Meanwhile, Wolfe called Blaze.
Blaze didn't answer.
Wolfe was waiting for Nic on a different bench.
So Nic walked over to him.
Wolfe waited until Nic was seated. "Dewei is here to kidnap Yue," he told him, getting right to the point.
Nic didn't seem too surprised.
Wolfe had a fresh cigarette in his mouth, "Long does not want her brought back to the Yin Long. I want to know why," he explained, gaze focusing on Nic.
Nic's gaze drifted off for awhile before returning to Wolfe. He seemed to have an answer, but paused for awhile as he decided whether to reveal it or not. But in the end he explained, "Sheng is planning something... I don't know what, but he's going to make a big move in the Yin Long when he takes his father's old place."
Wolfe smoked in silence for a moment, "Is Long against the move?" Wolfe questioned.
"I imagine he couldn't if he wanted to," Nic replied.
Wolfe was silent for awhile. "What do you know of Dewei?" he inquired.
Nic thought about it for awhile. He didn't say anything Wolfe didn't already know.
Wolfe nodded, "Yue will become an incredibly dangerous threat to us if she stays," he stated quietly.
Nic nodded, but then he noted, "But if she is returned to the Yin Long, then Sheng will be our enemy."
"He's not already?" Wolfe asked as he glanced at Nic, a little surprised.
Nic didn't reply.
Wolfe looked at Nic for a long moment, "What would you do in my position?" he asked, eyes weighing something.
Nic actually seemed to put some serious thought into it. He weighed the options in his mind for a few minutes before deciding, "Send Dewei home empty handed."
"Yue will have to return eventually," Wolfe noted.
Nic nodded again.
Wolfe was silent again, smoking calmly. "You understand the delicacy of this situation," he finally replied, "I have to do what's best for those who rely on my leadership."
Nic nodded one more time. "... And from my experience with Sheng and the Yin Long, I suggest you not piss Sheng off," he offered. "... Along with Laurel."
Wolfe nodded, staring out at the water. After a moment he sighed, letting a little of his guard down as he reached up and rubbed one of his temples. "I should have kicked you people right off my Juttle as you walked onto it..." he muttered with no real heart in it.
Nic didn't mention that if he had done that, he wouldn't have a boyfriend right now. Instead, he remained silent.
Wolfe paused for a long moment, looking over at Nic. It was obvious he was debating telling him something. Finally he decided, "... Laurel is building relationships with men known to deal illegally. She somehow pinpoints them in the bars."
Nic didn't reply.
Wolfe watched Nic for another moment before looking back at the water, "Does Dewei know you're here as well?"
"... Let's hope for both our sakes he doesn't," Nic replied.
Wolfe nodded slightly, "I'm going after Blaze. You should look in on Laurel, I don't think Raven can handle the two of them," he suggested as he stood.
-- "You're so boring tonight, Yue," Laruel complained for not the first time, "It's a girls night out, let's do something!" |
"... It would be bad if I was spotted near Yue," Nic mused.
-- "There's nothing to do," Yue replied. |
Wolfe glanced over his shoulder, "Then don't be spotted," he stated and continued on his way.
-- Laurel let out a frustrated grunt, "Stop sulking already!" |
Nic sighed a little. If he wanted to piss Blaze off that badly; he'd let him.
-- "Find someone else to play with," Yue suggested. |
Wolfe had Snow track Blaze's phone.
Laurel looked out the window for a moment before suddenly grinning, "Let's race!" she exclaimed, pointed to top of the line motorcycles parked outside. |
Blaze was in a room at one of the motels.
Yue rolled her eyes and shook her head. |
Figuring what was going on in there, Wolfe gracefully entered through the window.
-- Laurel grabbed her arm, "C'mon... let's go for a spin!" |
As Wolfe explored, he noticed a few things tossed about, including Blaze's phone. But no one was in sight. Though it sounded like the shower was on.
-- "I don't know if I'm sober enough not to crash," she told Laurel. |
Wolfe paused. About a minute later, the water suddenly shut off in the shower. Then the bathroom door opened to admit Wolfe.
As the door opened Blaze sighed, "I told you someone-" But she got cut off by the curses of the guy she was with. It was the same man Long had taken pictures of with Blaze earlier.
"What the blue terra?!" he demanded of Wolfe, not seeming intimidated by the intruder. But at first glance, it didn't really look like he needed to be. |
Wolfe ignored the man and focused on Blaze, "We need to talk," he stated.
"And what can't wait until morning?" Blaze demanded angrily.
The man glanced back and forth between Blaze and Wolfe, not sure who to be angry at since it seemed like they knew each other. "Seriously," he told Wolfe. "Get out." |
