there is no thing shorter than armpit level that this does not happen to. once things are on the floor they are (usually) left alone. this happens many times a week in most rooms of the house usually cats but occasionally a human will knock in and the same thing will happen

oh, that is something i know a little about! if your card has a chip you can use a metal hole-punch to put a hole in the card somewhere that it's not in the way and attach it to a lanyard ^^ it looks dumb but works pretty decently
