Their wings began to glow and most of them fell silent. Denum could hear the murmur in their minds as they started to communicate telepathically. Why the sudden change? Red frowned and looked at Q in confusion.
|
"Rathi has been captured by The Facility," Quarrel informed them, quietly. "To replace me for DNA."
Aireio stumbled out of the nets and began to look around for Kamariya. |
"Oh shit, we gotta get him out!" Red burst- starting to crawl across the netting.
Stop the Iram! Denum caught this line sudden and his eyes went wide. "Guys, lookout!" He warned. |
Aireio stopped at Denum's words, while Quarrel reached out and grabbed Red's hand.
|
A few of the closer Silvers crowded around the nets- blocking off Red and his friends.
"Q?" Red turned to look at the boy as he held his hand. |
Quarrel slipped off the net and moved in front of the others. 'What is going on?' He questioned. 'They are not at fault.'
|
"They are not being stopped for being dangerous." The King informed.
Denum moved to cover LiSen. |
"Then what is it, Appah?" Quarrel asked, turning to look back at the others.
|
"They cannot go back there." The older Silver shook his head. "They would want them to come back."
|
The teen turned toward his friends. "He says that you can't go back to The Facility - that they want you to come back."
"But we can't just leave Rathi there!" Aireio huffed. "Its our fault he's there!" |
"Where is Kamariya?" The man demanded.
"The city...there was something that happened." Another piped in quickly. "We have to go!" Red burst. "Who else will save him!?" |
"I was going to look for her!" Aireio cried. "Does she know about Rathi!?"
"What happened?" Quarrel asked. "The city?" |
"The city?" Red repeated when he caught Quarrel saying this.
"We do not know." The King shook his head. "What about the city!?" Red pressed. |
There were a few whispers, before there was a loud sound and they all turned as a group came in, holding an unmoving body.
"Quapell!" Quarrel's mother gasped, rushing over to the fallen Silver. "What happened?" "The City burns," Another replied, sadly, as they laid the fallen warrior on the ground. "A little brother has killed everyone." |
"Irma?" The murmur rippled through the crowd- they all looked shocked and worried.
"Quarrel, what's happening?" Red asked. |
"A child from The Facility," Quarrel whispered, his face completely white. "...Burned the human city and... killed everyone."
LiSen threw a hand over his mouth, his sister looking sick as she slipped to the ground, landing heavily on her behind. |
"...We're the only ones...just us and...Kayen." Red breathed.
|
"Who did this?" Quarrel asked the ones gathering around the fallen warrior.
"A moon child," One female replied. "A moon child, she says," Quarrel informed. "'Moon' is also the word for 'white'." "It was Kayen..." Aireio whispered. |
"What did he do?" Denum looked horrified. "The city...everyone? He killed people?"
|
"He burned it to the ground!" Aireio cried. "That doesn't sound like Kayen... he wants to protect humans, not harm them..."
|
"She's right, he'd never do something like that!" Denum said- crawling over to the edge of the netting. "Someone's made a mistake!"
|
Quarrel spoke to the woman again, before she looked at them. "There were others there. Adults. A red haired man with a strange head item, a brown haired man with a strange hat, a black-haired man who could not speak, and a yellow haired man with strange things over his eyes."
|
"...The village people?" Red blinked.
|
"Those last two sound like Adamanti and Shotaro," LiSen commented.
"They do!" Aireio gasped. "Did they escape too?" "Probably followed Kayen," LiSen hummed. |
"What, they followed Kayen!?" Denum gaped. "Why would they...I mean..."
"Ouch." Red turned to Q. "This thing is really coming out bad and you guys don't really know what you're getting into." |
"I don't make the choices," Quarrel informed, nodding to his father.
|
"But you can tell them...you were there...sorta." Red pleaded.
"I have to find Kayen and my dad." Denum said- starting to get up. |
"I'm going w-" LiSen started, but winced as he tried to stand on his leg.
"None of you going anywhere," Quarrel's mom cut in. "Not risking Quarrel, his Wei-Mei, or his friends!" "Assah!" Quarrel cried at her, frowning. "It's true," She told him, firmly. "You will stay!" |
"His way-what?" Red frowned.
"I have to!" Denum burst. "That's my family!" |
"Your father safe," The woman holding the fallen solider said in extremely broken English. "He with Ryou."
"Ryou?" Aireio asked, helping LiSen to sit on some of the glowing rocks - which seemed to ease his pain for some reason. "Ryou is who teaches us English," Quarrel's mother explained, gently. "He is a kind human. If your father is with him, Linlei, we will take you to him." "Linlei?" Aireio asked. "It means 'golden one'," Quarrel explained, watching as his mother motioned to some other Silvers and said a few things. He turned to his father. "Appah, what about Rathi?" |
"I will have Kamariya gather up the others and bring them back." The man said before turning to his wife. "You will take them?"
|
"Kamariya will not like that," She hummed. "She will want to go rescue Rathi."
"You are not going to," Quarrel breathed, frowning. "For the same reason you never came to save me..." "We will not kill humans," The woman told him, placing a hand on his head, before she headed toward the group. "What's wrong?" Aireio asked, frowning at Quarrel's downcast eyes. "Q? What did your mother say?" |
"Hey, what are they doing?" Red pressed.
"Was is something about Kayen or my dad?" Denum pleaded. The King started issuing more instructions. |
"They are bringing your father here," Quarrel informed, taking a seat.
"Then they're going to go get Rathi, right?" Aireio pressed, glancing over at Kamariya. |
"...Q?" Red scooted closer.
Denum looked relieved. |
When Q continued to remain silent, Aireio moved away from them and rushed over to Kamariya.
"I can't say I'm surprised," LiSen whispered. "After all... they left you in The Facility for fourteen years..." "I wont let them," Q whispered, looking up as Aireio tried to take Kamariya's hand. "I wont let them keep Rathi... we have to help him..." |
"Then lets get get him." Red said- putting his hand on Q's shoulder.
"I know what you're going to say." Kamariya told her- her tone as down at Q looked. |
"We're gonna get him back," Aireio promised, squeezing the other girl's hand. "I'm not gonna let them keep him! LiSen will help too, and Denum if he does... and I can bully Red into doing it and you know Q will if Red does, its obvious he likes him... don't give up, okay? We got out of there once..."
|
"They will not let you go." Kamariya said before she nodded. "If you can get me inside to him..."
|
Aireio looked over at her brother, who gave a small nod. "When the party leaves to get Denum's dad," she whispered. "We'll go."
-- Luda was awoken from a drugged state by loud yelling and banging. There were a group of men trying to hold down a young boy who was fighting them desperately. He was small - maybe a preteen - with black hair that somehow stayed in perfect ringlets, despite his struggles. His skin was pale and almost a sickly grey color, but it didn't look bad on him. One of them injected him with the purple dampener, but he continued to fight, even though it was hopeless. It was something Luda found himself admiring - it was obvious the kid wasn't going to give up, even as they shoved him into one of the tubes and locked his wrists in with the chains. |
