Kale took a seat, waiting awhile before asking quietly, "Blaze?"
|
Blaze shifted a little, but she remained silent.
|
Kale waited silently.
|
Kale got nothing more from Blaze.
|
Kale continued to wait. "Do you need a hangover pill?"
-- "Yue! I got a big one!" James exclaimed as he pull on his pole... and then was nearly pulled right off the boat. It was pretty clear that the pretty boy wasn't strong enough to reel it in on his own. |
Blaze cussed a little before retreating further under the covers. "Dig off, James," she spat venomously at Kale.
-- Yue blinked, staying back and wondering what James would do. |
Kale blinked. Paused. Then blinked again. "James is off with Yue," he replied.
-- James finally glanced over at Yue, "Hey," he complained, "Give me a hand!" |
Blaze cussed at Kale again, not believing him.
-- "... And how am I supposed to do that?" Yue asked. |
Kale sighed, thinking over something for a moment. "Your body is like a heater. You have to eat or your internal heater unit goes crazy," he stated, figuring Blaze would know James wouldn't know that.
-- "Grab my pole and help me pull it in!" James called back, "Hurry!" |
Blaze tossed the covers off in a furry, cussing fiercely at-
She froze as she saw Kale's face. She looked like a mess. She hadn't changed yet from the night before. And there were tear stains on her face. Her expression was shocked, but mostly blank. She didn't know what to think. -- "I'm not strong enough to make the difference," Yue sighed as she went over and grabbed onto the pole. |
Kale looked exhausted, he hadn't slept at all and one side of his face was significantly puffier than the other. Not to mention purple. He sighed again, looking Blaze over.
-- So they both wrestled the fish for awhile and finally they could see what it was as he jumped a ways away. It was a type of swordfish. |
It didn't look like Blaze was going to sort her thoughts anytime soon.
-- As soon as she saw the fish, Yue jumped back a bit, letting go of the pole for a moment before grabbing on again and cussing at the fish. |
Kale finally stood and went over to the bed, sitting down on the edge, "I found... that I couldn't leave," he said simply.
-- James laughed, "You've never seen a swordfish before?" he asked, greatly amused. |
Blaze blinked a little as if she was wondering whether she was awake or asleep.
-- "Not alive," Yue spat. |
Kale was silent for a good while longer. "... I understand this doesn't change anything," he replied quietly, 'But... I'll be around." He started to stand.
-- James chuckled before cussing as they were almost pulled overboard. |
Blaze slowly frowned a little. "... Why?" she asked him in a quiet, hoarse voice after he stood. "... I've answered every question you've had about my past... Why can't you share yours?"
-- Yue shrieked a little, almost letting go again. It looked like she'd let James fall in after the fish before they were both brought down. |
Kale paused, "You've never asked," he replied simply, So you must not care.
-- James had to pause from the cussing to laugh at Yue's reaction before focusing back on the fish. "I... think we've almost got it close enough! Grab the net!" |
Blaze was silent for a long moment. Then she said, "... Kale... What was your life like before you joined the Neonates?"
-- "What net?" Yue asked. |
Kale was silent before letting out a long breath, "Does it really matter?" he asked quietly, keeping his back to her.
-- James pointed to a net attached to a pole. It looked a little small. |
"... If it doesn't matter, then why won't you say?" Blaze asked.
-- Yue clearly thought that it was too small, but she went and got it anyway. |
Kale was silent for awhile, "... You've already decided who I am."
-- "It's coming along side the boat! Quick, Yue! Scoop it up!" James called, fighting with the pole. |
"Only because you didn't correct me when I was wrong," she replied sadly.
-- "Huh?!" Yue said as the fish came closer. "It will pull me in!" |
Kale didn't reply.
-- "You can do it!" James encouraged. |
Blaze was silent for a long time. "... Then... don't think about me anymore," she decided. "Because if you never tell me, then I'll never know who you are."
-- Yue cussed a little more before plunging the net into the water. |
Kale slowly shifted a little, looking uncomfortable. "I'm not..." he paused again, "I'm not good at... dirt like this," he muttered, social awkwardness back loud and clear.
-- The fish was awfully strong, but it looked like James still had a good hand on it. The two of them together just might be able to pull it on board. |
"You don't have to be," Blaze replied quietly, voice sounding tired now as she started to lay back down.
-- Yue was still cussing up a storm, not very confident in her ability not to fall in and make a fool of herself. |
"I mean... I've never..." Kale cussed quietly, "... I'm not... used to even talking to people, Blaze," he admitted after a moment, "I don't... know how to explain... things."
-- It took a lot of cussing and strain from the both of them, but they finally got the thing onboard. James then yelped and jumped clear of it's thrashing body. |
Blaze said nothing.
-- Yue jumped back as well, almost falling off the boat. |
So Kale wrestled with himself for a good while before slowly, and in a much more fragmented and halting way than he had last night, told her his past. It was really a struggle for him to get the words out even with his back to her.
-- James caught her, lifting Yue up in a tight hug, "We did it!" he exclaimed elatedly just as the fish flopped right back over the side of the boat and swam off. |
Blaze was silent, letting Kale take his time. When he was finished, she still remained quiet since he was on a roll.
-- Yue almost seemed to get excited for a moment. And then she watched blankly as the fish swam away. |
Kale seemed to have talked himself out. He was shaking a little now, still rocking a bit on his feet.
-- James started to laugh, still hugging Yue tightly, "The one that got away..." he chuckled before kissing Yue just for the heck of it. |
After a little while longer, Blaze asked, "Do you want to sit down?"
-- Yue was a little taken aback, resisting a little at first. But, like usual, she started to warm up to James. She started to blush a little, though she appeared unaware of it. |
It looked like Kale half collapsed onto the bed. He hadn't been joking, he looked light headed after all that talking.
-- James seemed to enjoy the kiss, hands moving around a little as he forgot about the fish. |
Blaze didn't say anything more as she scooted over to make more room for him if he wanted it.
-- Yue let it go for awhile, but she eventually began to pull away. |
Kale finally gingerly looked over his shoulder at Blaze.
-- James clearly didn't want her to, but forced himself to let her pull away. |
Blaze wasn't looking at Kale. She was trying to give him some mental space without getting up.
-- Yue didn't say anything as she put a little more space between them. |
"Say something," Kale finally whispered.
-- James let her put some space between them but kept his arms aroun her loosely. "Now, wasn't that fun?" he asked with a sideways grin. |
Blaze was silent for a little while longer before telling Kale quietly, "Thanks for telling me."
-- Yue shook her head a little in disbelief. "No one will believe it," she told him. |
Kale slowly fell back on the bed, closing his eyes. "Are you still leaving me?" he whispered, voice terribly vulnerable.
-- James sighed dramatically, "I should have snapped a picture of it but I grabbed you instead," he chuckled. |
Blaze was silent for a moment. "Are you willing to keep trying to make your body healthier?"
-- Yue shook her head some more. |
