"No I'm gonna come back to England with you." Holden said with a smile. "I'll start looking for a house right away when we get back. I'll stay at Alicia's with my sister." He said thinking about what else he has to do. "I don't like the fact that when my dad dies I have control over his entire estate." He said as he mentally wrote a to do list. "I need to set up a trust fund for Amanda's $50 million, sell the house. Have the corvette shipped over to England." He muttered a few more things before looking up at Solomon. "Sorry my dad went over his will with me when I turned eighteen. And every year since then." He said still making a list in his head. "I probably wont be back to England for at most two weeks." Holden said calmly.
|
Solomon nodded, "If you had wanted to stay State side, I would understand, of course. Moving to another country can be quite hard for someone her age. And..you don't have to move out. I've got plenty of space for her. Hell, Alicia can move in if she wanted, I don't care. I'm not usually a company person, but you two are the most important people in my life." He shrugged, sitting forward with a wince, "Gah. While you visit with your dad, I will be getting something to drink. I'll return as soon as I can."
|
"No I actually starting to hate the states. I will be back to merry ol' England." Holden said with a smile. "Amanda is a very adaptive person she will be fine. I don't know how you will like her, she get's annoying really fast to people who have never met her." He said with a slight frown on his face. "School records, I need to get them. Curses." He said shaking his fist. "You are very important to me to Solomon, so is Alicia, and Amanda. Your gonna be spread to thin Holden." He said looking at Solomon. "Just don't hurt yourself, ok?" Holden said with a concerned smile.
|
Solomon shrugged, "Holden, I'm a 570 year old vampire. I think I've learned a thing or two about patience and dealing with people." He chuckled slightly, rolling eyes a bit. "It'll be fine. Plus, with her being at my address, I'm sure she could get into a fairly decent school. Nothing so super snobby like you often see on the damn tv, but, nothing like the schools of Wisconsin's Milwaukee."
|
"As long as she get's an education, I will be fine. Crap I still gotta look into schools myself. So much to do." He said feeling like he was gonna hyperventilate, but he couldn't because he didn't breath. "More crap, I forgot my dad had two cars in storage." He said starting to freak out. He had so much stuff to do, he felt like he didn't have enough time to do it all. Holden was in full on panic mode.
|
Solomon came over, "Holden, relax. We can stay here as long as necessary to get everything sorted out. There's no rush. Just, calm down." He kissed Holden lightly on the lips with a slight smile. "It'll all work out."
|
Holden kissed Solomon back. "It's just that house, I don't wanna stay there. But we have to." He said as he slowly calmed down. "Why did my father make me his medical proxy?" He asked himself. "I don't know anything about medicine. This will be the last time I see him." Holden said looking down.
*** The plane landed on the ground about forty five minutes later. They got to Holden's car. "Are you sure your gonna be alright?" He asked sweetly. "If you need anything just call me ok?" Holden said kissing Solomon on the lips. |
Solomon gave him a tight hug, "I will be fine. I will contact you as soon as I get enough power to do so. If you have any questions, ask me. I know a thing or do about medicine." He kissed Holden again, rather intensely, before letting him go. "Just be sure, whatever it is you decide to do, is thought out carefully."
|
Holden kissed Solomon back, "I will." He said as he got into the car. "I don't wanna do this." He said as he started the car. He turned into the nonexistent airport traffic. He dreaded seeing his father hooked up to a whole bunch of machines. "I hope he isn't in pain." He said as he turned to go to the hospital.
About ten minutes later he arrived at the hospital, he took a deep breath as he entered his dads room. "Dad?" He said trying not to cry. Steven was still in the coma. Holden walked farther into the room, "I am to late, I have to talk to the doctor." He said as he went to the nurses station. |
*** Solomon smiled slightly as he pulled his mouth from the young girl's neck. He gave her wound a quick lick, to catch that last drop that managed to squeeze out before he closed her wound. Fresh blood was always much more delicious compared to that refrigerated crap. He looked around, his gray eyes brightening up a bit. After a few more random people here and there, Solomon was almost fully recovered. He was at a point where he preferred to be...moderate. He never like to 'fully recharge' as it always led to bad things. This way, he was off the radar and left alone, for the most part. "Holden..how you doing? I'll be on my way soon." |
"I just got done talking with the doctor, I'm gonna have Amanda say good by then I am pulling the plug." He said looking at his dad. "I'm sorry dad, I'm sorry." Holden said kissing his dad's hand. He wiped away his tears as he stood up to go and get Amanda.
