they're so big all they'd do is lose people.

Bassy 01-12-2017 10:19 PM

Gaia isn't gonna get fixed at all... or anytime soon anyway. It's too much of a mess. I know pokefarm did it and they're pretty organized, and it's not messy.

Tohopekaliga 01-12-2017 10:23 PM

Well, yeah. It'll always be a mess...but it'll still make them money for a long time, I'm sure.

Espy 01-13-2017 03:46 AM

Wait. Roli closed?!

Tohopekaliga 01-13-2017 08:38 AM

"extended downtime", so it should come back... In theory. I think shutting down your site for more than a day or so is a terrible idea.

Ginger 01-13-2017 04:28 PM

Gaia actually did make a new avatar site called Tentacl. I joined and it was an 18+ community. I liked it but they shut it down after a few months because they expected it to grow instantaneously overnight, and when it didn't, they decided to can it altogether. I have my avatar saved from there. I loved the bases.

Yokuutsu 01-14-2017 01:08 AM

Well, Lanzer is back at Gaia, so maybe things will eventually be fixed? -protects mini flame of hope-

Roliana was having problems where back ups were causing everything to crash....and they're rolling back to August cause that was their last back up. So...yeah, taking time to fix things and update to the newest....phBB? Idk.

Espy 01-14-2017 02:17 AM

I REALLY LIKED TENTACL. Well, some of it. The artist of my favorite webcomic was on there and I nearly died.
