Raven chuckled at Wolfe as he struggled. Raven tried an abnormal flavor; it seemed he would typically go for something he hadn't tried over something that was familiar. It wasn't always a hit as he made a bit of a sour face.
Wolfe had tried vanilla again. He bought himself some water and continued on. After a bit he spotted a carousel and looked at Raven. It was pretty clear that Wolfe was trying to have fun, like a mini vacation, but really didn't know how.
Raven laughed a bit more. "How about there?" Raven suggested, pointing to what appeared to be a music shop.
Wolfe paused, seeming a little hesitant. Raven hadn't heard any music from any of the neonates since they'd left James' mansion. But after a long moment Wolfe nodded and took off towards it.
Raven was a little confused; he had thought Wolfe liked music and the violin. He followed after him and looked at all the instruments for sale.
Wolfe slowly browsed his way over to the electric violins, touching them for a moment before suddenly walking over and picking up a ukulele. He strummed it once.
-- In the early hours of the morning, Laurel slipped into Nic's room. |
Raven watched Wolfe and chuckled a little. "You want to try one of them out?" he asked, gesturing to the electric violins.
-- Nic appeared to be asleep, but he started to wake up as Laurel entered. His sleep appeared to be very restless. |
Wolfe looked like he wanted to, but something was making him hesitant.
-- Laurel walked over and climbed into the bed beside him, she didn't seem to care if he woke up. |
"... What's wrong?" Raven asked quietly. "I thought you loved the violin."
-- Nic tossed a little, waking up as Laurel started to get into bed. He started a little, almost like he was going to jump out of bed, but then he settled down. |
Wolfe looked away.
-- Laurel didn't seem to care, it didn't look like she'd slept very well either. She pulled the blanket back over both of them as she moved to his side. |
Raven frowned. "... Wolfe?" he asked, touching his arm lightly.
-- Nic was slightly sweaty, and he didn't say anything as he laid back down on the bed. |
Wolfe began to strum the ukulele.
-- Laurel was silent for a very long time as she rested against him, "Akil called again last night..." she whispered. |
Raven listened for awhile before picking up another ukulele and joining Wolfe. He wasn't quite as good, but it sounded like he had put some effort into playing the ukulele before.
-- Nic didn't say anything, remaining still. |
Wolfe played for awhile before grabbing Raven's and walking to the cashier. He proceeded to buy both of them.
-- "I didn't answer... so they can't track it right?" she whispered. |
Raven laughed a little. "I've never thought you were a ukelele guy," he replied.
-- "... Maybe," Nic replied quietly. |
Wolfe looked back at Raven, "Isn't it... fun?" he asked, 'fun' sounding like some elusive thing.
-- "Good thing I wasn't on the resort," Laurel sighed as she hid her face in his chest. |
"... Uh..." Raven muttered. "... Do you enjoy playing the ukelele? Enough to buy one and keep practicing in your spare time?"
-- Nic didn't say anything. |
Wolfe shrugged.
-- So Laurel fell silent as she wrapped her arms around him tighter. |
So Raven tried something else. "... Does playing the ukelele vaguely remind you... of what you felt like when you stepped on land after being on that boat all night? Or what you feel like when you play the violin? Or when you're flying? Or when Frei smiles?"
Wolfe looked very confused. How did any of those things go together and what did they have to do with a ukulele?
Raven nodded a little. This was going to take awhile. "... Why don't we leave them for now and think about it?" he suggested.
That seemed to make Wolfe more confused, "You don't want it?" he clarified.
"... No," Raven said to make things simple.
Wolfe shrugged and then proceeded to buy one for himself.
Raven sighed, but didn't try to stop Wolfe. Maybe the carousel was a better idea.
So Wolfe walked out of the store with his sunhat, strumming a ukulele. Perhaps there was a certain image of fun he was going for.
Raven was still trying to figure out what that picture exactly looked like. But he continued to have fun hanging out with Wolfe even if he didn't get it.
Wolfe made a few more seemingly random stops before ending up looking at tide-pools. He didn't seem to have a clear image of his fun image either.
Raven didn't get too close to the tide pools since there was water and Wolfe didn't like water. After staring at them awhile, Raven glanced over at the thick patch of tropical trees and shrubs just off the shore. "... What's that over there?" he asked, motioning to the trees. Nothing looked too out of the ordinary.
"Balanae Deus fern," Wolfe stated.
"... In the fern," Raven continued as he started to walk toward it, "I think I saw something in the fern scurry away. We should check it out."
Wolfe frowned a little but went with Raven over to the ferns.
Raven walked through the ferns and the trees for awhile until they couldn't see the beach or the town anymore. "Huh..." Raven said as he stopped. "Guess it was nothing."
Wolfe shrugged, rookie mistake.
Raven shrugged a little back as he walked closer to Wolfe. "I guess it's just us here."
Wolfe was about to mention that that wasn't accurate from a scientific viewpoint but as he looked at Raven he seemed to understand and turned a little pink.
Raven smirked a little, stopping half a foot away from him. "... I think I'm going to call you Fa," he told him, smirk still on his face.
And the confused look returned.
"Fa," Raven repeated. "F. A. That will be my nickname for you," Then leaned in closer and whispered in Wolfe's ear, "Because you're my fallen angel."
Wolfe froze as Raven got closer. He didn't seem to know how to respond to that, his brain was thinking too much again.
