"I don't think so," said the woman after examining the photo for a few seconds, "but I ain't been out in town much the last few days. My landlord go out all the time; maybe he can tell you somethin'."
"Alright, is your landlord in right now?" asked Kurt.
"Yeah, he live next door." The woman pointed a long orange fingernail at the door on the right side of the house.
"Thank you," said Kurt as he went to go knock on the door...
It was opened by none other than Randy VIII, who seemed to lack all of his usual energy. He wore nothing but a pair of pajama pants and an ill-fitting tank top, his hair stuck out in every direction, and there was no knowing smile on his face as he listlessly greeted Kurt with more of a grunt than any actual words.
"By God you look wretched," Kurt grimaced, "Have you seen this person?"
"Yeah, I seen 'im," Randy replied. "He come into town a couple days ago, saw 'im once or twice around here..."
"He's disappeared, do you know what might have happened to him?" asked Kurt, What happened to you?he thought, itching to ask but not wanting to send the wrong message...
"Nah..." Randy VIII shook his head unenthusiastically. "Sorry, sug'."
Kurt scrutinized him, "What's eating you?"
Randy raised an eyebrow at him. "Why you care?"
I'm just curious," said Kurt a little too nonchalantly.
Randy tilted his head and eyed Kurt for a moment. "My mother died," he said quietly.
Kurt raised his eyebrows, "Oh...m...my condolences," he said gently.
"I never felt anything like this before," said Randy. He was quiet, contemplative. At length he nodded toward the interior of the house. "Don't s'pose you wanna...?"
Kurt jerked and took a step back, "In there...alone with you?" he hesitated.
