"So he doesn't care for them either." Domino stated.
"For who?" Neko asked. "The people, or the Silvers? Both he and I can't stand the people."
He turned to look at Kayen. "He didn't mean to injure you," He informed. "He was only defending his home. It wouldn't have been the first time we've been attacked here." "I can tell," Kayen admitted, nodding toward the broken windows. "I keep forgetting to fix those," Neko hummed. |
"Perhaps this wasn't the best choice in refuge." Domino commented.
"At least they aren't sending us back," Kayen replied with a frown.
"True, but where will we go?" Domino asked.
"There's plenty of time to figure that out tomorrow," Neko informed, picking up some of the discarded blankets from earlier. "For now, you should rest. You're safe here."
-- As they followed Q's father down the hall, the half-Silver boy suddenly yawned, placing a hand over his mouth. |
"You need rest." The King said flatly with his heavy accent.
"I agree," Q replied, before turning to look at Red. "Will you return to your friends, or come with me?"
"I'm here, aren't I?" Red sighed- rubbing his yes.
"He is tired and wants to stay with you." The King said in the tongue of the Silvers. |
"I feel very connected with him," Quarrel admitted, giving Red a small nod. "Come, we will sleep."
He reached out and took the other's hand, before following his 'father' to the sleeping chamber. Red could see his friends curled up near the bottom, but Q headed for a spot surrounded by glowing rocks. "This is where Assah and Appah sleep," He informed. "They are our leaders. We will sleep with them." The boy hopped onto one of the glowing rocks and climbed into the netted bed, before reaching down for Red's hand. "Trust me," He breathed. |
"I don't sleep with other people." Red replied before taking Q's hand.
Q pulled him up with ease, setting him gently in the net.
"I think you misunderstand," He informed. "Or maybe my words were wrong. I do not mean sleep beside them - I mean in the same area. You do not have to sleep beside me, either." He laid out, stretching his long body and curling his tail around his middle. |
"...I'm still gettin' used to that." Red commented.
"Does it bother you?" Quarrel asked, as if surprised. He uncurled his tail and moved it behind himself, hiding it away from sight.
"Not bother, but I just never expect it." Red sighed as he laid down beside Q.
"Do you find me... weird?" Quarrel asked him, peering down into the other's blue eyes.
"Maybe when you're that close to my face." Red murmured.
"My apologies," Quarrel breathed, scooting back a little bit. "I think that you are weird. But I have not met many humans that have been kind to me."
"Well, I haven't been unkind to ya, so don't start bein' unkind to me and we'll be fine." Red replied.
"Fair enough," Quarrel replied, before he fell silent - still staring at the redhead.
Red was quiet a moment- trying not to look at Q as he lay besides the boy. It didn't last long with the other staring at him so much.
"...You find me interesting, don't you." Red sighed. |
"I apologize," Quarrel said again. "I'll stop staring and making you uncomfortable."
He closed his eyes and attempted to relax. |
"It's not making me uncomfortable, it just that I'm too used to being under the microscope." Red explained.
"I know how that feels," Quarrel replied without any malice, though Red instantly remembered where he had found the other.
"...Yeah, so it's not like it's something out of the ordinary for us." Red mumbled. "I don't care that people look at me for what I am rather than who I am."
Quarrel opened his silver eyes once more and stared at the redhead. After a moment he informed, "I don't stare at you because you are interesting. I stare at you because of all the hearts I reached out to, yours heard mine. I feel attachment to you. I want to know why."
"It wasn't my heart it was my head." Red replied. "I saw things from your perspective...I felt how frantic and scared and hurt you were and how much you wanted to get out. That transfer just drove me to finally find you and get you outta there."
"I am not quite sure what humans believe," Quarrel informed. "But from my understanding... feelings are felt with the heart and soul, not the head."
He reached out and rested a hand over Red's chest, the redhead's heart beating beneath his finger tips. He suddenly felt curious and scared - overwhelmed with this new place that he was supposed to know, but hadn't seen since before he could stand on his own feet. The feeling passed as soon as Q pulled his hand away. |
Red reached up and touched the spot over his heart- taking a breath to even out his heartbeat again.
"...So you have the ability to make people feel things." Red commented. |
"No," Quarrel informed. "That isn't a normal ability, nor have I ever been able to do so with anyone else."
"So that's what you're talking about." Red sighed. "I'm not closed off."
Quarrel stared at him. "Closed... off?"
"I don't know, people get in easier." Red reached up and held his head. "Denum complains about noise, but he has no idea."
The other pulled his hand away, looking a little disappointed. "I don't think that's what it is..."
"...I know you're trying to tell me something." Red sighed.
"Never mind," The dark-haired boy breathed. "Just sleep. We can talk about it later."
He closed his eyes and turned onto his stomach, his silver translucent wings laying flat on his back. Red could see the strips up and down the other's skin now - unlike the full Silvers, Quarrel's skin was more peach and less Silver, which gave him the appearance of a human. The stripes were concentrated around his wings and tail, but did not appear up and down his legs. He had the same diamond shape on the small of his back as his mother, however. |
Red reached over and and touched the surface of the wings lightly with his fingertips.
They felt soft - almost like they were made of fur.
Shivering, Quarrel opened his eyes back up and looked at the redhead in confusion. |
"...They actually look natural on you." Red remarked.
"I was born with him," The other boy replied, as if it were the obvious answer.
