Kale blinked, "Oh, so, more shots," he replied as he gingerly placed the box down on the bed, "I blame the lack of sugar around here."
Wolfe finally turned and closed the gap between them. He looked closely at Raven, leaning in a little too close, "You're flirty with everybody... aren't you?" he demanded, pink eyebrows slanted almost into a V. |
"... I'll go find you something," Blaze decided as she started off in search of some sugar.
"Uh..." Raven muttered, very surprised. "Huh? What are you talking about?" |
So Kale sat back with a sigh and waited, eyeing Yue every once in awhile to make sure she was okay.
"You flirt with anyone, you... toad stool!" Wolfe barked, face still a little too close. |
Besides still being spacy and a little bruised, Yue seemed alright.
Raven backed off a little, starting to get it. "Isn't that the point?" he argued, getting a little angry back. "I went to Chicago to get Laurel back - by whatever means I could. So I flirted a little to get information. Isn't that pretty much what you guys do all the time? What's your problem? It's not like I made out with them or anything unlike someone else." |
Laurel was wandering the halls how, Nic's pistol in her hands.
Wolfe glared at Raven, "Snow infiltrated Yin Long territory. You flirted with a man who seemed to be no threat because you pitied him," he spat, "Don't compare the two." |
"... Yeah, I talked to him," Raven replied, struggling a little to keep his voice low so others wouldn't over hear. "Did I flirt? Probably - I don't remember what was said. But did I ever insinuate anything happening beyond the conversation we were having - no. Did I ever touch him in any way - no. And at the time, I did pity him a little. I remember what its like - learning to be unashamed of coming out of the closet."
"Well, aren't you a budding philanthropist," Wolfe snarled a little before blinking as a ringing laugh hit them from their right.
Snow was grinning at them, "Oh, I'm so glad I kept my contacts in and my wiretap on you," she chuckled. Wolfe paused. Then, breaking all form of decorum, he suddenly charged right at Snow. Snow was still laughing as she ran off down the hallway, Wolfe hot in pursuit. |
Raven blinked at Wolfe and Snow as they ran off, standing there a little dumbfounded.
Out of the corner of Raven's eye, he could see Laurel walk by.
As Wolfe and Snow disappeared from sight, he shook his head a little before glanced over at Laurel.
Laurel seemed to be going somewhere, she walked with purpose. She was still gripping Nic's pistol in her hand.
Raven glanced in the direction Wolfe and Snow had disappeared before catching up with Laurel. "Hey Laurel," Raven called as he approached so he wouldn't surprise her.
Laurel's head turned a little but she kept walking forwards.
"... Where are you going?" he asked a little hesitantly.
"Shooting range," Laurel replied simply. "You shouldn't come," she suggested, "There are no couches."
"... Alright," Raven replied, taking that as a she didn't want him around. So Raven left Laurel alone.
A few hours later, Nic's sedatives were finally wearing off, and he slowly started to wake up. |
So Laurel continued on.
Blaze and Yue were in the infirmary when Nic woke up. After a few minutes, Blaze left. And then after a half hour Yue finally made her way out of the infirmary. It looked like it would still take some time for Nic to regain his strength.
Kale yawned contently as he started to wake up, licking the remaining sugar off of his lips as he blinked his eyes open.
Laurel turned around a corner and nearly bumped into Yue. She froze, hands clenching into fists. A smaller pistol than Nic's was strapped to her side. |
Nic was laying quietly in his bed across the room.
Yue looked up blankly at Laurel, not saying anything. After a long moment she moved to step out of Laurel's way. |
It look awhile for Kale to notice Nic was awake. Then he did a bit of a double take, "Oho!" he called out, "You're finally up, boulder?"
It seemed to take a lot for Laurel to restrain herself as she stepped forward. "... Why you?" she muttered under her breath in a tone heavy with resentment. |
Nic didn't reply.
Yue shook her head a little in disagreement. "... It was always about you," she told Laurel quietly. |
Laurel whipped around, grabbing the front of Yue's shirt and shaking her, "Don't give me that magma!" she hissed.
Yue grabbed Laurel's hand, but didn't try to rip hers away. But she didn't want to hear it, so Yue didn't say anything more.
"Why are you still here?" Laurel whispered, "Are you laughing at me? You and him?" her voice started rising, "Are you laughing at my naivety?! Are you amused?!" she nearly shouted.
"You were out for the whole time she was gone... and now you can't move, right?" Kale said. |
"No," Yue said after a moment.
Still nothing from Nic. |
Laurel snorted, "Leave... It's cruel of you to stay around longer."
"... No," Yue replied calmly.
Laurel looked confused for a moment before shaking Yue again, "What the terra is wrong with you?!"
"What's your problem with me?" Yue countered.
Laurel eyes suddenly flashed dangerously as she shoved Yue backwards and into the wall, "... you took everything from me... you blazing boulder!" she snarled.
Yue cussed a little at the impact. "What did I take?" she demanded.
"You stole him from-!" Laurel stopped, just glaring at Yue for a long moment, "No," she decided, "I never had anything to begin with. I never..." she cussed,"... never..." she suddenly pulled away from Yue, "I hate you," she said bitterly, "I just... hate you."
Yue was silent for a long while. "... I don't want Nic," she told Laurel, watching her reaction closely. "... I never have."
Laurel recoiled a little, suddenly lashing out and punching the wall beside Yue's head. "Don't play with me!" Laurel shouted, "I heard you... you're both bastards! I won't... be your puppet anymore."
Yue flinched a little, but took a moment to let Laurel's words sink in. "... Heard what?" she asked quietly.
"I heard you both talking... planning..." she spat, "The words that robbed me of everything. I came back because I thought you'd both left already. Bastards... how much crueler can you be?"
Yue closed her eyes a brief moment, realizing what must have happened. "... Nic just woke," she told Laurel. "He's been unconscious ever since he took that drug."
"Quit lying!" Laurel snarled as she pulled away, her hand already showing signs of bruising, "I know what I heard!"
Yue was quiet for a long moment. "Then let's try to set this straight," she decided.