"Brother!" Amanda yelled as she saw Holden. He smiled as he picked up Amanda, "How are you doing sis?" He asked trying to put on a brave face. "Daddy isn't doing good." She said fiddling with her fingers. "I know that's why I am here. Um daddy is going up to heaven." He said biting the inside of his cheek, he bit it so hard that it started bleeding. But it healed up almost instantly. "I know he is. What is gonna happen to me?" She asked looking Holden in the eyes. "Well you are gonna come live with me and my boyfriend in England." He said with a smile as he slowly made his way to his dad's room. "Ok." She said looking down again. "I want you to say good bye to daddy one last time." He said barely keeping himself together. Amanda just nodded. Holden got to his dad's room, he put Amanda down and helped her sit in the chair so she could say good bye. She put her hand on her dad's hand, "I love you daddy, I hope you have fun in heaven." She said. Holden turned around and nodded at the nurse, "Um Amanda this nice lady is gonna take you to the waiting room by auntie." He said as a tear fell down his cheek. Amanda nodded and followed the nurse. Holden listened to make sure she was far enough away. "Do it." Holden said still holding his composure. |
Solomon gave him mind a squeeze, the closest he could do to a hug at the moment. "Holden, I'm so sorry. This is another reason why I should not have met you. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy I met you, but I've only ruined your life. I murdered your mother, destroyed your humanity, and now because of me you lost your father. I'm incredibly sorry. I.." He trailed off, quickly terminating the link before his emotions could pour through.
|
"It's not..." He started to say but Solomon cut the link. "Damn it." He whispered.
"What was the Mr. Evans?" The nurse asked. "Oh it's nothing can you tell my sister that I will be back shortly I need to go get someone." He said as he stood up and went to the door. "Ok sir." She said. "Damn it Solomon, it's not your fault." He thought to himself as he found a spot to hide and teleport. He teleported to where he felt Solomon. "Solomon it isn't your fault." Holden said appearing close to Solomon. |
Solomon shoved his hands in his pockets. Holden was getting good at teleporting, unfortunately. "Don't argue with me, alright?" While his words were generally something said when angry, he was far from it. He rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck, "Either way, you need to get back to the hospital and your sister. I'll be there before you leave. I promise.' He smiled then disappeared. It was time to kick some ass.
|
"I... Er... I hate it when he does that." Holden said as he teleported back to the hospital. He went to the nurses station, he had a lot of paperwork to fill out. "Awesome its one a.m. and I am filling out paperwork." He thought to himself as he sat down in one of the chairs in the waiting room.
|
Right as Holden was finishing with his paperwork, Solomon came down the hallway, looking rather..pleased. While he had not yet gone after Jaclynn, he did manage to learn a few things. Learning made him happy, and therefore, his expression. He rounded the corner to the waiting room, pulling his one hand from his pocket and waving to Holden stating flatly, "Morning..."
|
Holden looked at Solomon blankly, "Do you know how much paperwork is required when you pull the plug?" He asked very irritated. "Then they came by with damn blood bags and I nearly bit the mans arm off." He said as he went back to filling out the paperwork. "My poor sister slept in the family waiting room." He said signing one final piece of paper. He stood up and walked up to Solomon and kissed him on the cheek, he turned and went to the nurses station.
|
Solomon frowned, "You know, you're a mood killer sometimes. You know I'm certainly not smiling about that, so you don't have to and be rude like that. Either way, I understand. It's stressful. You're lucky you didn't, I don't need another crisis from you to clean up. Hopefully you learn better control of your blood lust, and quickly. Amanda will notice at some point." He turned on his heel and followed along behind Holden, his hands in his pockets and his mind somewhere else.
|
"Your welcome, and I'm sorry, I just have a meeting with my lawyers. And of course the whole firm is gonna console me when I'm walking through." Holden said wanting to kiss Solomon, but he resisted the urge. "Here you go ma'am, I don't want to sound pushy but can I go I have to meet with my lawyers and I need to take my sister home." He asked giving the lady a smile.
