Dan shoved back, getting between Bee and the door. "You're not taking Laurel anywhere," she challenged.
Bee snorted, "Really?" she asked with a deadly undertone, "Move. While I'm asking nicely." The street side of her was surfacing.
Dan swallowed a little, but she kept her ground. "This isn't right," she tried to reason with Bee. "We've only been here a few hours. We need to give it more time."
Bee glared at her fiercely, "More time?! Why? So we can sit back and watch Laurel get beaten to a pulp?" she demanded, "No. I'm done. Raven refuses to help, Nic's not answering his tablet, and I refuse to watch this unfold. I'm leaving, and I'm taking Laurel with me." she spat as she forced her way through rather viciously.
Dan wasn't very good at this, but every time Bee shoved her way past, Dan got in the way again. "What do you mean, Raven wont' help? So, he got depressed. Let him sulk for awhile and then yell at him to snap out of it. And Laurel wasn't being beaten, she was sleeping. She's got to have a little energy before she'll listen to anything any of us have to say."
"She can sleep during the flight. I've had enough of this shit. We're leaving." and she continued to cuss as she shifted Laurel and raised a hand to strike Dan if she wouldn't move.
Dan still got in Bee's way. Her eyes were afraid, but she didn't flinch. "What if I was carrying you in my arms away from James laying in that bed?!" she demanded.
"James would never beat the shit out of me!" Bee snarled back, "What these two share is NOT love! This is an abusive relationship at it's worst! A father abusing his own daughter!" she cursed fluently, "I don't care if Laurel hates me for the rest of her life, I won't let her get seriously injured in the name of love. She'd die for her father but I'm not about to let that happen." and with that she kicked Dan in the shin and stormed past.
Dan cried out as she fell to the side. "There's... something wrong with his head," she called after Bee through gritted teeth. She slowly started to stand, but she couldn't keep up with Bee.
Then suddenly a very sick Cong appeared in Bee's path. "Please... stay awhile longer," he asked Bee. He was leaning against the wall for support; he wasn't much of a blockade as he started coughing. |
Bee ignored Dan and bowed slightly to Cong, "Please continue to care for her father." then swiftly headed out the door.
Cong gave Bee a "you've got to be kidding" look as he continued to lean on the wall for support. When Dan caught up to Cong, the helped each other outside.
As Bee neared the Juttle, Raven was running to intercept Bee. Apparently he had been near enough to hear the commotion. |
Like Raven had done to her earlier, Bee ignored his presence and continued towards the Juttle undaunted.
Raven came to a sliding halt between Bee and the Juttle. "This won't fix anything!" he declared angrily. "The only way to come out of this unscathed is if all of us help Laurel make up her own damn mind, not betray her!"
"All of... us?! You're too busy moping to yourself to help anyone!" Bee demanded just as angrily, "You exclaimed that you couldn't help so get of my way, you bastard." she spat at him.
"No," Raven snarled angrily, with a hint of some old pain. "I'm in charge, and she stays. So get her back inside!"
"Says who?!" Bee shouted, "You gave up leadership when you gave up on helping Laurel!" She stood her ground firmly as she clutched Laurel tighter.
Raven cussed a little. "Crust, when the terra did I say I was giving up?!" he demanded. "Wolfe put me in charge, so go put her back now."
"NO! I won't!" Bee retorted angrily, "You said you have no right to interfere, so don't! You said you couldn't help so leave us alone!" she spat back, there were some tears forming but her eyes remained angry.
"I have every right to stop you!" Raven retorted. "And I will by any means necessary."
"Why?" Bee demanded, "Why do you suddenly care again?!" She took in a sharp breath, "The minute I put her back you're going to go back to moping and I can't handle this by myself!" she suddenly shouted before gasping a little at the words she had let come out. She glanced away from Raven.
"That's why I didn't come here alone!" Raven shouted back. "I swear, you women are impossible!"
Bee slowly turned her gaze back to Raven, eyes furious once more. Apparently, that had been the wrong thing to say. "Bastard." she said coldly, "What gives you the right... to criticize me?" she demanded in a low, frigid voice.
Dan let out a deep sigh. This fight could go on all day.
