"C'mon, Yue!" she said, "Let's find Blaze."
-- "I mean, you're cute and all. But I'm not looking for anything right now," Rosen stated, still a little confused. |
"Good luck with that," Yue told her. Which was pretty accurate. Blaze was no where to be seen.
-- Missy blushed again before shaking her head. "... Nevermind," she told him. "Forget I said anything." |
Laurel sighed a little but headed off towards the first bar she saw.
-- Rosen seemed a little confused but he shrugged, "Wanna go swimming?" he asked with a very handsome smile. |
Missy frowned a little. That didn't sound like it would turn out that well. "... Maybe something else," she decided.
"You choose then," Rosen offered.
Missy thought about it a moment. Then she suggested, "Tennis."
"Okay!" he replied and started towards the game room. He clearly didn't think she meant actual tennis.
Missy blinked at Rosen as he turned away from the tennis court and toward the game room. She stopped and called after him, "Like... real tennis."
Rosen blinked at her as he turned around. "... Seriously?" he asked, not quite believing her.
"... Yeah," she said, rolling her eyes a little. Of course he'd think virtual tennis.
Rosen sighed a little, "... Alright," he consented. He didn't seem too excited but he walked back to her.
Missy seemed surprised that he hadn't argued. She didn't say anything as they made their way to the clean tennis court.
So Rosen picked up a tennis racket and it became very obvious from the start that he had no clue what he was doing.
Missy didn't seem too surprised. But it looked like she knew what she was doing. "... Just pretend you're playing virtual tennis," Missy suggested before hitting a slow ball to him.
Rosen swung. And missed the ball entirely.
-- Laurel was completely ignoring Wolfe. She hadn't looked at him since he'd stepped past her and onto the boat. She was flirting up a storm, Rosen's influence still strong. While Raven tended to attract girls, Wolfe with his pink hair only caught the attention of males. But his appearance scared away all but the bravest of heart. |
Missy tried not to laugh. Then a moment later she wondered to herself why she was trying to be so nice. So she just laughed at him.
-- Raven seemed to be used to attracting a number of girls. He turned them down gracefully and respectfully. And he seemed amused at the effect Wolfe created. "... You know?" he told Wolfe, leaning over to him so he could hear him more clearly through all the noise, "I'm glad you came." |
Rosen frowned a little and tried to serve it back, missing it completely again.
-- Wolfe tilted his head a little, "... Good," he stated. |
Missy laughed again and tossed the racket a little, waiting for him to try again.
-- Raven smiled before telling Wolfe, "Ask me something you want to know." |
Rosen suddenly smiled slyly and threw the ball up, serving it straight towards her with ease.
-- Wolfe blinked. He looked away for a moment and then looked back at him, "Where did you pick up Dan?" he asked seriously. |
Missy caught the racket in time and hit the ball back with a frown and a 'really?' look at him.
-- So Raven explained how he had picked up Dan. He had spent a few night's at an ex's place, in a separate room of course. He was pretty wealthy and didn't mind letting Raven stay while he waited for a pay check from a job he had done. While he was there, he had noticed Dan and learned how she had been passed from family member to family member since no one really knew what to do with her. Since she was technically old enough to be on her own, he decided to give her a chance to escape the family for awhile if she wanted to. So he offered to show her around Eden. And she accepted. |
It was Rosen's turn to laugh as he hit the ball back to her.
-- Wolfe listened and nodded, "So you hadn't known her for long before Eden?" he clarified. |
She continued to give Rosen a sour face for awhile before focusing on the game again. Missy wasn't great, but she was good.
-- Raven shook his head. "Only a week or two. But I felt like I knew her pretty well when we went to Eden." |
Rosen could hold his own. Soon it was clear he was getting competitive again.
-- Wolfe nodded again. "Do you think she's happy?" he inquired. |
Missy didn't mind, since she was pretty competitive at this too.
-- "... You know, I'm not sure," Raven replied honestly. "She's adapted really well to everything that's happened. She thoroughly enjoyed the big art studio... but I'm not sure if she's ever been truly happy. Like something is holding her back - and I don't think it has anything to do with any of us." |
Wolfe watched Raven for a moment, "I suppose most of us in this group have things that are keeping us from truly being happy," he mused as his gaze found Yue and Laurel.
Raven followed Wolfe's gaze, but didn't comment. But after awhile he turned back to Wolfe. "What about you?" he asked. "Once... it's all over, do you think you'll be truly happy?"
Wolfe thought about it for a moment, "... That depends on the people still with me," he replied quietly.
Raven blinked, wondering how he was supposed to interpret that. So he took it the best way he could, but didn't say anything more for the moment.
Wolfe's gaze was focused on Laurel. As he watched her, he suddenly didn't seem so calm or happy.
Raven glanced back at Laurel and sighed. It wasn't really their business to stop her if she wanted to let off steam like this. But she was gonna get in over her head.
Laurel was giving a little strip-tease on a table. In all appearances, she looked drunk. But to Raven who had already seen her wasted, she clearly wasn't actually drunk. She also seemed to be focusing on a small group of men. Raven wouldn't know, but Yue would recognize them as men with illegal ties. Business owners with their hands in the black market.
Wolfe seemed confused, he gaze staying on Laurel as she started talking to the men. |
Yue noticed, but didn't bother saying anything. She seemed rather disappointed with how the night was turning out. It wasn't a girls night out at all. She had another drink or two before setting her sights on some of the more popular men at the bar.
"Careful," Raven teased Wolfe. "They might think you're jealous." |
Wolfe didn't seem to hear Raven, "I can't trust her..." he whispered, "And she's not helping."
Raven didn't say anything. Instead he took another sip of his drink.
Eventually, Laurel finished her conversation and went over to Yue.
Yue was getting frustrated with not receiving more attention than the other girls. So she was taking a break at the bar.
Laurel took a seat beside her and ordered a drink. She looked a bit worn out from her show.
Yue didn't say anything. So far Laurel had gotten more attention than her tonight.
"Where'd Blaze run off to?" Laurel asked when Yue didn't say anything.
Yue shrugged.