"It's ok Mr. Evans, just tell the funeral home where he is and they will take care of the rest." The lady said with a smile. "Thanks." He said as he turned around. He put his arm around Solomon's waist, "Time for you to meet my sister." Holden said sounding exhausted. |
Solomon kept quiet and out of the way while Holden spoke with the nurse. When Holden put his arm around his waist, he grinned. He had the obnoxious urge to act overly obnoxious and childish right now. Very strange. He shrugged off the urge and put his arm around Holden, "I'm sure she's not that bad Holden. I'm sure she's a real sweet heart." Solomon adored kids, yet, like most animals, they kind of resented him. They were a bit more sensitive to his vampiric presence than 97% of human adults.
|
"She is I'm just really exhausted." He said showing Solomon his dull gray eyes, when he looked away he instantly turned them to brown.
Amanda was standing outside of the family waiting room alone. "Holden." She said running up to him. "Hey kid, where is auntie?" He asked picking her up. "She had to go home." She said with a frown. "She left you alone? I am gonna have to talk to her." He said really pissed. "Oh where are my manners Amanda this is my boyfriend Solomon; Solomon this is Amanda." Holden said with a smile trying to hide his exhaustion. "Nice to meet you." She said with a cute smile. |
Solomon shook his head, smiling down to Amanda. He did feel a bit weird being introduced as Holden's boyfriend. It had been about..what..50 years since his last little fling? Very awkward. He quickly dispelled the feeling, "And you as well."
|
"Ok kid, now I gotta go meet with the lawyers in about an hour. So before I go and meet them I am gonna take you out for breakfast." He said with a smile as he went towards the elevator.
"Yay, is Solomon coming with us?" She asked tilting her head. "Yes he is." He said with a smile. They made it to the elevator. Holden pressed the button to go down. "Holden is it ok if I make sure he is ok for my big brother." She asked staring down Solomon. "Yes it is ok but you don't have to look at him like that." Holden said trying not to laugh. "I wasn't... Fine." She said with a pout. |
"It's fine Holden, I really don't mind." He smiled a bit. Solomon resisted the intense urge to swat at her face to turn her head. Of course, he would never dare hit a child, especially not a female. Except for Alicia and Jaclynn. He'd swat Alicia, but never in anger but in fun. And Jaclynn..well, he'd beat her to a bloody pulp. He hadn't realized his facial expression changing as his thoughts drifted to Jaclynn and his lost car. At the thought of his Jaguar, he turned his head away with a frown.
|
"Solomon stop, please be happy ok I am gonna be in and out of sad, boring, meetings all day. And I was um wondering if you could watch Amanda during the meetings? He said still smiling. "So where do you wanna go kid?" Holden asked as the elevator stopped. He walked out and headed to his Ford Mustang.
"Umm that one place." She said putting her finger on her chin. "Well that's helpful." He said as he put Amanda down. "Now I want you to wear your seat belt." He said scolding her. "I know." She said as she opened the car door and hopped into the back seat. "Well that was fast." Holden said with a laugh. |
Solomon smiled, "I told you she wasn't bad Holden." He sat in the front seat "I wouldn't mind at all, although I would like to sleep some more now that I'm not in pain, but I can sleep at any hour." He let his head rest against the head rest, closing his eyes, "Are you sure you don't want me to accompany you to the meetings? Lawyers are not always honest people."
|
Holden started the car, "No I will be ok, if they don't tell me the full truth I will fire them. I mean I am their boss now, you know what if you wanna come you can, I know Alicia would be willing to come here to watch her." He said as he turned out of the hospital parking lot.
|
Solomon's face became slightly distressed, "Holden..you can't just go and fire them for that. They're lawyers, it's what they do. They work to their benefit, like everyone else, except they're much better at it. You know as well as I that you're not the one to be running the company, so I would suggest giving it to your dad's 'right hand man'. Hopefully, he'd keep your dad's values in mind."
|
"I know, I'm not the runner I'm the owner. It was already settled in my dad's will. Trust me I know what's going on, I may be crushed under the load of stuff I have to do. But I know what to do." He said trying to concentrate on the road. "I think when I get to the house I'm gonna take the limo." He sighed as they pulled into the restaurant parking lot. "Here we are kid." Holden said with a smile.
|
"If you want to.." he said flatly as he got out of the car. Suddenly, his phone started to buzz in his pocket. "Excuse me..." He walked away a bit, flipping it open, "Hello?" He was silent while he listened, occasionally offering a word or two to indicate he was still there and listening. After a moment, he hung up, placing the phone back in his pocket with a sigh.
