"Here." Holden said holding out his wrist. "You need to feed, at least humor me in taking a few drinks." He said not moving his wrist.
"It's ok Solomon, it will all be fine soon." Alicia said as she laid back down on the couch. |
Solomon gently pushed his wrist away, "No Holden, I will just find someone else." He rolled onto his back, placing his arm over his eyes, a new habit of his. After some time of silence, he rolled back over, holding himself just above Holden, resting his forehead on his, "I'm just sick of all this." He moved his head to Holden's neck, kissing his lightly before letting his sharp fangs pierce Holden's neck.
Holden jumped when Solomon's fangs went into his neck. He could feel his blood being drained from his body. He wondered if Solomon was just feeding, was he gonna kill him, or was he gonna turn him.
"Ah!" Alicia said as she jarred up. "You didn't have to do it so hard." She said grabbing her neck. |
After a few gulps he removed his mouth from Holden's neck, "Wait here...you're going to need something to eat. Anything in particular?" He gently kissed the wound, healing it for Holden.
Holden sat there a little woozy. "No nothing in particular." He said as he laid back down.
"Are you ok Holden?" Alicia asked feeling that he was woozy. "Ya I'm fine." Holden said not wanting to concentrate right now. "Ok just making sure." She said as she laid back down. |
Solomon nodded, standing up and walking out of the room. He did feel quiet a bit better, at least his head ache was gone. He was still extremely low on power and energy, but he didn't really care. As he walked, he couldn't help but think of just how delicious Holden's blood had tasted. He bit his lip a bit, remembering the unique flavor as he made his way into the kitchen. He assembled a quick ham and cheese sandwhich complete with water. He quickly teleported himself back up to the room, holding the items to Holden, "Here."
Holden sat up when he heard Solomon, "Thank you, do you feel better?" He asked as he grabbed the plate and water. He took a bite of the sandwich, "You know how to make a sandwich too." He said with a smile. Holden cracked his back, "Oh that felt good." He said as he took another bite.
"I've had 500 years to practice..I would certainly hope I know how to make a sandwhich." He chuckled, leaning up against the wall that the head of the bed rested against. "A little, yes, but I know you're not stupid..you know I need a lot more than that."
Holden smiled. "Ya I know you do. But as long as you are feeling better. Also do some vampires drink animal blood?" He asked as he took a drink of water. He took another bite of the sandwich while waiting for Solomon's answer.
"I personally do not, but I've heard of a few vampires doing so. They're generally rather weak most of the time, and quite a bit mellower than human drinkers, but to each their own. Anything else you want to ask?" He did not mind Holden's questions. He rather enjoyed it. Perhaps there'd be an answer that would convince the boy he really did not want to be turned.
"Hm, I'm not sure at the moment." Holden said with a smile. He took the last bite of the sandwich, he put the plate on Alicia's plate. "I'm gonna try and get some more sleep, if that's ok?" Holden asked as he drank the last bit of water. He laid down while waiting for Solomon's answer, he knew that Solomon would let Holden sleep.
"Sleep the day away Holden..." He tensed a bit. Why did he have a bad feeling about letting Holden sleep? "Alicia..I'm going to need your help protecting his mind from Jaclynn...I'm no where near full strength yet." Come to think of it, he was surprised he hadn't passed out after healing Holden's back..he certainly should have. He quickly pushed the thought aside, thankful he didn't. He erected a barrier around Holden's mind, reinforcing it as much as he could afford.
"I wont do that." Holden said as he passed out.
"Don't worry captain, I have it covered." Alicia said as she did a salute, even though Solomon couldn't see it. |
Solomon smiled, "Thank you Alicia." He would stay in the room to watch over Holden, for any sign of meddling. He didn't think Jaclynn was naive enough to try it twice in one day, especially with Solomon being aware of it, but you never know. She was quite persistent.
"Your welcome Solomon." Alicia said as she fell back asleep.
