Laurel sighed, "I'm bored," she admitted as she took another sip.
Yue didn't say anything, but she took another drink.
"Hey, let's play a game," Laurel suddenly suggested, turning and smiling at Yue.
Yue didn't seem too excited. "No thanks," she told her.
"We'll go into another bar..." Laurel started, "and whoever gets the most numbers, wins." she grinned.
Yue shook her head. She didn't want to play.
Laurel made a face, "Scared you'd lose?" she teased.
"I don't want to play," Yue replied, not intimidated.
"Why not?" Laurel pressed.
"I don't feel like it," she replied. Yue was defiantly off. Like something or someone was on her mind.
Laurel grumbled something before shoving another drink towards Yue.
Yue finished up her own, but didn't take the one Laurel gave her. Instead she stood up. "Let's go somewhere else," she decided anyway.
Laruel rolled her eyes, finished off her drink and stood.
Wolfe stood as the girls walked out. It was clear he wanted to follow them. |
Raven dawdled a bit as he finished up his drink.
As the girls walked out, a man held the door open for them before stepping inside himself. It was impossible to tell who he was. But he clearly had the same height and build of the man Raven had talked to in the bar in Chicago. And he was wearing the same mask. Raven didn't seem to notice him at first. |
Wolfe saw him immediately. He didn't do anything though, not drawing attention to the newcomer as he watched him blankly.
Neither did he attract attention to himself. He carried no threat as he found his way to the bar, but it was clear he could be a very potential threat if he wanted to be. But his intentions appeared peaceful. For now. He also kept an eye on Wolfe, seeming to recognize that he could also become a threat if he so desired.
He left it up to Wolfe whether to approach him or not as he took a seat. Raven still hadn't noticed. |
Wolfe was silent a long moment before nonchalantly walking over to the bar. He took a seat next to Long and ordered a drink without looking at him.
"Hmm?" Raven wondered, following shortly behind Wolfe, taking a seat next to him, sandwiching him between Long and Raven. "I thought we were gonna follow-" he leaned as he gestured toward the exit and paused as he saw Long.
Raven didn't finish his sentence. Instead he leaned back and ordered another drink. Long pretended like he didn't notice. |
"What brings you to Costa Rica?" Wolfe drawled in a tone that would attract no unwanted ears, "Business or pleasure?" Surprisingly, it wasn't until the word 'pleasure' that any hint of hostility entered his voice.
Long didn't react for a long moment, gauging Wolfe on some unknown scale. "Business. But I thought I'd kill some time before beforehand," he replied in a boring tone. But clearly he had something interesting to say.
Wolfe was silent for awhile. "Did you enjoy the tapes Snow gave you?" he asked seemingly harmlessly but really reminding him of his own group's skill.
"Blaze seems to be enjoying Costa Rica," Long countered with a cold critical tone as he pushed a small pad toward Wolfe. It was a couple pictures of Blaze from probably a few minutes ago. She was leaving one of the bars and walking north with some muscular man on her arm.
Wolfe actually smiled a little, eyes seeming coldly amused at Long's reply. "I hope your business does not involve us," he warned casually.
Long put the pad away, waiting a long moment before replying, "We both don't want my business to go as planned."
Wolfe did not seem to like that Long had spoken for him but after a moment he glanced at Long for the first time, "This bar is getting a little crowded," he hinted.
Long didn't move, waiting for Wolfe to leave first.
Except Wolfe didn't move.
Long didn't look like he was going to move first. He had sensed Wolfe's distaste of his last statement. He remained passive as he waited.
Raven was starting to feel the tension. And so he did what he thought was best. He slowly got up as inconspicuously as he could "... I'll make sure the girls haven't torn each other to pieces," he announced to them a little awkwardly and started to walk out. |
Once Raven was gone, Wolfe focused back on Long. "Who does this involve?" he asked.
Long waited a minute longer before replying, "Ming Yue."
Wolfe didn't show any emotion on his face. He nodded slightly, "You found us quickly," he noted with an implied question.
Long didn't answer. It seemed he didn't plan on straying from the topic at hand.
Wolfe looked interested in what Long had to say. After a moment, it became apparent that unwanted eyes were starting to focus on them. Most because of Wolfe's pink hair, but others because these two strange men were actually talking.
Wolfe paused for a moment before pulling out a card. He quickly wrote something down, "Here's my number," he stated loudly enough for others to hear and stood to leave. On the card was an actual number but it was clearly not a phone number. It was a code. |
"I hope it's real," Long replied as he took the card and put it away. But as he did, he got a quick look at the code.
The code was actually very simple. They were coordinates. It looked like Wolfe liked to keep things simple.
So Long waited until no one was paying attention any longer and slipped out to make his way to the coordinates.
Wolfe was sitting on a bench at the coordinates, overlooking the water.
So Long joined him quietly, sitting beside him.
Wolfe remained silent for awhile. "Ming Yue is currently under my protection," he stated quietly.
Long looked out over the water for a moment before replying, "Ming Yue has committed an unforgivable act to the Yin Long. She will be hunted until she is returned."