He put on a smile as he turned around and walked back over to them, "Sorry about that..it was the contractor..anyway, shall we eat?" He didn't like to lie to Holden, but he didn't want to mention Rilov in front of Amanda. "Rita called...she said he'll be coming out of sedation soon, and that for the most part, the surgery went well. We'll see how well it works over the next few days." |
Holden nodded as he picked up Amanda. He stood while he waited for Solomon.
"Yes let's. You two are so quiet." Amanda said with a little pout. "Oh I'm sorry kid, will you forgive me?" He asked with a smile. "That's good Solomon." He said squeezing Solomon's brain gently. "Umm maybe, what do I get if I forgive you." She asked putting her index finger on her chin. "Ouch blackmail, nice. Umm I will buy you a new teddy." He said as he opened the door. "Three please." He said as he got to the counter. He followed the waiter to the table. "Yay a new teddy?" Amanda said throwing her hands up. "She loves teddy bears." Holden said looking at Solomon. |
Solomon followed along silently, his hands in his pockets, "Oh I see. She does know that real bears are not like that? I would hope?" He couldn't help but chuckle a loud at the thought. He could just imagine it; in Amanda's mind when she thought of a bear out in the wild this huge stuffed creature was roaming about it's business.
|
"I think she does but I am not sure." Holden said with a smile. They made it to the table, he put Amanda in and then sat down next to her. "Sorry she has always liked to sit next to me." He said as he sensed something. "Oh god please don't be her, please." He said hiding his face in his hands.
"What's wrong Holden?" Amanda asked looking at Him. |
Solomon shrugged, sitting across from them, "It's fine Holden. I can share." He could sense Holden was upset, and so did Amanda. "Who? What's wrong Holden?"
|
"Holden? Holden Evans? I know its you, you can't hide from me." A lady said as she walked up to Holden.
"Hi Beth." Holden said apprehensive. "That's all you can say is hi? You are a piece of shit you know that? You have sex with me and then you break up with me?" She said stomping her foot. "Oh god. First off you tied me to a chair naked and had your way with me. Second I told you I was gay from the beginning. Oh god." He said trying not to gag. "You told me you loved me." She said getting more upset. "Like a sister." He said still hiding his face. "You are a horrible person Holden, I never want to see you again!" She said as she smacked him in the head, then she stormed out of the restaurant. Holden didn't want to look up he was very embarrassed, his eyes were light blue. |
Solomon watched as she stormed out. Oh he was about ot have some fun~ He knew Holden could sense the deviousness rolling off Solomon. "Well, that was interesting." He paused, pulling out his phone, swiftly pressing a side button to make it glow. He sighed,"When the waitress come by, just get me some coffee, alright? Regular." He stood, opening the phone and heading outside as he held a one sided conversation with himself.
Once outside, he shut the phone and put it in his pocket while he looked for the girl. Ah! There she was. "You know, that was awfully rude." He kept his hands in his pockets as he watched her. |
Holden nodded, trying to shake off his embarrassment. "Amanda you can get what ever you want ok?" He said trying to make his eyes go back to brown.
"Who in the hell do you think you are?" Beth asked very pissed. |
"Well you're just a bundle of crudeness." He stated flatly, almost insultingly. "Well then..." He walked up to her, looking down to see her face, as he was a bit taller than her, "You will go apologize to him. Now."
|
"I will do no such thing, that asshole ruined my life." She said pointing at the window.
"How did I ruin her life?" Holden asked Solomon. "Who was that lady Holden?" Amanda asked confused. "She was a friend of me a few years ago." He said finally looking up. The waiter came over and took their orders. |
Solomon shook his head, "You did that all on your own. Your idiotic actions have accomplished that. Besides, he told you he was gay. You really think that meant 'strap me to a chair and do what you will'?" He shook his head, "You will go apologize...or I'll tell all your little friends and family members about that night."