*** Holden woke up, he rubbed his eyes. He saw Solomon sitting in one of the chairs. "Solomon?" He asked still waking up. "What day is it?" He asked again as he looked at the clock which didn't tell the date. |
Solomon looked over, quite surprised, "Holden, it's Saturday. You slept almost a solid 24 hours. I didn't mean to literally sleep the day away." He chuckled slightly, getting out of the chair and sitting on the edge of the bed with a smile, kissing him lightly on the lips, "I take it you slept well then?"
"I'm sorry." Holden said looking down. He kissed Solomon back, "Ya I guess so, but it felt like," He shook his head. "Never mind." He said grabbing his head because he made himself a little dizzy. "Did you feed some more?" Holden asked as he put his hand on Solomon's knee.
Solomon shook his head, "I would never do that with you being asleep. Do you not feel well Holden?" He placed his forehead to Holden's, closing his eyes and noting the warmness of his forehead, "You don't appear to have a fever. Perhaps you're just hungry, you did go 22 hours without food after all. Shall I have Anne bring something up?" He smiled, leaving his forehead on Holden's.
"I... I'm fine. She doesn't have to bring it up I can go down there." He said with a weak smile. "Is Alicia ok?" He asked as wheat happened the night before flashed through his head. He tensed a little bit as he felt a pain in his back. "You don't have to make Anne work so hard for me, I am the dumb ass that stood up to a at least 600 year old vampire and I got my ass kicked for doing that." He said closing his eyes trying to dispel the feeling of helplessness from the night before.
Solomon kept himself stiff, keeping Holden down on the bed, "No, you will not get up Holden. It's no problem really. After you eat, you can get out of bed, so you better decide what you want quickly. I can hear your stomach gurgling loud and clear Holden." He smiled slightly, sitting up as the position was starting to hurt his back.
"Ok, I doesn't matter to me she is a great cook, anything will be fine." Holden said as he adjust to take some pressure off of his back. He smiled, but his mind was still going over the past night's events, he tensed again as his mother came into his mind. "No." He said in a whisper. He wanted to pull his knees to his chest but he knew Solomon would know something was wrong. If he didn't know already. His smile went away slowly as he pictured his mother hitting him with the hammer. He shook his head again to dispel the images in his head.
"Holden? What's wrong?" He whispered out a curse, placing his forehead back onto Holden's, drilling into his mind. He could sense a leak in their barrier around him and knew it was Jaclynn working her poison again. He quickly found her tiny little worm in his mind, working to push her away.
"Come now Solomon, you know you're too weak to fight me off." Solomon ignored her, simply concentrating at the task at hand. She was right though, if he used too much power he might just pass out and that could spell disaster for Holden's already weak mind. After a short struggle with Jaclynn, he decided he'd have to just risk it. He gathered up his power, pushing Jaclynn out of Holden's mind and creating an impregnable block around him...for the time being. He just hoped he could hold it long enough for Jaclynn to simply just go away. Feeling Jaclynn's presence fade, Solomon broke the the barrier around Holden's mind. He sighed, sitting up, "Holden? You alright?" Well, so much for making Holden's blood last. He could tell he was just about ready to fade into unconsciousness, as the corners of his vision became black, but he forced himself to stay awake, so Holden wouldn't worry. |
"I'm ok, but your not." Holden said looking at Solomon. He grabbed Solomon and helped him lay down. "What's wrong? There's something your not telling me." Holden said as he concentrated. "Alicia I need help up here." He said knowing she was in his brain.
Alicia teleported to Holden. "What's wrong?" She asked concerned. "I do not know. Open your mouth please." Holden said rushing. "Why? Shit he's fading." She said as she kept her mouth open for Holden. He stood up slightly and cut his wrist on her teeth, he put it up to Solomon's mouth. "It's ok Solomon I will be fine." Holden said with a weak smile. He could already feel his energy fading. He was weak but he needed to help Solomon. |
Solomon quickly placed his hand over Holden's wrist, forcing the wound to close, "I'm fine...honesty." He shot Alicia a glare, "You should really stop enabling him.." He sighed, "I'll go have Anne whip up something for you to eat." If he could stand that was.