"Women let their emotions overwhelm them and then they take it upon themselves to do rash things by themselves!" Raven explained. "... Smooth talker," Cong noted before coughing again. "... I'll get you back inside," Dan decided as she helped Cong back to bed. |
Bee continued to stare at Raven coldly, "You have no right to group all women together and belittle them." she stated, voice furious. "You have no right at all you prejudice, self-worshipping piece of..." and proceeded to cuss him out viciously.
Raven took what Bee dished out. When it finally started to calm down, he replied, "If you're finished, go put Laurel back inside."
Bee snorted, "What? You really think all girls are the same? You think I'm just going to get angry then calm down and comply with you?" she spat, still as furious as ever though she appeared calmer. "You forget I was born and raised on the streets. I'm not going to take orders from you, bastard. If you think for one second that I'm a compliant woman who you can boss around, you're terribly mistaken. I've gone along with you because I thought you were different. That you had a bit of James in you." she shook her head, "But you don't. I hate men like you. I work for James, not Wolfe. You have no power over me." she told Raven cruelly, "And I'm going to do what's best for Laurel regardless of what you say."
"I thought you were different too," Raven retorted. "I don't care what you think of me. But what's best for Laurel is for us to help her see that she isn't just hurting herself."
Bee actually laughed, "You... thought I was different?" she asked, "Funny. How is that possible when you think all women are the same?" she inquired harshly. "And I think that having wishy-washy friends who give up on their ability to help her one moment and want to help her the next will do her more harm then just taking her away outright." she countered firmly.
"I'm so sorry for showing weakness - I know, a man like James isn't supposed to do that," Raven snorted. "But don't worry; you won't ever have to see it again."
Bee glared at Raven, "James is weak and he's not afraid to show it. He has more troubles than you could possibly imagine. But he doesn't give up and he would never give up on a friend even for a minute." she stated firmly. "I won't give Laurel back to you until you swear that that self-pitying episode you pulled today won't happen again while you're helping Laurel. I won't stand for it."
"You know nothing about me!" Raven replied, voice raising. "Like terra I'd just give up on Laurel! And like terra can you compare me to James like this. I'm not James. I'm me, not anyone else! So get Laurel inside before she catches a cold and before I take her from you!"
Bee stood still for a long time, "How does it feel? It doesn't feel good does it, to be compared with another? What if I started grouping all guys together and saying they were all the same. You would declare that you're nothing like James, right? You would declare your individuality." she sighed with a small smirk, "Hypocrite."
Then she walked forward and handed Laurel over to James, "Take good care of her, she needs you to have that confidence you just showed me. Don't lose it again." And she turned to step around him and towards the Juttle. |
Raven had more to say, but he had the wisdom to keep his mouth shut as he took Laurel. Eyes still flashing with anger, he walked back inside and put Laurel back in bed before checking on Dan and Cong.
Bee didn't came back out of the Juttle but it stayed where it was.
"You see..." Kale stated to Blaze as they watched a pink blur on the screen, "He moves so fast it's hard to tell but... if you look closely he has a bit of a pattern." he nodded, "He can't help it after all the years of 'programing.' But figuring out which set he's running through it pretty near impossible. That and sometimes he'll throw a sudden punch or kick that's completely different from what he had been doing. That trick move has knocked down more opponents when I can count." Kale nodded, "But this is only hand to hand. Never go up against him if he's holding a gun." he added with another nod. |
The three stayed inside. Dan and Raven watched over Cong, Laurel, and her father.
"Hmmm..." Blaze noted. Surprisingly, it wasn't clear if she was interested or not. |
Laurel's father was showing signs of waking up again but Laurel was still fast asleep thanks to Bee.
Kale chuckled as he explained a few other things, "I doubt he'll ever fight you for real though." he sighed, "But it's kinda fun to watch... with his pink hair and all." he mused. |
Before Cong went to sleep, he gave Dan and Raven some smelling salts to wake Laurel if her father woke up.
Blaze didn't seem to get the part about the pink hair, but she didn't ask. |
Laurel's father woke with a start, instantly starting to unhook himself from the machines around him.
Laurel, however would not wake up, even with the smelling salts. Whatever Bee had given her was very strong. |
Raven immediately ran into Laurel's father's room.
Dan kept trying to wake Laurel up. |
When Raven entered the room, Laurel's father paused from detangling himself and glanced over at him. His eyes were rather inquisitive. He hadn't seen this person around here before.
