Tulip continues to pout until Bee walked up, "We're approaching Sweden, Wolfe wants to talk." she told her. Kale had been dispatched to tell Raven.
|
Dan sighed a little. "I guess that's my que," she shrugged before she started to walk off.
Raven wasn't too difficult to find, and he made his way to talk with Wolfe. |
Wolfe nodded as they entered, "We're almost in Sweden. You'll depart before we land." he explained.
|
"Alright," Raven replied with a bit of a sigh.
He turned to Dan to ask her a question, but she replied, "I'm already packed..." He nodded a little, but she didn't seem too happy. |
"Go ahead and board your Juttle then. I'll open the door to let you out when it's time."
|
Raven nodded to Wolfe again before starting to head out. Dan followed after him slowly.
|
The flight over was fairly quick. Laurel answered the door when they knocked and was clearly taken aback by the three of them. She stood there with wide eyes and a slack jaw. It was even clearly up close that she had been hit quite a few times. The bruising was hard to tell with her skin color but places were a shade or two darker and her cheek was definitely swollen. She was speechless as she blocked the door.
|
"Hey Laurel," Raven told her with a smile. They had agreed to not bring up the cuts and bruises yet in an attempt to keep Laurel from diving into her shell right away. "Would you like some company?"
|
Laurel blinked, "I... uh..." she swallowed looking back inside before turning back to them, "wasn't expecting you." she replied quietly. She didn't move out of the doorway.
|
"We know," Raven chuckled a little, trying to make it seem like no big deal.
|
Laurel blinked, even more confused. "Can we come in?" Bee asked kindly from the back.
Laurel started a little, seeming to come back to herself a little, "Oh, of course!" she exclaimed, "Sorry, I'm being terribly rude!" she apologized whole heartedly as she quickly backed up and opened the door all the way for them. "Did you have a long flight? Can I get you something to drink?" she asked quickly. Bee smiled, the would have chuckled under different circumstances. |
"Some water," Dan replied as she invited herself in.
Raven was soon to follow. "The flight was nice actually," he answered. "Then again I like to travel." |
Laurel showed them to the kitchen and had them sit down before she scurried around, putting water out and a few snacks.
|
"Sit down," Raven tried to convince her. "We have plenty of snacks, and it's been awhile since we've seen you."
|
Laurel seemed very fidgety but eventually she was convinced to sit down. She kept glancing around, never looking at any of them for more than a few seconds. Bee watched her calmly as she sipped on her water.
|
They were quiet for a long while. "... Where's Cong?" Raven finally asked.
Cong has recently come down with a fever and had been shut in his room for two days trying to fight it off. |
Laurel stared down at the table, "He's sick and hasn't come out if his room for two days. I've tried to help but I've been pretty busy." she replied quietly, rubbing her hands together. She looked terribly on edge, she clearly hadn't been sleeping very well.
|
"You look like you could use some sleep too," Raven replied with a small smile. "You must be busy with Cong sick. Is there anything we can do to help out?"
|
Laurel blinked and was silent for a long moment, "You could leave." she stated in a quiet voice, still staring at the table. Bee raised her eyebrows a little and glanced at Raven.
|
Dan also raised an eyebrow a bit at Raven.
Raven looked taken aback for a moment before he could take the shock off his face. "... And that will make things better?" he asked quietly after a long moment. |
Laurel swallowed a little but before she could reply an alarm sounded and she gasped, eyes going wide as she torn from her chair and sprinted from the room.
She sprinted down the hallway and through an open door. Inside was her father, hooked up to different devises which he was already pulling out of his arms. When he saw Laurel he looked furious, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!" he roared but Laurel continued to sprint forward and tried to restrain him, "Stop it, Baba, stop!" she cried out, grabbing one of his arms. Instantly he struck her with his other arm and his fist caught her jaw, nearly knocking her to the ground as it connected. But she rebounded just as quickly and was back at his side, doing her best to restrain him and taking whatever he lashed out. |
Raven quickly followed after Laurel with Dan close behind. He stopped at the door, holding out an arm to keep Dan back. He paused for a moment, swallowing before telling Dan to stay outside and going inside. He quickly grabbed the arm he had hit Laurel with and tried to restrain it at his side.
|
Bee stayed outside with Dan, grabbing her hand tightly after a moment as she watched with scene with worried eyes.
Laurel's wild eyes turned to Raven as he attempted to restrain her father. "DON'T TOUCH HIM!" she suddenly screamed, shoving Raven away hard as her father suddenly began to cry. Laurel turned back and grabbed his head gently, "Shhh... shhhh... It's alright." she whispered as she cradled him. "L-Laureli?" he sobbed. "It's alright." she murmured. "Forgive m-me..." he whispered as the arms that had just hit her began to hug her gently. Laurel swallowed, "It's okay, Daddy... Everything's okay now." |

|
Raven stumbled back, blinking in confusion. He stood back, watching the two in confusion.
|
Laurel continued to comfort her sobbing father. After a little while, Bee came in and put a hand on Raven's shoulder, gesturing towards the door with saddened eyes.
|
Raven pushed Bee's hand away, pausing a moment longer before walking himself out.
|
Bee paused a moment, watching Laurel and her father, before following Raven.
"So, how do you think it's going?" Kale asked as he played with a purple pixie stick. |
When Raven left the room, he kept walking until he was outside. Dan stood by the door, watching Raven leave.
Blaze shrugged. "I don't know," she replied. |
Bee hesitated, "Call us back if something else happens?" she asked Dan before following Raven.
Kale sighed, still playing with he pixie stick, "I hope for James' sake Raven can get it under control." he mused. He wasn't eating as much sugar as usual tonight. |
"Uh..." Dan muttered, wishing she wasn't the one to stay behind and stand in the door frame awkwardly.
Raven kept walking. It looked like he wanted to be alone. Blaze sighed a little before continuing to eat. |
Bee stubbornly followed but gave Raven his space, trailing behind.
Kale stared at Blaze for a moment, "If you didn't have to follow Yue around, what would you do?" he asked rather suddenly. |
Raven just wandered around for a long time, trying to ignore Bee.
"... I'm not sure," Blaze replied after a moment or two of thought. |
Bee continued to follow, still giving him his space.
Slowly it became apparent to Dan that Laurel's father had fallen asleep to her soft lullaby. Laurel slowly and methodically hooked him back up to everything, kissed his forehead and turned to leave. She ignored Dan as she approached the doorway. Kale nodded, "Haven't thought about it?" he guessed. |
Dan ignored Laurel back, but gave her enough space to easily leave the room.
Blaze shook her head, confirming Kale's theory. |
Laurel's jaw was already swollen and turning a nice shade of blue. She turned and headed back to the kitchen.
"You should think about it." Kale replied, "And when you find an answer, let me know." |
Dan didn't say anything and remained in the doorway for the time being.
Blaze blinked, looking a little confused. But she nodded a little before pushing her food around a little. Maybe she did already know the answer to that question. |
Bee finally ran out of patience. She wasn't a very patient person to begin with. And ran up beside Raven, walking beside him and staring up at him.
Kale smiled a little, "Do you play any sports?" he inquired. |
Raven was trying very hard to keep his emotions and thoughts to himself. There was something on his mind, but Bee couldn't tell what.
After a few minutes had passed, Dan quietly walked back into the kitchen and sat down at the table before munching on some snacks. Blaze shook her head. |
Bee sighed as she watched Raven, "C'mon now, don't pull a Nic." she murmured.
Laurel was sitting at the table, ice pack pressed to her cheek. Her eyes looked vacant, like she had no emotions left to give. Kale nodded with a sigh, "Too bad." |