He pushed himself from the bed with a slight smile, "After breakfast, do you want to help me with the horses?" He didn't wait for Holden's answer, knowing it would be 'yes'. He made it past the door and out of sight when his charade of consciousness would no longer work. He knew he'd regret this, since when he would pass out, Holden would force his blood down Solomon's throat, one way or another. Solomon grabbed onto the banister, still a good three or four feet away from the stairs when his vision finally cut out. Seconds later, he collapsed, unable to keep himself conscious any longer. He hit the ground with a loud 'thud', more than likely snapping a few fingers in the wrong direction on his way down. |
"I know sorry." Alicia said as she went to help Solomon up.
"Solomon!!" Holden yelled as he heard a loud thud. He ran out to see Solomon collapsed on the floor. Alicia trailed out after Holden. Holden tried to pick Solomon up off of the floor but his back wasn't letting him, "Alicia can you help me get him the the bed?" He asked straining to help Solomon up. "Ya." Alicia said as she got on the other side of Solomon, she helped Holden lift Solomon up and walked him to the bed. Holden stuck out his wrist as he sat down on the bed. "Is there any like bottles of blood or something?" He asked. "Ya but he doesn't like them." Alicia said as she cut Holden's wrist with her nails. "I don't care go and get some." He said as he reached into his pocket for his credit card. Holden put his cut wrist to Solomon's mouth. "Buy as many as you can." He said turning his attention back to Solomon. Alicia grabbed the card and teleported to the blood store. "Solomon you will be fine." Holden said with a sad smile. Alicia teleported back to Holden, "Here I cleaned them out." She said placing the six bags of glass bottles of blood on the floor. She grabbed a bottle out and opened it, she handed it to Holden as she healed his wrist. Holden put the bottle to Solomon's open mouth, he poured it slowly down his throat. |
Solomon had managed to regain some consciousness just as Alica had come back, and right away he wished he hadn't. He could smell that damn stale blood, not to mention, Holden's. He wanted to shut his lips tightly, but found it nearly impossible to move as his consciousness left him again. Why did he always drive himself to this?
"How much blood should it take for him to fully regain consciousness?" Holden asked as he grabbed another bottle form Alicia.
"It depends." She said grabbing another bottle as Holden took the one she had. "On what?" He asked putting a third bottle to Solomon's mouth. "On how fast his body can absorb the blood." She said with a sigh. She saw Holden wobble a little bit. "Oh no don't you pass out on me next." She said with a glare "Damn Solomon always passing out." She muttered very quiet. "I'm fine." He said not looking away from Solomon. "No your not, you gave him blood twice. Plus you haven't eaten in almost a day." "Anne can you make some food for Holden please?" Alicia said looking at Holden. "I swear these two are gonna be the death of me." She thought to herself. |
After a minutes of that, the supply of bottled blood had been depleted and Solomon's body quickly worked to absorb it. Even after an hour though, he still had no woken up. He had, after all, deprived himself quite a bit.
It wasn't until early evening, perhaps around 5pm that night when Solomon awoke. He sighed, bring his hand to his face and pulling it down slightly, I was hoping to at least get downstairs to Jourdan... He knew he was alone right now, as he could sense Holden downstairs eating and Alicia making sure he did. Thankfully. After a few moments of laying there, he sat up, throwing his legs over the bed and letting his arms rest on his thighs, his head hanging a bit as he worked himself awake. "How long have I been out?" |
"About three hours. How are you feeling? Also don't come down I want Holden to finish eating." Alicia said watching Holden eat.
"What's the matter? Is Solomon awake?" He asked slightly standing up. "No, sit, eat, I was just scanning the house and property." She said grabbing his hand to keep his from moving. Holden sat back down, "Ok, is everything fine?" He asked as he took another bite of food. "Yes everything is fine, now finish eating and we can go check on Solomon." She said with a small smile. "Ok." Holden said as he sped up eating. "No, I don't want you to get sick now. Eat slowly, savor the food." She said putting her finger up. Holden nodded as he slowed down. "I swear you two are gonna be my death." She said. |
He sighed, running a hand through his hair, "I'm sorry Alicia...yet, no matter how many times you lecture me to take better care of myself, I never will." He attempted to stand, but found himself quickly going back to the bed and laying down, "You should not have let Holden give me more blood Alicia. He's had a rough weekend. I can't help but wonder if he really would be better off as a vampire. I mean, even if I were to wipe his memories, he'd still be in danger. At least, if he was a vampire, he'd be able to protect himself."
"He is just as stubborn as you so that would of been futile. We are back to this Solomon? You know where I stand with Holden becoming a vampire. Also if he would, he would be left alone by the council, now Jaclynn and my mother on the other hand I'm not so sure about. I'm sorry Solomon, but I am sick of this conversation, tomorrow when he is at full heath I am turning him. I'm sorry but he will be better off as a vampire, he wont need us to fight his battles for him, which he feels bad because we do that." She said trying to keep her composure so Holden doesn't ask her about it.
Solomon narrowed his eyes, not that she could see it, "He's not ready for it right now, nor will he be in a few days. Just give me time and I will turn him when I feel he's ready. He's already improving since this incident with his mother. Jaclynn should leave us alone, even now or once I finally get back to full power. She's not stupid." He sighed deeply, he knew Alicia was right though, the sooner Holden was turned, the better for all of them. Yet, at the same time, he was repulsed at the idea of brining the boy to their world. It was such a dark world...
"Look Solomon I'm sorry, I am just stressed out here. I know you are to, Holden is a damn bottle of nerves. He doesn't know when he will get attacked again, and if this time will he live." Alicia said as a frown came over her face.
"I know, and I understand. He just needs to hold out a little longer. He needles to settle down before he gets turned. Perhaps working outside with Kali and the others will help him relax a bit today. I know his back will probably bother him a bit, so I'll be doing the heavy lifting if necessary." He sat up once more, carefully lifting himself off the bed, glad he could stand this time. "Has he been keeping up with his meals all day today? He really needs the nourishment."
"I can block his pain receptors in his back if you want. There has only been one meal since he woke up Solomon. Don't you go and hurt yourself now." She said squeezing his brain. She looked at Holden who had a few bites of food left. "Solomon is awake." Alicia said knowing he was just gonna run up to Solomon.
"Ok." Holden said as he quickly gobbled down his last few bites of food. After he was done, he got up and ran to Solomon. |
"No, I don't want him to think he's 100% if he's not. He needs to careful." He looked to the door as he heard Holden coming up the stairs. "Only one? What about lunch? Oh wait..the sandwhich..that's right." He sat down on the bed waiting for Holden to come over.
"If you call a sandwich a meal. No offense." Alicia said with a smile
Holden ran up the stairs, he felt his back tense. He reached the top of the stairs and he bent over in pain. He quickly stood up and went to his room to check on Solomon. "Are you ok Solomon?" He asked as he entered his room. "I was so worried about you." Holden said as he sat down on the bed. He gave Solomon a hug. |
Solomon gently hugged Holden back, being cautious of his back, "I'm fine Holden. It's not uncommon for me, really. And no matter how much you, Alicia, or anyone for that matter, will lecture me about it, it will most likely never change." He gave Holden a quick, yet passionate kiss, "How are you feeling?"
He kissed Solomon back. "I'm fine." Holden said as his back spasmed. He looked at the hallway and saw the blood in the carpet and he tensed. "You should stay in today and rest." He said turning his attention back to Solomon. He smiled trying to shake off the pain in his back.
"Well I definitely have to clean that up, but after that I have to spend at least an hour with the two new horses. They need to adjust to my scent, and the quicker the better. You're welcome to come outside with me, but anything other than sitting is unacceptable. It's rather nice outside, so I think you should at least come out."
